This video is a taxonomic nightmare. It made me laugh several times. But the fact that these videos get tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of views is quite upsetting.
These debunking videos are gonna be very helpful to someone like me so I don’t misunderstand spider because of dumb videos by the internet so I’m gonna watch this whole playlist.
I am pretty sure that Spider number 11 and 12 are the Giant Photoshop Spider (Bullsheeticus Majoricus Interneticus Photoshopicus) and the Antarctic Giant Photoshop Spider (Bullsheeticus Majoricus Interneticus Photoshopicus Dickus Longus).... :D
5:55 I wouldn't worry about it. Taxonomists don't know how to pronounce Latin either. You will learn different Latin pronunciation from biologists than from actual Latin experts. The list didn't necessarily need to be made up of 10 tarantulas because "large" can imply width as well as mass. I'm personally not offended by Huntsmen being included. I don't necessarily disagree with Huntsmen being considered some of the scariest spiders. Venom aside, their size and the speed at which they move are two big contributors to people's spider fear, irrational as it may be. I know I would personally be more jittery knowing there were a full grown huntsman in my room as opposed to a tangleweb like the widow or redback, whose location is almost guaranteed not to change, lol. I don't get any pleasure from making fun of someone's work even if it's wrong. That said, I'm out of defenses for this video. The amount of work put into the research was disappointing, though the amount of information one can find on arachnids in comparison to anything else isn't great to begin with. I appreciate the work you do informing people. I especially liked your explanation of taxonomy.
Huntsmens are for sure on the list of largest spiders in the world, some here in Australia are fucking huge. The biggest species i think could rival the Goliath bird eater in leg span.
I was talking more about mass than legspan. Some huntsmen and golden orbweavers have massive legspans, but they're still nowhere near as heavy as a tarantula.
No need to be sorry. Such insignificant mistakes happen time to time. It's not like you made a fake new taxon within species and called it a seperate species. "Heteropoda maxima is a species of huntsman species, but it's own species?" :p
Lair of Centipedes - You seem like a Botanist and Zoologist yourself with your explanations... However, the American narrator, although wrong, was probably trying to say that Camel Spiders, Scorpions and Spiders are of the same 'Class' - Arachnid... He made a mistake... but as you say... its a big one if you want to learn Taxonomy correctly. 😊
He didn't make a mistake. He got lucky with one or two things that were actually right. That is shorter than pointing out all the mistakes he made. And, as a zoologist, I think people make videos to inform people, maybe even educate them. If you want to see a bullshit video, I would redirect to a video about a cattle farm, fighting bison or maybe even watch an elephant in musth. Loads of bullshit in those videos. But seriously, if you show a coconut crab and pretend it is a spider, you need to stop sniffing glue or something else. I mean, the relation with a spider stops at the phylum Arthropoda. They are as much related to spiders as to flees.
That was a great video really enjoy when I can learn something new thank you I have something to talk about at dinner tonight when we ask what did you learn today
Dude. Are you British because I caught a hint of fellow British in your accent. I remember watching that video. I believed it as well but now that I've heard someone who knows what they are talking about. I'm also Arachnophobic but your videos don't bother me. I used to be beyond terrified of Huntsman Spiders and now I'm just terrified because you told me that they aren't actually dangerous and you explained why
I'm Australian but I grew up watching mostly British shows, be it comedy or documentaries. So that'd certainly have an effect on the way I speak. Glad to hear my videos are helping you with your fear! Hope you're able to conquer it once and for all. I used to be scared of spiders myself.
@@BugsandBiology I don't think I'll ever stop being scared of Spiders. Small ones like the jumping spider are ok as I know the jumping spider is harmless and it's pretty cute but any others and I'll never hold one
Can I ask you how long do spiders live for in their usual enclosures you use for your pet arachnids ? I bet that your fed up answering this question as you've probably been asked it many a time
"Number 8 . Brazilian Salmon Pink Birdeater. Don't let the name of this spider scare you it doesn't actually eat birds." It FEEDS EXCLUSIVELY ON HUMANS AND CUTE BABY KITTENS!!!!!!! MUHAHAHA (Evil and totally insane laughter, while twirling my evil crime boss moustache...) - Am I doing it right Lair of Centipedes? Can I make the next Facts Verse video on spiders THAT EAT HUMANS ALIVE? :D :D :D
im almost positive its pronounced "POE-SAH-LA-THEORY-UH" (basically the way the narrator in this HORRIBLE Top 10 video said it was correct from my experience)... at least thats how its said 99.9% of the time here in the U.S.... literally u and Tom Moron of "Tom's BIG Spiders" are the ONLY 2 ppl iv EVER heard say "PEA-COLA-THEORY-UH"...
Cheers, I swear nearly everyone I listen to pronounces it slightly different haha. It's very plausible I could be wrong about it as well - an an Australian, I'm not super well versed on exotic tarantulas as we cannot keep them.
Imagine how weird a huntsman would look if it had the body proportions said in the video. It would make mouse spiders look normal.
It'd basically be a giant tick haha
If you ever hear “Facts Verse presents” prepare for some advanced level bs.
I generally just assume any channel with "facts", "did you know" and "top (insert number)" in its name/video titles will be full of misinformation.
"Scaring people is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be *not actual spiders* "
Coconut crab: “wtf am I doing here?!”
This video is a taxonomic nightmare. It made me laugh several times. But the fact that these videos get tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of views is quite upsetting.
Alright quick correction, the tarantula at 4:50 is a Hapalopus species, not Cyriocosmus elegans.

