I'm 21 seconds in and already reminded of why I love Paz. I got plenty of disagreements over his lyrical content but damn the man is astute and genuine.
End of Days is silly garbage. Paz doesn't really have a coherent political vision so one song will be a really tremendous and factual summary of a Howard Zinn book and the next will be complete nonsense about how Al Qaeda and the Saudi Wahabists are freedom fighters. He's still a weapons grade MC and a charming guy.
Same here been listening for around 10 years. I'm 24. You should check out the 90's and 80's man. Big daddy Kane ,Rakim , KRS one. Pete Rock n CL smooth. You'd be surprised how fucken good the golden eras were man.
IMO mumble rap is just a phase of hip hop just like crunk rap was. Mumble rap recently just began and it’s already played out and it’ll be gone soon. No matter what phase hip hop is in the mcs that have skill will always be around and will always have the top spot.
Unfortunately "Mumble Rap" isn't going anywhere. It started in 2011-2012 and its almost 2020 in a couple of years. You fail to realize that Hip-Hop is still a "Young Mans Sport". It's reflective of the youth & generation. No matter how degenerative or dysfunctional it is. Many of the new wave of rapper cite these rappers as their influence: 1)Chief Keef (Keep in mind he's still only 21-22) 2)Gucci Mane 3)Lil' B 4)Lil' Wayne 5)Waka Flocka Flame Note: Honorable Mention - Soulja Boy Now take the names I mentioned. And the music of the "new wave" which influences the culture of today. The next wave of rappers will be just as bad or worst than the current generation of rappers. You will see a new wave of "Lil' Pumps, 6ix9ines, and Xxxtentacions" in the next ten years. It's best to find another genre or literally find artist who still have substance, if you still can find any after 2020.
Vinnie Paz is a legend far as I'm concerned, I can't stand these modern mumble rapping drugged out hipsters in skinny jeans bro, I grew up in the 90's/2000's on baggy jeans big t-shirts an good rap and rock
He’s not a mumble rapper... He’s riding on the previous successes of cats like Lil Jon and Bone Crusher. His style is more akin to that dirty south crunk music people were bumpin in the 2000’s.... Though he has been getting more quiet with his delivery lately now that hes blown up
Tekashi is much more than that, he’s a Top Tier striker for Mexico’s International team, while goal keeping for Barcelona. Step aside Ter Stegen, there’s a new guero in town.
He’s going down as one of the greatest MCs to walk the earth along with immortal technique, rugged man, pretty much all of AOTP, outer space, Reel wolf and of course Jedi mind, also ill bill! We are privileged to grow up in this gen with all these stars!!!
Reel wolf ain't a group nor an artist .... All of AOTP?? Lol do you even know all the members? And which aotp because there was many versions of it. Lol. But I get what you're saying.
Mumble rap made me love old rap again... and the industry sent me searching underground... there is still good shit out there... one of them you showed me on this channel... thank you Mr. Rogan
This was a phenomenal interview with one of the best MC’s of all time without a doubt. I just wish that Vinnie was a little less humble and that Joe delved deeper into the seriousness of his lyrics and extracted some insight on the super raw and undeniably violent shit that he spits. Would have been great to get an inside look on where that comes from. I’ve seen Paz perform in person twice and I’m not exaggerating when I say that this mans presence changes the temperature of the room... dude is no joke
@@jonnyaufiero4622 Vins worth a couple mil man. Might not seem like it but hes got his hands on JMT (obviously), AOTP, HMK, and more. Matter of fact his next solo album drops tomorrow, dudes a workaholic lol always on tour
I hope vinnie pazz get SOOOOO many new followers from being on the JRE.. Vinnie pazz is one of the greatest rappers of all time. He doesnt get the spotlight he deserves.
I honestly dont care for Mumble Rap, I like rap with lyrics and bars that make me go OH DAMN that was fire like Old Tupac and Biggie Smalls, and honestly if they are mumble rapping over a good beat I always just look up an instrumental of that beat cause the mumbling takes away from the track to me tbh.
10 cool points from me too. Joe knows hiphop. Still to this day I think "moment of truth" is one of the best hiphop albums ever made. RIP Guru. And Dj Premier is STILL making classic tunes. It's amazing.
What about the radio and tv stations that play it? Kids will buy garbage as long as its in a cool package. These 'artists' are too young and high to make good descions. The managers and promoters are the ones behind mumble rap. There's still good stuff out there, it just doesn't get promoted.
The wack music back in the day was usually recognized as silliness even during it's time and made fun of, aside from a few one hit wonders. Never was the wack music all that was played on the radio, all that was talked about in the music press and all that won any awards. Never was the only good music underground or indie. This is definitely a new phenomenon, primarily brought on by the fact that 20 somethings don't buy albums, in fact no one buys albums. It's all streaming ad revenue, and who has the time to stream constantly? 11-16 year olds using their parents' internet subscription. This is why modern music is geared toward children with underdeveloped frontal lobes as opposed to the 18-34 demographic like it always had been in the past.
Wack music ha always been a thing. You just look back and remember the greats. But we’ve always had rich famous terrible musicians in every genre since the beginning of time. They just don’t get talked about much now since the shitty one’s stayed irrelevant over the test of time. But if you go back to refresh your memory we’ve always had bad music promoted to the top. Let’s be real.
Diffrince being back in the days people actually needed to have some kind of talents, either able to play an instrument or atleast sing. ''Terrible'' isint the same because you dont like it, this is terrible, because its talentless shit spewing of no words. Hey you might not like an old psychadelic group from the 60's and maybe you find it shit, but atleast they had the talent to play and sing for themselves.
Agree with you on that. I think the biggest difference is wack shit got no love back in the day. Now wack shit is the biggest thing out. The crazy part to me is a lot of these mumble rappers can actually rap if they wanted to. An example I was given by killer mike is future. He told me and my people one time having this same discussion that future was a rappers rapper. Straight spitter but he never went anywhere with it. Started the auto tune lean shit and blew up 🤷🏻♂️. So who the hell knows.
Part of the problem is record labels. Part ot the problem is radio stations. Part of the problem is lack of culture. Part of the problem is lack of originality. Hip hop wasn't always meant to be "cool" hip hop was meant to spread a message. Meant to educate in a different way in which most people can relate with. Radio staions and governments doesn't want rappers speaking truth and wisdom. They don't want the youth growing up with knowledge. They want sheep.
True but back then they weren’t held to high standards like they are now! Like I don’t remember people saying yo young mc is dope as fuck or vanilla ice is sick, now I have young kids looking at me like I’m crazy for NOT thinking young thug or lil uzi is dope!
Talking while repeatedly a getting broom rammed up your ass is what Danes call Swedish. I've heard about a new trend in Sweden where you would have immigrants doing it to you 😘
Degofhas what? If someone could take 10 seconds to compare Swedish and Danish, you would be able to hear the alphabet in Swedish words. Meanwhile, Danish, sounds literally like someone has a BBC down their throat. You can never sort out the words. Its like talking whilst being strangled. Danes, the littlebrothers. Also funny when they dont think they have a MAJOR problem with immigrants. So bad they banned the burqa. Not that I care about the burqa.
@@pyromaan8799 I'm quarter Danish, quarter Swedish, half Finnish and a third Mexican. From my uncle's side. So whilst I enjoy talking whilst getting a broom shoved up my ass, I also enjoy a BBC down my throat. And Enchiladas with guacamole. Life is about choices.
Yes its drug culutre its not about the lyrics as much as the melody and the feeling and far as the phrase thing you repeatedly chant the same thing to make it stick
@@freeecountryy personal opion i grew up on og hip hop but i still like a lot of what ppl call mumble rap i consider it alternative rap some is real ghetto trap shit and some will put you in a trance and some if you were tonread the lyrics its got bars its like nirvana all great songs and lyrics but he distorted words on purpose because its about the music and the feeling it gives you
So if I understand how you are explaining it then all it is is trance or trap with someone mumbling over the beat? All trance music was the same chorus over and over to a beat. I can see why kids and young adults like it because it is different. Listening back to No Limit Soliders and shit like that that we thought was the shit 20 years ago is absolutely terrible now but our parents and adults didnt like or get it so we thought it was amazing LMAO

