  • I revisited a location the day after getting loads of footage, but wanted just that one more orbit shot. I was barely 20 seconds up in the air and started the orbit when I noticed someone had placed a tree where they shouldn't. I was in the slowest mode possible and tried to react, but I ended up doing my "playstation controller panic mode" routine and crashed into the tree. It was somewhere amongst 3 close trees within a moat full of thorn bushes and 30ft up. I shook all the trees and watched the screen to see when it moved, had the lights flashing and beeping activated but still couldn't see it. I climbed 20ft up the middle one of the 3 trees and eventually saw it in the next one. I shook the other tree like a madman whilst trying to hold on for my dear life, and as luck would have it, it fell down about 10ft to where I could just grab it. I then realised I was still 20ft up, a drone stuffed in my jacket pocket and a controller around my neck and feeling all of my 57 years of age. Made it down safely, hands covered in blood, bruised wrist and elbow, but I saved my drone. Only damage seems to be a small nick on one rotor blade. Did a short test flight and everything seemed ok, but will give it a good going over and re-calibrate everything. PLEASE don't do what I did and go climbing dodgy trees unless you are a monkey. I GOT LUCKY.

    Sorry to hear about the crash, but you turned it into a great story... I once crashed in the tree ~30 feet high and had to call a professional climber to get it down...

      I have become more nervous when flying near trees and birds, but back in the saddle and pushing the limits to get the dramatic footage. Working on about 5 different projects at the moment so should have another ready for uploading v.soon.

      Thanks. It was one of the basic mistakes most drone flyers make, but don't post on social media out of embarrassment/pride. I don't mind showing this as it shows others that despite all the amazing things dones are capable of, there is still a human input, and none of us are perfect. It has knocked my confidence a bit, but, like falling of a bike, you dust yourself down and get back on. I'm cut, battered and bruised this morning, but it's a lesson learnt. Onwards and upwards 🙂

    Sack your controller for not seeing that huge tree 😂

      It was my fault, obstacle avoidance is only up/down front/back. You learn from your mistakes, and believe me, I have learnt.

    D. C. You we’re going sideways no sensors on the sides and it look like you need a calibration just saying 😮. Better flight next time 👍😊 I really appreciate to watch it your montage 👍 so let’s keep on droning safely always Brother Cheers 🍺🍺😎✌️

    I loved it! It had everything needed in a good thriller type short movie, especially the music. The plot was fantastic, yet, the only thing missing was some some evil bird or animal in the tree attacking the protagonist. 🧐 Oh wait, there was some evil in the plot, it was that evil tree that suddenly grew right up into the path of that poor little itty bitty drone going sideways. 😱 Such Horrors, with music twinkling away it’s montage in the background!
    NEWS FLASH UPDATE It has come to the attention of this news reporter, after some drone CPR and healing magic, the poor little itty bitty drone has been rushed to the Royal Drone and Recovery Hospital at the owners estate . The poor thing is recovering well, but has now developed a fear of trees and swampy areas. Stay tuned as this news reporter will get updates, and for those concerned, you can send flowers 💐 and get well ❤️‍🩹 cards 🎴 to Itty Bitty (who knew that is it’s name) White.
    Thank You

    This is exactly the situation I fear and why I carry a chainsaw with me when I fly.

      @@dronezone-media indeed it does. I crashed my Mini 2 and the Pole won lol. My Air 2s had some close calls, but i try to learn after each flight. Great videos by the way

    Thank-you. Do the LUTS work in Adobe After Effects?

    • @dronezone-media
      @dronezone-media  Рік тому

      I used the Movavi editor for this, and have since started using the PC version of Capcut. Capcut is free and pretty amazing, although I still use Movavi for the things Capcut doesn't have. I think most of the LUTS I use could be used with Adobe though.

    I know the feeling. My crash was into a cliff. Another sideways manoeuvre. Luckily I could retrieve the drone by climbing. I'm 56 btw. The drone was sent back to DJI for repairs. This is the link of the crash ua-cam.com/video/PJDudLudiCg/v-deo.html

      I love the Looney toons ending. That just about sums me up 🤣 Fingers crossed I've got away with any terminal damage and just need to change a rotor blade.

      @@dronezone-media It's good you have a sense of humour. A lot of folk feel ashamed and feel inferior. Most of these UA-cam drone masters have all crashed at one time or another. It's a learning curve.

      @@mickeytheviewmoo It will probably turn out to be my most viewed video🤣 People like to see others fail. When I fail, I like to do it in style. Go big, or go home🤣🤣
