I have one recommendation for the next time you do this. Instead of cutting a slit near the seam rip some the seam to make the slit. (If that makes sense) It will make it look cleaner, but regardless it still looks amazing.

Did they ever go out of style? I never stopped. I have been rocking my skinny jeans proudly since 2006. I kept 1 pair of flared pants from 2005 that I still fit into because I knew they'd be trendy again one day and I wore them the other day when it was raining, only to remember why they suck. I legit had to mop the floor where I walked because I brought so much rain puddle water home with me. Skinny jeans were revolutionary compared to straight leg, boot cut and flared pants because they fit every shoe and boot out there and don't get anywhere near as dirty, especially when it's wet or muddy. If they did go out, they're next to come back and it'll be soon. The cycles are getting shorter. Regardless, my skinny jeans will always be a hit with me.
You're definitely correct about cycles getting shorter, in 2023 skinny jeans did make a comeback only to instantly go back out. I don't care about fashion trends anyway, so I just watch trends go by in the blink of an eye wearing whatever I feel like. But it was very funny to see skinny jeans and low rise come back for a few months only for people to very quickly bully it back out.
@Azerus_ I think some of them look cool as long as they aren't halfway down some dude's ankles. My big gripe with it is fast fashion. People don't want to be outfit repeaters anymore because of how fast trends change, even non celebrities.

I've seen a lot of Gen Z wearing skinny jeans alongside flares, both look nice. Either way in a few years the trend will probably change again and nobody will be wearing flares, but skinny jeans are still being sold in every shop despite whatever trends have come in so I think they're likely to stick around