Did I just hear Joe Rogan mention Gang Starr ? Legendary music I implore you to do your research if you haven't heard of them & are interested in what pure Hip Hop sounds & feels like
"I listen to Nas" foreal Joe, I miss the days of True MC's not these new age trash "rapper's" ... I still just listen to old shit Nas, Big L, Big pun, Wutang, the lox, ect...
Dawg there’s still better lyricists out there than all the guys you mentioned besides pun maybe. Check out Joey badass, earl sweatshirt, Kendrick, jid, Bishop Nehru, Mach hommy
michael clarkin I didn’t say that, I said there ARE rappers who have that skill and beyond. Not all modern rappers are better. If you have twist my words that far to come up with a response, which was still shit, why even say anything fam?
Rakim basically made the 18th letter in the image of new school style and crushed it. He got it. The 90s were still considered the golden era. I WOULD DARE SAY THAT Rakim would listen to Ludacris and Nelly. This mumble rap shit is on another level of stupid.
Luda was a great rapper who had lyrics but he had a lot of party anthems so people lump him with the rapper who dont care about the craft. Nelly wasnt a great lyricist & didnt have skill as an MC at all but his melodies were really good & he crafted great songs that had structure in it even though he was nothing more than a pop rapper, Hot in Here & Coutry Grammy are more organic records that have structure in it compared to a repetitive Gucci Gang song like Lil Pump that sounds obnoxious
I know that happens where the old generation calls the new generations musi c garbage because they don't understand it. Like adults in the 60s thought the beetles were garbage. But they were actually really musically talented. Same with the 70s. Led Zeppelin and pink Floyd. Considered rock and roll garbage buy adults but actually really good. I think mumble rap is its own special case where for once the old generation is actually right and it's garbage.
-Right?!?! yeah the older generations feelt like music in the 60's 70's etc was shit, but lets be honest here, they can sing, they can play thier instruments, they litterly create real music and real lyrics, they actually proforme!.... repeating one word is not hard.
@@Markpichot I'm 19 and completely agree with rampage. What the hell happened to well written lyrics, and people writing songs with meaning rather than whatever will earn the most money.
@@Markpichot I don't hate all pop music. I love Michael Jackson for instance but fuckin despise Nicki Minaj and and any other whore or man slut up on stage dancin around in next to no clothes singin the same few words over and over again while also writing songs that all sound the same.

