This might make for a fun surprise granny square blanket. Like you shuffle the cards, pull one out of the middle and that's the square you have to do next, then for the next square repeat the process.
The chair of my crochet club bought one of these card decks for everyone and we have been working thru the patterns together. The focus of course is strengthening our ability to read charts. Very handy item, we like it a lot.
Indeed! It also feels like this concept (not necessarily limited to Granny Squares) could be transformed into something that can be collected on a subscription basis. Imagine some kind of neat folder in A4 size that you can fill with equally sized cards with patterns that come every week or two or so.
Found a legitimate one, I’ll even pay the shipping. How to read charts is great. I started crocheting over 60 years ago and they’re were no charts 😊 I’m glad I found your video first 😊
These crochet cards are absolutely stunning! 🧶The craftsmanship is incredible, and they add such a unique touch to any occasion. Definitely a perfect way to add a personal touch to any gift or greeting! 💌
Thank you Robin, A super idea, for those of us with difficulties reading the charts, & absolutely perfect for beginners especially young one's. Definitely going to purchase for my friend who wants to learn crochet & a friends young one who has just started crocheting. And thank you so much for the heads up about fake copies. ♡
What a really clever idea! Not only can you use it for creative planning, the little cards could also be used as pieces of art themselves. Thank you for sharing this!
I just bought my set from Claire yesterday, and can’t wait to get my delivery! There have been so many times when I’ve been in a place where popping out a full book just isn’t an option, but a simple card would be a brilliant solution! 😊 I have seen so many fake listings for this deck, it’s. crazy!! These people and the platforms that allow them to do this type of thing - profit theft - are truly horrible!! Thank you for directing people to legitimate sources, and making the community aware of this situation.
I will have to have this NOW! I absolutely love this. My favorite part is laying out the squares in a pattern before you start. So many different ideas to choose. Great use for leftover yarn you don’t have enough for a full project. I am not good at charts but I am thinking I might have to learn. Thanks for sharing 💜
Thanks so much for doing this review, I’d seen this and wondered how useful it would be. It’s great to get the thoughts of an experienced and respected crocheter and be given the warning to beware of fakes. X
You have done it again Robin, your generosity in sharing this delightful box is appreciated. It is absolutely great for crocheters or as a gift to beginners or even established ones. I know that if I was given this as a present I would be over the moon with joy. And, it doesn’t have to be just for Xmas, a birthday present or just because ………..no reason to show love and appreciation to someone. Maria 🌷🧶🧶🌷
Thanks for sharing this. I think it's really great! I hope to buy one for myself and for one of my granddaughters whom I have introduced to crochet. She's in her twenties and has just started her first primary school teaching job. I was a primary teacher and always found that having some craft up my sleeve helped enormously with some young children as extra curricular activities. The bright beautiful packaging is enough to draw one in to buying this product. Thanks again Robin and for your wonderful tutorials.
I love the card deck and will make sure I order the original from Claire. I would love to teach granny squares to a group friends who do not crochet. This would be a perfect introduction and give each person the ability to choose their own design. I have the same concept of yoga cards for kids, where I could plan out a yoga routine by pinning the pictures of poses on a string. I could also let each child pick their favorite pose and pin it to the string. We could come back in a week and add to the string or replace poses. I just love the simplicity, the variety of ways to learn, and the choices of colors. Excellent idea!
I don’t know how to read a chart and never made a granny square but I’m up for the challenge. I’ll be checking my local Joann’s for this. Thank you for the info!
Went to Claire's website and ordered 2 boxes. 1 for me and 1 for my daughter-in-law we both have problems trying to make out pattern symbols and that seems an easy way to learn. Thank you for the heads up ❤
I love this thank you for making us aware. I did just buy mine from Amazon, but I checked the ISBN number and it was the same press. It had a lot of information in front so fingers crossed I’ve got
I just ordered mine from Amazon. The ad/listing makes reference to the counterfeit ones and assures us the ones they sell are by Claire. I just watched a video of someone who thought they were buying the real ones and then after receiving them, saw she was , as she says "duped" so she got the real ones at Barnes and Noble and showing both boxes there is a huge difference. She also said the cards are not as sturdy (yeah the thickness is 1/2 the size as she shows the box) and the box itself is flimsy compared to the real one. AND she paid more for the counterfeit ones! I am so glad I saw Robin's video and the other video - sorry I forgot which one it is - before buying them. I might have been duped also.
I love this! I have not used a chart because all of my patterns I learned off UA-cam. I am a bit intimidated by the idea. However, this piques my curiosity. It could be so fun just drawing a random card [pr 2,3 or 5] and making a project. Thanks for a good Christmas present idea ❤
