When something doesn’t run for a few years it can be so much work getting it running. Ask us how we know? 😂😂 11:24 gosh that is a lot of work. That’ll be awesome storage for your corn. What a great scale. Don’t see those around too often. Corn harvest coming soon!
I never should have let it sit this long, but she is up and running great!! Gosh I know, it seems we are in the same boat at times 🤣🤣🤣 I always out off the cleaning until thr very last minute 🤦🏼🤦🏼 Thank you, I do believe with enough care and moisture samples it can be a great option for me storing what I need!! Thank you!! The ole scale was a whim purchase but so glad I found it none the less!! Thank you both so much for always being here, I really appreciate that!! Won't be long now!! 😁😁👌🏻👌🏻🌽🌽🌽
Omg you dent zip tie the straps up on the toats lol it’s looking good so far and I love to go back to the back and look at the gooses lol when I come up there and love you getting the old Ford back to work
I stressed so much about not zip tying them 🤣🤣🤣 I was in a rush 🤣🤣🤣 Look fwd to it!! The ole girl runs way to good to just let her sit!! 😉😉 Thank you Dylan for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌽🌽
One step at a time Mr Matt!! Ole girl does run smooth for sure!!! Can't wait to get the body mounted on it!! Thank you sir for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you very much Mr Louie, fingers crossed it goes well!! I really appreciate that and you always being here!! I hope you do as well my friend!! 👌🏻👌🏻😁😁
So I would be very nervous storing corn that way. It needs to be well under 15% moisture, even maybe 13%. That way it would store with very little hassle. Since you tend to have a warm climate. So storage time frame may not be very long. I can generally store 200,000 bushel of corn for about 6 months and that's dried to 16% and we freeze it January and February and usually by August it needs to be gone. Cuz if the corn heats up it will go from bad to worse and a few days. I would suggest you find some kind of ventilation just to be on the safe side
I do appreciate the great insight, AJ. My plan is to unfortunately wait until we are near 12-13 in the field, shell it slowly, give it time to have some air at least outise air , then put it into the containers. I am figuring that it should be around 1-1.5 weeks and turn around time from shelling until it hits the deer feeders. I do have a plan for longer shelf life while in storesge if it comes to that. But I think the key or curse will be the wait for it to dry down enough before shelling. That in itself creates issues with loss and shatter during harvest, but time will tell! Thank you again for all the great insight and advice, I really appreciate that!! Hope things are going well for ya!! 😁😁👌🏻👌🏻🌽🌽🇺🇲🇺🇲
Hey that will work. It's unconventional but for the first time it gets the job done. My Dad once sacked 14 acres of oats and stored it in the basement. 🌽👍🚜🙂🇺🇸
Gonna give it a shot Mr Will, may fail miserably but we shall see!! I am hoping the tote system works in my favor more so than the bags 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Oh my goodness, that is pure determination right there, I hope to continue to upgrade as time goes along!! Thank you my friend for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 😁👌🏻👌🏻🌽🌽🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

That should work really well for storing the corn as long as it's dry. That's pretty good that the truck started after sitting that long.👌😃👨🌾🛻🚜🚜🇺🇸🇺🇸🍻🍻🌽🌽
That is my downfall, having to wait so long for it to dry, but I hope it all works out though!! Thank you very much !! I have to admit those old ford's are truly bulletproof when it comes to the industrial engines!! Thank you sir for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻🌽🌽🇺🇲🇺🇲👌🏻👌🏻🚜🌾🌾🌱🌱🍻🍻

I’ll be watching Nelson this fall and see how his grain handling system works. I might have to incorporate some of his ideas into my system next year. My system has been in place 20 years now and it’s getting tired.