I was partying n doing all the shit Eminem was doing when he came out. I remember sitting around 1 of our spots, after a wkend of partying n no sleeping n Eminem had his rolling stone cover, we were cracking up cause he looked as fkd up as us. People call him the goat, I'm a lil older, late 80s early 90s hip hop is my favorite hip hop...not music, some stuff. I listen to all different shit. My kids listen to that shit n they ain't getting fkd up..I'm a recovering addict, I'd know. I've tried to figure out WTF these kids see in it. My boys tell me it's the beats? Back in the day the DJ had the good beats (better beats) u could dance to, like he said and we had mcs that are poets. These dudes can't rap. They're definitely on lean, xanax, molly n booze, bud...I love rock too tho n rock stars aren't any good now either, a couple are, but shit, when we were coming up, every band was fkn partying...and could still play music...this shits hopefully just a bad fad. My pap used to call all music I listened to jungle music...haha, wasn't being racist... punk, rap, rock, reggae...all crap to my grandparents generation...I don't think that's what this is. Just sucks. There are some new songs I'll catch myself liking, but vast majority of music nowadays is fkn boring or just bad.
As a humble enjoyer of hip-hop, I have listened through multiple generations on rap and never felt like any new style was better or worse, just different. Mumble rap sucks, it is worse. It's what happens when rap culture starts leading the product rather than the rap leading the culture. It's the classic carriage leading the horse situation.
Skrooge Lantay Ok, but here's something you miss, something happening currently isn't necessarily the new paradigm, it's just a trend. Where is disco? A dead genre. Where is New Wave? Dead genre. In a couple years mumble rap will be a dead subgenre and things will move on, rap will not just sound like this now hahaha
@Skrooge Lantay nah, because at least gangsta rap had substance and craftsmanship to it. Mumble rap is literally just niggas getting high and mumbling while more talented people produce the beat and engineer the song into something listenable
Skrooge Lantay yes of course you can bring that up but at least gangster rap has actual fucking words to it, they have a subject matter to their songs and their lines actually rhyme which is what raps about. rhythm and poetry is what rap stands for. there’s nothing at all poetic about some brain dead junkie with face tatts and coloured hair acting all feminine mumbling about the same shit in every song.
I love how level-headed he is about it. So many people talking shit about mumble rap in the comments, but it is what it is. Even Vinnie can see it's just the new wave for this next generation of kids. Don't worry about what they're doing and support the music you DO love
It's def a generational thing and i'm glad he acknowledges that. you get older and you don't like the same shit anymore. or the new shit doesn't appeal to you because you're not 20 anymore. it's ok to get old gracefully and not try to feebly cling to your youth and not really understand what the kids are into anymore

Peter Ortiz I'm an mc thank you 🙏
Peter Ortiz I think mumble rap is only popular because it’s usually a good beat but shitty rap that knows how to match the flow
Rapper*
Unfortunately "Mumble Rap" isn't going anywhere. It started in 2011-2012 and its almost 2020 in a couple of years. You fail to realize that Hip-Hop is still a "Young Mans Sport". It's reflective of the youth & generation. No matter how degenerative or dysfunctional it is. Many of the new wave of rapper cite these rappers as their influence:
1)Chief Keef (Keep in mind he's still only 21-22)
2)Gucci Mane
3)Lil' B
4)Lil' Wayne
5)Waka Flocka Flame
Note: Honorable Mention - Soulja Boy
Now take the names I mentioned.
No future been doing it for almost a decade

