This was one of the more emotional moments of graduation for me. The guidon, our identity, our greatest symbol of both individuality and teamwork for the past 3 months, being handed off and carried away, never to be seen again.
Thanks Ssgt Stewart, Ssgt Jonican, Sgt Valentin and Sgt Guest you made us Marines. Memories of 28 Dec 73, Platoon 395, Co I, 3rd Battalion, MCRD Parris Island was the last Platoon to be dismissed for 1973. Its been 44 yrs ago, Im so proud of our Platoon. Semper Fi
Still gives me chills seeing the “Retire the guidon “ ceremony. Not to mention that the band chorus for it is probably my favorite next to the Marines’ hymn and only second to the National Anthem.
Even though the SC ruled it's okay to walk on, rip up, or burn our flag, it's comforting to know there are soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines of both genders who will die for it.
I’m here to learn about guidons. I have to admit, I’ve never really understood the screaming in the face, scowling looks etc. I mean no disrespect. I am proud of our military! Dad is a great man, Army, Korean Conflict, 50-54. He never screamed or raised his voice to anyone. He looked at me, raised his hand, like “stop.” I knew what that meant!! Could you stand perfectly still, as an irate, untamed angry man hits you in the face, in front of your wife, and everyone in the stands at a softball game? My dad did. He didn’t raise one hand, say one word. Dad turned, took his wife’s hand (my darling mom) helping her off the bleachers and spoke to me “get in the car, daughter.” He tamed his tongue and never cursed, not once! Dad had the strength of ten thousand horses!! Why am I talking to a group of soldiers I’ll never meet?? I suppose I’m missing my dad.
Yeah he didn’t scream and yell at Anyone out of the service because that isn’t his job. The screaming and yelling is part of training to stress you out and get use to loud noises and also be good at communication when loud ass sounds are going off... war isn’t quiet you know.
The screaming in the face and “shark attacks” are meant to condition the recruit to focus and follow orders under extreme conditions (which is what happens during war). As for guidons, they identify the platoon, company, or battalion. This is a carryover from when units weren’t able to communicate their locations to their field commanders. The platoon guide is an honorary position and designates the lead recruit. PS… Marines do NOT like to be referred to as soldiers.
Kind of an unusual combination with the campaign covers and the dress blues in my opinion. If it was the deltas then it would be good since the top is khaki. I thought they faded those out like in the early 90s.
The following is what is being said when retiring the Platoon Guideon time with the music (4/4 time) 1. Ex 2. Change 3. Guideon 4. Take 5. Guideon (and cut) 6. Post 7. March Time may have changed a little, but this is what was said during my time on the Drill Field. Hope that helps? Regards
James Ullmer, Jr. He was my Drill Instructor when I went through like seriously. Guy was insanely strong though. I can't believe I'm seeing them in a UA-cam video

Not just military in 2020 I truly believe we will have to fight in the near future to take back our country and turn it to freedom and God.

Officially, it’s called National Emblem, and it comes in midway through the song

Yeah!!!! Hollywood Marines!!!!..
Need love 💞!!!
That hurt my eyes.
Is it me or is one of the guides out of step?
usmc is a brotherhood.
I didn't know campaign hats and Dress blues could be worn together.
Well done Marines. The female sgt first in line is hot. The 2nd to last SSG looks a bit heavy for a DI
James Ullmer, Jr. He was my Drill Instructor when I went through like seriously. Guy was insanely strong though. I can't believe I'm seeing them in a UA-cam video
And he's super decorated compared to the rest of the DIs
Yeah that first female is SGT Hunter and she scared the living fuck out of me. That big SSGT is SSGT Tisdale and he has like 20 confirmed kills
The fuck dude? Tell that to her face perv.
👏🙏🏻🇺🇸
0:09 buddy is way out of step
Dress blues with smokeys?? Alrighty then.....
thought that was weird too new corps i guess
alldud13 You'd have been saying the same shit when they switched from campaign covers to helmets at the turn of the 20th century too lmao
Yeah this is different fo sho!
Would've looked better if the smokeys were black. Never seen that uniform combo before
This combo has been done before back in the 90s /80s...some old graduation on yt can show you
Back when WM had their own uniforms👍🏾👍🏾......politics🤷🏾♂️🙄
Hahahahaha. Women wear the same uniforms now because women asked to..
Wenn in der Reihe marschiert wurde gingen früher immer die Größten vorne.Niemand ging gerne hinter einem(r) gestauchten.
Meine Meinung 😑😷.
Holy shit we didn't get dress blues we had tropicals
No, this is done at the end of every graduation ceremony, that in and of itself does not justify wearing Alphas.
Was wondering the same thing the whole company has blues not just the honor guard.
Dress blues in Winter guys.
I graduated in my DRESS BLUES with my rifle and pistol expert badges