I really like your sense of humor.
there was once a woman who saw a spider and thought it was a halloween decoration. it was a funnel web spider and she got bitten by it and almost died
Woooow that's bad. I know why I'm not watching those videos. Hats off to you for dealing with this bullshit
I love that the correct jargon is used by you also
T. blondi is the biggest spider by mass, but H. maxima is bigger when it comes to legspan.
Yeah I'm aware. Should've clarified, but when I said the entire list should be composed of tarantulas, I was referring to mass.
Please do a reaction to monster bug wars
My dude, destroying the bullshit yet again. You gotta love it. Keep it up man!
Cheers! Yeah I'll admit it feels satisfying every time I upload one of these videos. Hopefully one day they'll get some proper attention.
9:00 my guess is someone made a spider out of.....dog...hair..?

I also watch archaeological videos and most will put wrong images with the subject being discussed
Yeah these channels do the same thing for all sorts of topics.
Huntsmens are for sure on the list of largest spiders in the world, some here in Australia are fucking huge. The biggest species i think could rival the Goliath bird eater in leg span.
I should make my own reaction
I was talking more about mass than legspan. Some huntsmen and golden orbweavers have massive legspans, but they're still nowhere near as heavy as a tarantula.
Oh here we go. Wrong species
As a naturalist, that video sure pissed me off
Wow! We just witnessed a murder!
The Theraphosid in 4:50 is Hapalopus sp. Colombia "Large".
Yup definitely not C. elegans. Either way, it's funny to see a pic of a dwarf species in a video about "largest spiders" lol
@@Trupiato
Yeah, although that wouldn't be the worst thing about the video. :D
@@ahmetkerem4769 haha true that!

The amount of gullible people in its comment section.
I absolutely love this video. Facts and star wars references! May the dark side serve you well!

Yeah that was pretty cringe, misinformation to the Maxima. xD
I don't want to admit how long it took for me to get that pun

Something's wrong with your video again. I can only hear you on my left earbud lol
Honestly, though, a few of these spiders would give me a heart attack if I saw them and wasn't expecting to see them. Spiders and I are not friends.

Well that depends on the species' lifespan. Funnelwebs and other mygalomorphs like tarantulas can live over two decades.
@@BugsandBiology Thanks for your reply. 20 years is a lot longer than I was expecting.
This made me pee a little.
They say H. hercules and then show a A. geniculata and a C. cyaneopubescens like what !?!?!?!
