Yeah, get the windows you want, don't compromise. As we were building our house, we made several mistakes and went back and corrected them or like you, made the hard choice to spend more to do it the way we wanted, but are SO HAPPY we didn't settle for what we had. You'd regret it every time you looked at it. And we're just weeks away from wrapping up our house build! A little here and there and it's FINALLY finished! You'll get there one day as well. Just keep taking your time and it will all come together for you.
The way y'all work together is outstanding. I've been married 27 years now and it takes togetherness to keep building a future. Keep on keepin on. The addition is looking awesome.
…and being faithful. That’s unfortunately not happening in 75% of marriages and many in corporations, law enforcement, churches and schools look the other or bury their heads in the sand. Be the 25%!
Well that's sucks!!!! But a few years from now you'll be sitting around a fire out back with your friends and laughing about the whole experience! At least you two have a great attitude about it. Keep up the good work guys. Stay safe. Looking forward to the next video. Frank---Alberta, Canada
I always enjoy the dogs personalities as they show them with what they are doing. One thing I always appreciate about the two of you is your ability to shrug off missteps or unforseen problems that arise and can still smile. Stuff happens and as Greg said, it's not the end of the world. I'd just bite the bullet and get new windows and sell those three. Gregs are has healed well. Have a good week and I will see you on the next one. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
I think the positivity of the comments is amazing... and being able to laugh is something. Maybe the saying about things coming in 3's is true: cut injuries, paint not staying on roof panels and now wrong size openings. Hopefully you are past negatives???
I suggest taking a photo of the windows orientated in the correct position so that you’re ready to list on marketplace. After that, go ahead and install them with enough screws to support them and to keep the weather out until you get your new windows. I think everything is looking great! From the title of your video, I thought things might be worse. Just a speed bump.😎
Sorry you have a window issue to resolve. Wondering if what you have can be installed as a temporary measure until the correct windows are sourced? Maybe this will allow most of the following work to be done. Glad Greg’s recovery is progressing so well. No more ‘sumo’ lifting 🤣 of Katie is advisable! Thank you for another interesting vlog. 👍Regards.Phil, Suffolk, U.K.🇬🇧
Thanks guys, I really needed that. Katie, you shouldn't be parssal, Steve is really spoiled. Gregg it was beautiful, like breaken entering . Getter DONE. Love your program, watch it all the time. Still haven't figured out the flat roofs. Seems THE snow would be heavy
You only have so many good days left to work outside this season. I would go ahead and install the windows you have. You can put the screen end down and use a prop stick to keep the window open when you desire. I see no harm on that oversight. Save your money, you have it all framed and weatherproofed- just run with it.
Oh yes! When we installed the 5 foot by 5 foot den window and then realized we received the window without safety glass! I gave it to Habitat and went and bought the right one. I was so passed at the salesman! It only cost me an extra $1,100. ONLY!!!!! Oh well, after 17 years that house was sold. Life moves on.😊
Hello Greg and Katie, sorry to hear.. but after seeing the framing finished, the correct windows will look amazing. Plenty of things still to do while you wait for them..
This is going to be lovely! You two are like a well oiled machine working together. By all means, keep that subfloor dry !!! There’s nothing worse than a bulging wet sub floor. Very creative way to revive a non sticky piece of weather taping. When the windows are in it will look like an old fashioned mud porch! Love it!! I have faith you will figure it out!!
Fit the windows as a temporary measure as the bad weather is closing in.If you fit them with the sliding section at the bottom you can open them up and use wood spacers of various lengths to provide ventilation as and when rendering your extension fully usable (you will soon get used to the windows) and you can finish the build and get the correct units at a later date.👍
Yes, please get the windows you want. It will be so nice to have the full wall and all of the light! Glad Greg is healing up nicely. Love your videos. Hugs from Texas.
Hi you guys you are building a beautiful homestead, yup there's always issues with things ie windows. Food for thought most of the old farm houses used to have a double hung style window and when pushing up the bottom half to open a stick was inserted to hold it open. Try one in the opening and see what happens. It looks like you have lots of overhang with you eav so you would have to have a wind blown driving rain to cause any water issues. I know you will figure it out, great video's keep on truckin'.😊😊😊
It will be worth the wait and get the windows you want. Thanks for putting all these videos together. Have watched everyone. Now working on my third house fixing, fixing, fixing, learning all the time. Wish there was You Tube when I started 1974. Now at 81 I ask You Tube for the answers. Great smiles when your tired, sort of angry and have to wait and wait.
I’m glad you are healing Greg. You’re lucky you didn’t have permanent nerve damage. The addition is looking great! Keep the smiles on your faces…you always figure a way😊😊
Greg, I worked as a R&D adhesive chemist for 32 years with waterproofing, underlayment, and flashing. These "pressure sensitive adhesives" work best with 1) pressure (roller or rubber hammer), 2) Temperature (any dispersed propane torch), and 3) time (adhesive "wets-in" better with time). There is a learning curve of subtle tricks that further improve application and initial adhesion, like exposing to the sun to warm it up first, or hitting with a steel hammer instead of a rubber hammer but be careful and see what works for you.
