UConn looks ahead to face No. 3 UCLA on Friday, November 24 in the Cayman Islands Classic.
I very much agree with Geno, if you look closely at the game, NIKA does not stop giving instructions to the team, especially in defense. She is a game beast!
Nika was not good until the second half. Against a better team; that spurt might not happen. Ducharme and Muhl should come off the bench.
@@TheDisruptiveOne Ducharme yes. Nika contributes a lot that is not always observable on a stat sheet. He recognized it here today. She is also scoring in double figures more regularly than any of the last three seasons which is plenty from her offensively if we get her usual defense too. I also do not want Paige running point + facilitating for herself too. We are not Iowa and don't need a point guard that controls every possession.

If this team can't rebound better, they are going nowhere. They give up way too many offensive rebounds.

Paige Buecker teammate is a excellent ball handler and very good shooter and 💕 the way they embraced each other as friends and WOW!! 2 Division 1 basketball players from same High school on the same court but with different jerseys
Some people need to chill out- it's ONLY November, and they ONLY played 5 games.. It's a LONG season and usually Geno's team continue to improve as the season goes along. The Freshman are ONLY going to get better which will make Uconn a better team in March..Someone made a comment that Geno doesn't sound confident - Really - man has ONLY won 11 NCAA championships..Really..Go Huskies...
Agreed. This team looks weak right now, but the one thing that looks positive is their depth. I foresee KK, Ice, and Qadence all contributing heavily by mid-season and they will need that because the current starting lineup is not good. Nika and Caroline should not be starting.
Fix the starting lineup
Geno does not sound like a confident coach, he is fishing right now and they are not biting . Team has a lot of work to do leading up to Big East play.

I believe we are fine Paige missed damn near 2 seasons they all have to build chemistry again Aaliyah and Nika both are better than what they were freshman year so them plus Paige will take this season to figure it out

Uconn did not look like a top 5 team. Previous Uconn teams would have beaten this opponent by 40. Inside game was terrible just 1 and done and out hustled by Minnesota on the inside. Paige had an off game 4 for 12 and 0 for 5 from 3's and 12 points. Its early but not looking good.
Hi I agree with you the previous uconn team would have gave Minnesota a beat down there inside game the center position doesn't look good at all. What is up with this 6'6 cheerleader on the Bench name Deberry all American can you explain please.
@pauldesantis5333 Paige has a friendship with point guard of Minnesota. Paige played passive offensively against her. But matched up with anybody else, she became Paige again.
UConn has only played four games with alot of new pieces. Then they just lost Azzi so they have to adjust and will like most UConn teams have. They’ll get better with more games and reps. UConn is just missing shots. I’ve seen UConn teams in the past have close games with inferior opponents and still make deep runs in March. Geno’s teams always get better throughout the season. Without Fudd the spacing isn’t the same. Just like last year tho I think they’ll be fine. Just need to keep getting better and play games. Their starters need to play better but they are getting use to having Paige back on the floor and the coaching staff is still figuring out the rotations.
UConn just needs to be more patient running offense and make shots.
They have four freshmen and a player who hasn’t played in two years, so it’s gonna take time.

@@VecksJanae I thought that Azzi’s injury was worst than it was. I thought she tore her ACL and MCL. Well,UConn should just play like they don’t expect her to return.

It’s early in the season. We’ve got 3 true freshmen and Ice is just back from a brutal injury. And we just lost Azzi Fudd. The minutes that KK, Q, Ash and Ice get now are making them better in real time.
KK has gotten better each game. She just needs to get the timing of the speed of UConn/ high level Division 1 games. She was preseason Big East freshman of the Year. If no injuries intrude. She’ll be in the discussion for postseason National Freshman of the Year.
I’ve been watching UConn bball since 1991. Geno knows what he’s doing and KK, Q, Ice and Shade might find their numbers on the wall if no more injuries come their way.
