The Honor Graduates of Echo and Oscar Company retire the platoon guidons during the graduation ceremony on Parris Island - Graduation date 04/14/17 #parrisislandphotography
2097 Company E, 26 October 1990. SDI Gysgt. Gardner, DI Gysgt. Jochens, DI Sgt. Neal. I can't believe it's been soo long ago I was on that same parade deck, but I still remember like it was yesterday. Watching that guidon retire and getting dismissed is something you will never forget, and you will be forever changed!
I went to leadership academy. It’s like mini boot camp for JROTC high school cadets. I went for my Naval JROTC, and they did this and boy this gets me in my feelings. Seeing this is so beautiful. It has me literally crying.
It's not being retired in the sense of a famous football player number or baseball player number. A better word would be that it's being passed back, or returned. The platoon that carried the guidon is now graduated so they don't need it anymore, in a way. In a few cycles ( the entire process of recruit training) they'll reuse that guidon. Source: I graduated on Friday.
@@ecliqsly6585 Holy shit we're back to this! That's awesome. I'm out now(6 months), I've started college and I'm starting a youtube channel(@tfojenkins, we play arma and content will be coming soon). Had a good 5 yr run with the corps and I got what I wanted out of it. I do miss it, every day.
00:57 ... who else caught that DI in the back playing the beat with his hands in the back... It is a catchy song
Wasn’t necessarily cause it was catchy. The beat(of the drum) is a simple left left left right left cadence and he’s matching it with that in mind.