Put them in slider side down. Drill new drain holes. Remember “off grid” and “ re-purpose”. Sometimes these things slow us down but never stop us. I have at lest 5 sliders in our cabin set on their sides, no leaks and were free so it was a win. Looking good over there, nice work.
Good afternoon from the UK! I know someone else who did precisely what you did. They bought new windows because it was less trouble than any other option ... sad for the budget, though. Great vid, as usual!
guys, you should check places that sell overstock of windows. There is a lot of construction out in BC and you may get lucky and fine the exam dimension or even a little larger than what you requiring your frames. I know these places are common in the United States people order windows and they’re the wrong size or someone goes bankrupt, but it could be a solution and I’m almost sure there’s something like that in British Columbia Aside from that great job
Love the addition...I'm going to love the new windows....5 years from now, you'll never feel the disappointment of the mistake, and will love and appreciate the windows you purchased. All good...keep on keeping on! ❤❤❤
The scar from that wound may be there forever, it all depends on how much the skin was damaged. But you were lucky, basically where the cut was, because it could have damaged or cut an artery, and that would've been a huge emergency! I'm glad you healed quickly and the wound doesn't look bad. We have to give it time, but from now on, you have to cover your hands, arms and head a lot more, my friend, don't risk your life anymore!! A hug from afar, from Canada. I really enjoy the videos of your lives and where you live.
Screws are generally the preferred choice for installing windows over nails because they are easier to install, more stable, and offer better holding power: Stability: Screws provide a more secure and durable installation that prevents windows from moving or loosening over time. Adjustments: Screws are easier to adjust during installation, and it's easier to avoid overtightening. Damage prevention: Screws eliminate the risk of damage from hammer blows. Self-tapping screws: These screws are ideal for attaching to aluminum and uPVC window frames, and are also a good choice for fiberglass window frames. Proper fasteners: It's important to use the correct fasteners for installing windows. Nails are often used for large-scale projects because they are cheaper than screws and offer shear strength
I thought nails were used so the vinyl window could expand and contract a little. Feel free to correct me, I’m not an expert, just something I heard at one time or another.
Why not go ahead and install the windows the way they will fit, and just do the minimum so you can have it dried in, then when you get the right windows, just take them out and reinstall the right ones. That way, you can move ahead.
Hi guys, leave the framing as is and wait for the right size windows to come in. Don't change the layout etc. You have other projects to do and the time will go fast and not add to your tasks by redoing things. I like the 3 window front ...lots of light and like you said, there's limited wall space for other items . It looks super.
I also in agreement, get the windows that you need! I can remember when you cleared the land and put in your concrete foundation piling and built your house. You guys did an amazing job. Except for Greg accident, everything went well. Don't compromise for the windows you need. You will find a need for those windows somewhere else. Keep up the good work.
I am sure you will adapt, either by waiting for the right size special order doublel hung windows or reframing using the existing headers or some other adjustment. The plywood on the outside will provide some stability to what ever you decide..
I was taught how to build houses by my high school English teacher. He said being a carpenter is not how well you can build but how well you can hide the mistakes. That's how you make special Characteristics.
Your arm looks like it's healing well. I also would remove the bandage. Let the good air and hopefully a little sun to aid in the process. Also I always use screws in window framing. Makes it easy to remove if need be.
You may already know this. When figuring how many sheets of plywood you need. Work out square footage of all walls and roof. Divide that by 32 and the answer will be the amount of panels you need. Don’t subtract windows and doors in the calculations. You will always use any extra. Like you do. 😁
That is a shame that the windows don't fit. the rest of it looks great, so now you have to order new windows and in the meantime will you put some clear sheeting over the window openings to keep the inside dry
just put them in the wrong way and make inserts to hold the window up. It will match the other windows on the house. Having loads of different size windows that open different ways looks a bit weird in aesthetic terms. A good looking house usually has uniform windows.
I did the same thing. Two windows that were totally wrong. Fortunately the lumber yard took them back without charge. There is always someone wanting to put in a window that will use them. Good luck.
Hi Greg I just want to agree with you about the pain in the in the chest a broken shoulder and I had a flat lung on my right side the only time I feel pain is when I moved so I just wanted to tell you you are so right about that if I say so I didn't feel the pain
Yeah, get the windows you want, don't compromise. As we were building our house, we made several mistakes and went back and corrected them or like you, made the hard choice to spend more to do it the way we wanted, but are SO HAPPY we didn't settle for what we had. Just keep taking your time and it will all come together for you.
Amen.... life goes on. And its too short.
Most Chanels make up titles that are click bait and are not true!! You guys never disappoint!! Great video!!
The way y'all work together is outstanding. I've been married 27 years now and it takes togetherness to keep building a future. Keep on keepin on. The addition is looking awesome.

