Hill 112 sounds like Falkenhayn's thinking for Verdun. Draw them in, and bleed them white. How many evacuations have we never heard of because they were unsuccessful?
Not sure that counts, because they only removed MacArthur, his family, and some of his staff. The rest of his command was up the proverbial creek. I think that makes it more of a rescue.