I love it! I’ve been crocheting and knitting for years, and love using the chart patterns. I got addicted to the chart patterns when I first purchased a subscription to Magic Crochet when it use to be only patterns for very intricate and lacy doilies, motifs, and tablecloths. People if new to crocheting may need to play around with the needle size for their yarn, and how they crochet themselves. Some crochet tight, some loose, some in the middle. All can cause the size to vary. But these charts are easier than it looks. If need be with a pencil lightly shade over the section you completed so you don’t get confused as to where you are at. When finished you can lightly erase the pencil, but be careful not to erase the pattern. If you do, just quickly ink it in where it was erased. If people want they can just photocopy a pattern, then work from it, and pencil off each step as they go. Then there is no problem having to erase. People may also want to find a ring notebook and buy some sleeve covers where they can slip 4 cards in per sleeve. It’s best to have sleeves that the cards can slide in from the sides rather than top or bottom, and preferably from the side where the sleeve attaches to the rings of the binder. This way the cards stay on place better, and don’t fall out when grabbing for the ring binder notebook. Something for the author to consider selling as a side product. Binders could look like a giant granny square, or many of them together. Have a clear pocket on the side to add a 1, or 2, etc, to coincide with her series of packs. This way the cards don’t rub together, and at the flip of a sleeve page in the binder people can see the patterns quicker. Protects the cards from spills as well when using them. This pack of granny square cards is fantastic! Hope she puts out a sequel or two. Love granny squares, and there are just so many variations of them they are endless! Thank you for telling about this products. Blessings, and take care. Love your channel.
So nice to see the square in the same size, and same number of stitches per side. Very clever😁. I think I need one in my Christmas sock. Love charts. Nice to hear from you On creative grandma too! Have a great day
Thank you for all the information on the box I think they are great I am thinking of getting myself it I live here in the UK and thank you so much for telling us where I can get it from cannot wait to get it and do a mixed blanket myself ❤❤❤❤
Robin, this is a great idea! Better than a book, for sure. I'm going to ask this for Christmas. BTW, I was just in the Live with you, it was delightful to see you there. My two favorite channels together! Many thanks for all that you do for us! MaryAnne in New Mexico USA
Thank you sooo much for showing me these, I have just ordered a box from Amazon following your link. Have a very Happy Christmas and I look forward to seeing your videos next year 🥰xx
Oh my gosh, I need this in my life! I love granny squares! Thanks for taking the time to put together a trusted list for us. Luckily, I have a Barnes & Noble just down the way.
I really like charts! Learned how to read them years ago and I find it easier to follow than the written patterns. I am thinking Christmas gift for a particular person💖
I love this! So popular 11/24/2024 Barnes & Noble Sold out! The creator Claire’s website is sold out too! How fabulous for her! Thanks for sharing Robin❤
Yes yes yes have spotted these and they were displayed in my local yarn shop in St Neots, and yes agreed on the fake sources and when I can I will be buying them directly from her website xx
@HookedbyRobin no she only had one pack on display as beautiful bunting which is what drew me to it. I think the shop owner and Claire know each other (i think) as they were pictured together either on Instagram or fb, but so beautiful! Love your work too Robin thank you for all your amazing videos tutorials and giving me MORE ideas for projects lol xxz
Just saw this video...terrific concept. Went to Claires website only to find SOLD OUT posted with the Card Deck. Will keep looking. Am in US and the local Michaels and JoAnns doesn't have this in stock. Thanks for beinging this wonderful item to our attention. The hunt is on!
I think we sold her out! She will be restocking soon, someone in the comments says they had success getting it from Barnes & Noble if that helps your search!
I have loved this idea since I fist saw them, then all the fakes came along resulting in me not purchasing these, yet! Thank you for this video, now I know where I can find the real ones at. These will be great for travel for sure! Great car crochet projects!
Thank You!!!!!! I'm so excited to purchase this product. Your Website brings so much joy to my heart. You are, by far, the best at demonstrating stitches and introducing new projects. Here you go again, bringing your followers nifty products. So grateful!!! One question, is the instruction booklet written for UK terms?
Robin It's brilliant 👍. Actually seeing the squares same size as double knitting/8 ply squares is easier than books which have their worth of course. I like the concept and I'll see if it's being sold here in Australia. Thank you for your great crochet videos 👍🙏🏻☺🌹. Have a beautiful blessed day 🙋🏼♀️.
This is BRILLIANT ❣ 😍 👏👏👏. I enjoy using charts, I'm buy this, it'll be an early birthday gift to myself, lol. Thank you Robin for making us aware of the fakes out there.
Just ordered the card deck and thank you for the ISBN number. Also, I put in the mail some crocheted poppies. They will probably arrive in the UK in mid-December as I am in Houston, Texas.
I looked on Amazon, there is a warning saying be careful, these are fake. I looked on Claire's site via your link - they're sold out! I wanted them for Christmas, but I'll wait 'till my Birthday in Feb. I sent her a message asking if she knows when they'll be back in stock. I'd rather wait . Sarah x
Oh dear me - looking at yours, I’m pretty sure I must have bought a knock-off through Amazon a few months ago. In fact I bought two - one was supposed to be a Christmas gift. But what I have is much smaller, the booklet is nearly impossible to read because of the tiny print, and the colors are not as vibrant as what you are showing. I had no idea this was a knockoff!!! Just thought it was something that hadn’t quite lived up to its promise. I’m SO sorry to have inadvertently participated in fraud. I will most certainly buy the real deal now through your link. Thanks very much, Robin.
@ Thank you- I just ordered a set through the bookseller Barnes and Noble. I think it was legit!! Claire Montgomerie’s website apparently doesn’t ship to the US (or at least it doesn’t like my Texas address, lol!). Hopefully I’m getting the real thing this time.

Maybe even with mini skeins just enough to accomplish the given pattern.
Amazing concept. I wish the creator all the best in getting rid of the fake copies.
This is a great idea. I’m thankful you made us aware of the correct one to buy.

Looks like it would be great for picking things at random and maybe getting your “crojo” back when you’re stuck 👏🏻

The charts are universal, the booklet uses USA terms but there is a conversion guide which shows both UK & USA terms clearly next to the symbols :)