Don't be to hard on yourselves, Gregg was fitting for his life and still working on the project!! You both ROCK!!
Glad you are mending Greg, and the house is really shapeing up
I always enjoy the dogs personalities as they show them with what they are doing. Hey, I don’t care what others say or mistakes made, you’re still awesome capable carpenters. Keep it up
That sucks but that’s how you learn. You Both are doing great really nice to see you both I hope the arm is healing to 100%
I think the positivity of the comments is amazing... and being able to laugh is something. Maybe the saying about things coming in 3's is true: cut injuries, paint not staying on roof panels and now wrong size openings. Hopefully you are past negatives???
@tjp-re4du Each of his mistakes is unique. Why? Careless?, trying to save money?, and careless again? Why?
Hello Katie and Gregg. Thanks for the new video. Stay healthy and productive as always. Continue loving and inspiring each other..
I suggest taking a photo of the windows orientated in the correct position so that you’re ready to list on marketplace. We live and learn, at least you’re both healthy. It’s not a mistake that you’re ever going to make again. The addition looks fab!
Sometimes a smile and laughter is a good way to cope with life's curve balls. A bath with a beer sounds like a heavenly end to this video.💖💖
You two are such a joy to watch. Thx very much for being who you are.
Sorry you have a window issue to resolve. Wondering if what you have can be installed as a temporary measure until the correct windows are sourced? Oh, I really like this addition!❤
Good morning Katie & Greg from NJ 🙏🙏🙏Blessing’s