Well Mr Jeff I think I might have to borrow the tarp idea from you, though, my ocd is gonna be unreal with any spillage 🤔😉🤣🤣🤣 Now to market the new grain handling system , neck garb and big hat all as one 🤔🤔🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Thank you sir for always being, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻🌽🌽
Thank you Mr Tim it will be entertaining to say the least I'm sure 🤣🤣🤣 Fingers crossed, y'all know I dint have the best track record but gonna do all I can!! Thank you sir for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁🇺🇲🇺🇲👌🏻👌🏻
Hey Nelson! There was a guy near here that my uncle would custom harvest for that had a gravity box mounted on an old Ford 1 ton, probably similar vintage as the truck you're using. I don't remember seeing it leave his farm but I do know that he used it. You may need to put some sort of an exhaust fan in the trailer and cut a small hole for an air intake if the grain isn't absolutely dry so it doesn't stay too wet inside the trailer. Just a thought. Since you don't have a dryer, make sure the corn is as dry as possible before you shell it. Storing wet grain doesn't go well especially if it's hot. My wheat this summer was too wet and it ended up molding on me and I had to get rid of most of it, not fun. I think you have a good plan, keep taking one step at a time and you'll get there! Hope you have a good weekend, Nelson!
I can't believe I hadn't thought of it sooner, the ole truck runs great and will be so much easier to get around with in tight quarters!! It may be unconventional, but I think it might just work!! Heck yeah sounds like he had thr same ideas!! I do have plans to put a big 2' ft exhaust fan in tjr nose of the trailer on a timer. I'm thinking a few vents in the doors, and the "unsealed" doors themselves I mugh can keep the air from getting to stale. That's exactly what worries me with harvest, like your wheat. But I think I'm gonna let it dry as much as possible in the field 12-13 percent, then she'll slowly meaning a little at a time. Hopefully that will aid in the storage aspect. But if they all come through it won't be at the farm very long and be in feeders by a weeks end 😉😉😁😁🙏🏻 Thank you very much sir for thr great insight and advice!! Also for always being here, I really appreciate that!! I hope you have a great week as well my friend !! 😁😁🇺🇲🇺🇲👌🏻👌🏻🌽🌽
Good morning Nelson. It's worth the try. Hopefully it works for you. Obviously your U-haul never made it to Wyoming. That is where they went to die. Nice platform scale.
Good morning Mr Bryce!! Gonna give it all I can!! Thank you sir!! I think she lived a modest life here in the Carolinas to be cut short for some reason. Doesn't seem ti be used and abused like most!! I hoped you would see the scales, thought of you with that clip for sure!! Thank you my friend for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁👌🏻👌🏻🌽🌽🇺🇲🇺🇲
Loving the “ pennies on the dollar “ set up on the old U Haul. If you haven’t already rebuilt the carburetor, please do a video on the rebuild. I think that would be very interesting.
Using what we have Carl, no need to get elaborate yet!! 😉 I have the kits on order, gonna do both Fords. I sure will do that , thank you for the input about it my friend!! I really appreciate you always being here, I hope things are well my friend!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲😁😁🌽🌽
I have fought them all season in the field, I sure hope the trailer, and totes makes their munching and thieving very difficult!! Thank you Mr Brent for always being, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁👌🏻👌🏻🌽🌽🇺🇲🇺🇲
Somehow I missed this video until now. Idk but I think steel toe boots with shorts would be as bad with pants. I hate steel toe boots/shoes. We have a set of those scales in the old barn. I think they are becoming highly collectible. I’m burning up just watching you in the box van.
YT is at its finest again in all aspects, no worries at all Russ!! My "fake hey fellow " shoes aren't quite water tight. The extra dew in the mornings gets them soaked right away!! 🤣🤣🤣 Unfortunately the steel toes are a daily must so they aren't anything new for me. That's exactly where these came from, an ole barn!! I have to be honest, it really isn't that bad in there, once I get the exhaust installed I think it will be pretty cool actually. Now that being said, I hope to not be in there long until it cools off and my corn is dry enough. Thank you Russ, for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 😁😁👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇲🇺🇲🌽🌽🌽
I was tickled to run across that, and works like a charm!! We have really been up and down. Memorial Day weekend we got 2" of rain in a storm. It really pepped things up this past week. I cut what little I still do yesterday, it honestly recovered great from the June drought. Prayers for all yall that the rain comes and maybe a decent last cutting! Thank you Mr Tom for always being here, I really appreciate that!! 🇺🇲🇺🇲😁😁👍🏻👍🏻🌽🌽
I have a question. I suspect you will be shelling corn when it’s 85-90 degrees and then you are gonna fill those containers with corn the same temperature. Have you got a plan for cooling the grain down?
@@onehappyfarmer3461 I just asked him the same thing on Instagram I guess if he’s not keeping it for very long it wouldn’t be a big deal but if it’s gonna sit there for quite awhile it might be a big deal
Well I am hoping to let it really dry down in the field may 12-13 percent before shelling starts. Then I will most likely have to shell very little at one time to give it time naturally( much as it will) cool down some before storing it. I'm hoping to get an exhaust fan installed on the trailer to help move a little air at least on the surface. But fingers crossed that most of it leaves within a few days as I shell it. I'm still trying to figure a really good way to help with that exact situation as the years unfold. But with no more than I do I guess the safest bet for now is to keep the moisture very low before ever shelling. I'm sure that none of that will go as planned, but time will tell 🤣🤣🤦🏼🤦🏼 Thank you Mr Jeff for always being, I really appreciate that!! The insight is very helpful , and much appreciated 😁😁👌🏻🌽🌽🇺🇲🇺🇲
Andy that is my (in my mind) my safety net do to speak. Hoping to really let it dry down in the field 12-13 maybe then shell it slowly, so I can move it too the customers quickly. My plans are like Swiss cheese, lots of holes but I have to see what is going to work the best with my circumstances. Letting it dry down alot is nice, but could be a curse with weather loss during harvest though. Thank you sir for always being here, I really appreciate!! The insight and advice is very much appreciated as well 😁😁👌🏻👌🏻🌽🌽🇺🇲🇺🇲
