Rap has been around for a very long time with many of the founding fathers/rap OG’s still very much alive today, advocating for rap to more than just mumbling, Eminem has also gone out numerous times to get into a dissing streak with a rapper to prove to everyone that Eminem still has it. Eminem’s diss was with MGK was the biggest beef and made it known how he felt about the new generation. Eminem vs MGK was so big and it was surprising how much people and hype was building up off of it. In this video, we break down Rap OG's React to Cringey Mumble Rappers... As a guy who enjoys hip-hop/rap, but is more of a metalhead, I will say that, regardless of how important a given rapper has been (post 2005ish), I just can't listen to them. I really love rap from the early 2000s, 1990s, and even the 1980s, but today's hip-hop/rap is so similar and awful that I can't even give a single rapper that I genuinely enjoy today.
Try NF, he is different. As an intro listen to Lost or Clouds. His music has alot of story behind it and he is a lyrical artist. Also if you wanted to try something a litlle different try popular monster.
You lookin at the wrong artists, there’s plenty of new artists like polo g, morray, 2kbaby, rod wave, and so many more that don’t mumble and all have great lyrics

I mean metalheads and rappers work together a lot, especially in the 90s and early 2000s. An example being KoЯn and Ice Cube's "Children of the KoЯn" and Limp Bizkit working with Wu Tang Clan a lot too. Oh I almost forgot that KoЯn also did a song with a member from Pharcyde called "Cameltosis"
I listen to various genres and pretty much all of the OGs in each genre are alike. They all lament over how the innovation and skillfulness has gone away and have been replaced by safe, trashy versions of the genre.

I never understood Drake, if anything he was the end of rap and help the skinny jean era today, just doesn’t have that persona or voice, too soft. Just a singer or lyricist, don’t think one of his songs will be memorable. That’s what R&B is good at.
Some of these opinions can be applied to all genres of music. Personally I am a fan of jazz and similar opinions about new generations of jazz musicians and composers. Always respect the OG's.