You guys are the epitome of cool! Amazing how you roll with the punches and keep smiling .

Looks great like always. Katie that pink shirt is your color. It looks great on you. Love your show.👍
Yes , bite the bullet and order the windows. It's good to see you two work so well together. Please keep the videos coming . Be Blessed.
Just put them in as single hung and cut sticks to hold them open when needed. I made the same mistake. It is totally livable.
that makes sense
So glad it was not any worse. You’re a great guy Greg.
🌼 Just a little speed bump for my favourite young smart vibrant problem solving off gridders! 🌼
Hi guys 🇨🇦

Put the windows the way they need to go have them open vertically and make weep holes on the bottom. Make holes on the bottom of the window.
I'm Happy your cuts have healed . Love the front porch To bad about the windows Hope you can find a solution

We all learn from our mistakes. Fixing it takes time and effort but it pays at the end. Good job and keep up with whatever it takes. 👍 Godbless
Great job👊
Living proof that stuff happens. I think we’ve all been there at some point in our lives. I wish you well and hope for a beautiful final product.👍✌️
Oh darn❗️good luck with the windows‼️I enjoyed the progress of getting the addition closed in and rain protected❗️
Thanks!
Thank you so much
No big deal. Something to look back and laugh at. 😂 Chers. Love your energy.
I'm really glad Greg is healing quickly. As far as the window problem. Just get some more and use the ones you have for the next project. No big deal.
Great channel, you two are an inspiration. Don't quit!

You two are doing a great job.God Bless you all from Cullman Alabama😊
You guys still got a lot done, great job.
Despite the setbacks…you’re building a great homestead and you’re still smiling. Katie enjoy your BB&D. You’ve earned it. Cheers 🥂.

Ya know ya got a Good Man there. Relax, Tomorrow is a new day and if this is the worst, You are both very LUCKY AND BLESSED.

Yes, get the one's you want. The three windows look great!
Looks like Greg us enjoying the Milwaukee tools. The small cutoffs, keep to use for the hot tub fire, kiln dried it should burn pretty hot.
Love your honesty....get the proper windows or it will forever be a distraction. Keep up the good work and keep smiling!

Que susto el accidente no? Me enteré hoy, me alegro de ver que estás muy recuperado y en muy poco tiempo, mantengan se a salvo❤

I would wait and get what you wanted. It’s okay. I know it sucks. You two are so amazing, just roll with the punches. Love these videos.
No point in being miserable; it will be a perfect complement to your house when it’s done. Good job, love those dogs!
I am sure you will adapt, either by waiting for the right size special order doublel hung windows or reframing using the existing headers or some other adjustment. The plywood on the outside will provide some stability to what ever you decide..
Dang!! The addition looks amazing; don’t compromise on the windows you want maybe you can sell the others? 🎉🎉
Greetings from Stillwater, Oklahoma! Keep up the great work!
A very attractive addition to the front of your house
It will all come together It just takes time
its all good, tough that happened yall worked so hard, but its all good, live love and be happy
I was taught how to build houses by my high school English teacher. He said being a carpenter is not how well you can build but how well you can hide the mistakes. That's how you make special Characteristics.
Good morning from New Zealand
You can only smile in these situation's happens to everyone
So glad you are recovering so quick ! The addition looks fantastic ! Can you catch water from gutters for critters ?
Hi there, from a sunny September day in England.
Oh Crap and it looked so good.
The edition is dry, that's good. Waiting gives you what you want. Double vinyl can serve as temporary windows. Ron PTL USA
Your chickens have amazing colours!........ OH NO A MISTAKE!
Your arm looks like it's healing well. I also would remove the bandage. Let the good air and hopefully a little sun to aid in the process. Also I always use screws in window framing. Makes it easy to remove if need be.
I,m glad you guys decided to get the windows you want. I think it will look lovely with the three windows.
Awesome job guys. Love the addition. The windows looks amazing ✌️
Aww man. That really suxs abt the windows lol. But it’s gona looks nice when u get those
Hi Katie & Greg & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Katie & Greg & Friends Randy
The three window design is amazing. Order new ones. You can either repurpose the ones you have or sell.
just put them in the wrong way and make inserts to hold the window up.
Good luck.
Mistakes are an opportunity to learn after all we all make them. Great video
Hi Greg I just want to agree with you about the pain in the in the chest a broken shoulder and I had a flat lung on my right side the only time I feel pain is when I moved so I just wanted to tell you you are so right about that if I say so I didn't feel the pain
I think you guys do an awesome job your windows are just a small bump in the whole of what you have achieved I think your amazing
