    I have a 2014 ram would I need to program the truck after installing a new compressor?

      @DormanProducts  8 місяців тому

      Hi Alex, it wouldn't need programming however, to properly fill and calibrate the system it would requires a scan tool as part of the job.

    I wonder if you guys have a heated enclosures for the oem compressor. Thats the major fail in canadien climate. I do see the benefit from aimply sheilding the compressor from the elements though.

    How are they in cold climates? The main problem with my ram is the compressor stops working in the cold

    • @wes8398
      @wes8398 Рік тому

      The issue in cold climates isn't the compressor. It's leaks. Leaks cause the compressor to draw in ambient air, which contains a lot of moisture... which creates condensation. If your air suspension is failing in the cold weather, it's almost a sure thing that you have a leak. Likely in one or more of your air springs (bags).

      @@wes8398 nope they pressure tested my system replaced bags and still have same problem

      @@byronbrodeur3341 Cold weather (prolonged -20 Celsius and colder) doesn't affect mine. As I said, it's almost surely a leak which is causing the system to take in outside air, which contains moisture, which wreaks havoc on the whole system. Most dealers don't take the time to test for leaks properly and completely. If your air springs are all new, then I'd be checking all the fittings and lines. The situation I just described with moisture in the system may have happened in the past and caused damage you're not aware of now... split lines, bad connections, etc.

      Most dealers are too stupid to understand this system. I went to the closest dealer and they told me when it's cold it just happens. Then in summer time they told me the truck is supposed to go to the ground if you don't drive it every day. I told them at that point that it was stupid logic. No leaks means truck should stay relative to where it was when it was shut down. Then went to q big city dealer and they kept the truck for 2 days. They took measurements on all 4 corners and they ended up replacing 3 of the air bags and refilled the system was good for almost a year. I bet it's the one shock they didn't replace and probably by now the compressor. The system should just not be allowed to use outside air. When there's a leak then there would be no ducking around!!!

    The Dorman air compressors are crap! Worse than OEM. Purchased 1 for my 2014 ram in Feb of 2023 and it’s now dec of 2023 and I’m on my 3rd compressor! The ONLY thing good about them is the lifetime warranty, which Is also a bad thing because they will not refund my money because it’s got a warranty even though all 3 compressors have leaked within 24hrs of installing! Every one of them has leaked where the top of the piston compresses the nitrogen at the top of the pump where the heatsink cover is.

      Hello, can you please tell us the Dorman part # and the year, make and model vehicle you are installing it on?

      Yea, I bought the Dorman 949-356 for a 2014 ram 1500 sport. I contacted the dealer/distributor I got it from about refunding and returning it after the 2nd one started leaking immediately and was told all they can do is warranty it and replace it.

      @@myshooter44did you get any favorable results? I'm under warranty with ram, but was thinking of maybe getting the enclosure for now? Although I seen a guy just wrap a battery heater over his compressor and says now he doesn't have any issues. Just plugs it in over night on cold nights.

    This is great, but I don't have the dealership scan tool to perform the air mass calculation function once everything is reinstalled and ready to recharge the system. All I have is the AlfaOBD software, which does allow me some control of the air suspension system, but not air mass calc. Any suggestions?

      Hello, great question! Unfortunately you will need the OE style scan tool to do the learn process to proceed.