This was a phenomenal interview with one of the best MC’s of all time without a doubt. I just wish that Vinnie was a little less humble and that Joe delved deeper into the seriousness of his lyrics and extracted some insight on the super raw and undeniably violent shit that he spits. Would have been great to get an inside look on where that comes from. I’ve seen Paz perform in person twice and I’m not exaggerating when I say that this mans presence changes the temperature of the room... dude is no joke
I agree. This interview was way too tame. Vinny seemed to have humbled himself for what ever reason. It came across as though he reserved himself.

Vinnie paz is awesome
I honestly dont care for Mumble Rap, I like rap with lyrics and bars that make me go OH DAMN that was fire like Old Tupac and Biggie Smalls, and honestly if they are mumble rapping over a good beat I always just look up an instrumental of that beat cause the mumbling takes away from the track to me tbh.
Yeah, a good rap beat stands alone. Words can often ruin it if the person isn't talented enough to work with the beat.
It used to be poetry. Then it was a battle, east vs west. Then it was getting played on Pop radio for recogination, and now its social media
@oddun absolutely, I'm God is an incredible instrumental. With the MC it's unlistenable.

So fucking true
They both suck....... wtf you talking about wank stain
Some people put that trap mumble rap bullshit at a party I had at my place and I kicked them out lol I didn’t know them either 😂
What about the radio and tv stations that play it? Kids will buy garbage as long as its in a cool package. These 'artists' are too young and high to make good descions. The managers and promoters are the ones behind mumble rap. There's still good stuff out there, it just doesn't get promoted.
THANK YOU YO !!
Nick Coltrane amen
Anthony Salerno he’s fucking right though.
Milly vinilly or someshit
@Anthony Salerno Sorry my friend, but you are lauding ignorance.
Not like this, bro.
I've been a fan of Vin Paz for a very long time and he ALWAYS HARD,AND ALWAYS REAL

Mumble rap is what Swedes call Danish rap.
Talking while repeatedly a getting broom rammed up your ass is what Danes call Swedish. I've heard about a new trend in Sweden where you would have immigrants doing it to you 😘
Degofhas lol someone took the bait
Degofhas what? If someone could take 10 seconds to compare Swedish and Danish, you would be able to hear the alphabet in Swedish words.
Meanwhile, Danish, sounds literally like someone has a BBC down their throat. You can never sort out the words. Its like talking whilst being strangled.
Danes, the littlebrothers. Also funny when they dont think they have a MAJOR problem with immigrants. So bad they banned the burqa. Not that I care about the burqa.
Nä det gör vi inte. Sluta ljug.

Vinnie is crazy insightful. Love the knowledge
Rakim basically made the 18th letter in the image of new school style and crushed it. He got it. The 90s were still considered the golden era. I WOULD DARE SAY THAT Rakim would listen to Ludacris and Nelly. This mumble rap shit is on another level of stupid.
Wild American west side is de best
Luda was a great rapper who had lyrics but he had a lot of party anthems so people lump him with the rapper who dont care about the craft. Nelly wasnt a great lyricist & didnt have skill as an MC at all but his melodies were really good & he crafted great songs that had structure in it even though he was nothing more than a pop rapper, Hot in Here & Coutry Grammy are more organic records that have structure in it compared to a repetitive Gucci Gang song like Lil Pump that sounds obnoxious
Respect but I can't see Rakim listening to Nelly. If I'm wrong then I don't wanna be right. Lol

Its drug, bar and strip club culture. Mixed with inebriation of both the creator and listener of the music.
I almost wrote something similar, but you said it best. Mac Miller started mumbling compared to his early days.
Oh wait, you mean it's dog shit, mixed with some curry diarrhea, on top of some more dog shit ? Yeah, that sound slike mumble crap, oh I mean rap.....
Just sucks. There are some new songs I'll catch myself liking, but vast majority of music nowadays is fkn boring or just bad.
So in other word's........it's dog shit???
chiefn don’t listen to dumbass’s. Congrats on sobriety!
Nailed it.
Skrooge Lantay Except gangsta rap still exists, and no ones bitching about it. Mumble bs is a plague.
Skrooge Lantay
Ok, but here's something you miss, something happening currently isn't necessarily the new paradigm, it's just a trend.
Vinnie Paz and R.A The Rugged Man. are both SUPER underrated artists and human beings.
LOL! What a great line!
