- Intelligence and mana scaling is much more complex than what it appears to be at surface level as while one could simply say "just use wise dragon armour", mana scaling certainly dives much deeper than this. Not only is mana highly dependent on your intelligence, but there are also so many factors that contribute to a high mana count, which is why I've compiled all of the most significant ways to boost your mana in this video to hopefully make it easier to understand for newer players :)

Good video man although equipment can help a ton in mana and there is the dark/shadow/wither goggles that are super op for how easy to get them is

Great job on the video! I also found that the enchantments, big brain(helmet) and smarty pants(leggings) increase intelligence and may be used starting from enchanting 21

for enchants, smarty pants and big brain increase intel, although smarty pants is the only one that is worth it in my opinion.
also personally, the 100 intel per wisdom 5 on armor is quite substantial as the next best thing is legion i think which is much more expensive (and inconsistent). having 100 levels at all times isnt too much of a hassle either
The other enchants are too oddly specific for this guide, and what you say about wisdom is true to an extent. It's not worth putting wisdom 5 on a non-dungeonised wise set, but it's worth it if you're doing F6/F7 and you have it dungeonised. It just comes down to how much you wanna put into your mage set depending on what stage of the game you're at.
Also on the topic of legion, it's significantly better not just because of the intel and mana boost. It also boosts raw ability damage (and other things that aren't mage related) which makes it excel so much more, even if it's "inconsistent"
Wisdom is better than legion, unless you have like 20 people around

I do hope they add more mage pets, because right now, there's only mayyyybe 4 pets (gdrag, legendary guardian because of mana regen, sheep, and whichever wisp gives mana regen) and pretty much 3 out of 4 of them either don't give great perks, are stupidly expensive, or don't give great perks AND are stupidly expensive (I'm looking at you, sub zero wisp) also why does overheal exist?

Smarty Pants enchant
Big Brain enchant
Mana Vampire helps with survivability
Reflection Enchant
These all give intelligence and other buffs, Reflection: when shot deal 20x your intelligence to the shooter. if you have 1000 intell and you get shot by something. 1000 x 20 is 20000 so 20000 damage gets dealt to what shot you.
MS: enchants don't buff your Intel

Is the Necromancer Lord armour still good for mage main?
Ist still good for f6 and your first f7 runs since the ehp ist very good, but out of dungeons its trash
On an ironman youll have to use it if you choose to be a mage in your first f7 runs, but on a regular profile its very not worth it as you can just get cata 24 and skip to f7 to use storm
eccentric paintings give more mage oriented stats, but takes away physical damage stats

I have a full set of wise young dragon armor, whenever I equip it I only have a total of 115 mana. Fun fact : I only have a base of 115 mana. Any fixes?
Edit : Whenever I hover over it, it says, "Full set bonus : Young blood (0/4)"
You have young drag armour and not wise drag armour, it should say “very wise dragon …”

sapphire power scroll won't influence your intel, but gives you +5 mana everytime you use an ability, it doesn't give any stat boost by itself
as a terraria player, ill take the kb immunity over the extra intelligence
Sometimes you can frag items, keep that in mind mages

WRONG the sheep pet is for right click mage and GUARDIAN is for left click mage
the guardian has an ability that shoots a laser beam that does massive damage because its scaled off mana so if you have a crap ton of mana multiple that by 10 and you just did a fuck ton of damage
I don't know what kind of crazy world you're living in, but you'd be using a EDrag/GDrag if you're gonna be playing LCM. The Guardian pet is hot garbage btw, and you'd still be better off with a sheep for the mana perks since the LCM beam scales with your intelligence

You could either switch to a blue whale/baby yeti pet, but get less intel or you could change reforges of your armor to giant. I think pet changing is better considering it gives more ehp/intel sacrified. There are maybe other ways to do it but I recommend this.
@@limegagliano but if still dies, convert it to astraea, it gives some defense and most master mode mages use it instead of a hype
Survivability issues are usually easily fixable. I'd start with either going for an EHP pet like a blue whale, though you could also opt out for a "non mage set" like full superior which has extremely high EHP but not the greatest mana. If you follow the other steps to boosting your intel you can use superior's EHP and also get enough mana with it, so that should help out a lot

What is bro yappin about. For mage u NEED a Hyperion, storm, Golden dragon to actually deal proper damage. Every other mage weapon is just way worse then there berserk or archer couter parts. ONLY play mage in early game with aotd and then in Late game with hyperion.
