I am totally addicted to this song. Lately I've had to listen to it 4 or 5 times a day, Everyday! I've always loved Dave. He's one of my top 5 guitarists.
Love this man since CREAM I saw him perform in Wash. DC way back in the 70's. I remember his tour bus had "Lillian" written across it I was so love struck by his performance and buzzed from mixed drinks - I told the security guard standing by the tour bus that I was the driver and I needed to get going! I asked the security guy to see what was taking Dave so long. He left to deliver my message and within 15 minutes or so. Dave met me eye to eye! I begged him to take me with him but my boyfriend stopped me from going any further so I begged Dave for a kiss and he gave me one! I still love him and follow him hiss music and his performances! What I wouldn' do for another kiss from Dave again!!!❤ Ingrid
Love your story! I saw him at a small venue in Annapolis in 2008/9?. Headed back to the hotel and ran into Dave and the band at the hotel's outdoor bar. Sat around for about 2 hours listening to him tell stories; there were only about 8 or 10 of us there. A magical night, for sure. I'd seen him back in the 70's in a much bigger venue; he's absolutely aged like fine wine. He'll always be at the top of my favorites list.
@@jillmailme9814Love your story! Saw Dave 3 wks ago on his "Traffic Jam" tour..STILL has that same beautiful baritone voice & puts on a great show. Have love him also from the beginning ! ❤
I was fortunate enough to have seen Dave Mason back in the 70's. This gentleman sounds as good all these decades later as he did when I saw him. He is one of the few artists who sounds as good, if not better than he did. He performed this song beautifully. His music always takes me back to my teenage years and I tend to forget that as I age, so does he. All the music that holds my most cherished memories are by those who won't be around a great deal longer and that is a truly sad thought and it's a shame for the younger people who will probably never hear the legendary artists of my generation because it is them who will keep this music alive long after my generation is gone. But one can hope.
+MissDistarr That is a GREAT sentiment, and, actually sounds like a great line or 2 from a great song, "All the music that holds my most cherished memories...." :O)
MissDistarr my goodness talk about hitting the nail on the head. So so true and sad, but always remember we lived it and the youth of today will never understand.
@@dansummers1175 1978 for me when he was touring to promote Mariposa De Oro. Dave and his amazing band came to Manhattan College (NYC) and blew us all away! I remember him playing from on top of a grand piano and huge speakers. We were all a helluva lot younger! Some friends and I went out to Long Island to see Dave again that weekend in front of 30,000 fans at Belmont Park. That started a life-long hobby of seeing Dave in concert whenever I could. I stopped counting at 50 concerts. Great music, great people, great times!
I wish I would of thought to wrote in these comments before now, especially when I recall these well inspired songwriters who I felt were really trying to put out for their listeners, many good wise messages and deeper relative lines to pass on to hopefully help in these times of our searching for what everyone cries out to see- a much better change in this troubling world we live in. I wrote in the public comment, some true gift of many blessing on the Dave Mason song " The Lonely One" that he did with Stevie Wonder and Leon Russell, which I share a real True Spiritual enlightenment . My husband did for me as well. We saw this exact line up my first time. Dave came out and I thought he was a roadie :) We saw him several more times and he played this song (written by Jim Capaldi and finished by Dave). My husband passed away a year ago and now when I hear this song, my heart 💔
He keeps getting better and better everyday. Mason is a complete artist: songwriter as few, great guitar player, great singer, great lyrics...That's Dave. We all enjoy.
Have to admit I always liked Dave Mason, but, until tonight I had never heard this song before. I heard it on Quasar Radio from the UK and wondered who it was and googled it and found out it was Dave Mason. What a great song. The other thing I am wondering is how the four people turned thumps down!
9-20-15 saw Dave at Penns Peak, Jim Thorpe Pa He TORE THE HOUSE DOWN!!! He was great, very personal, spoke to us as our long lost friend!!! Always loved Dave, Bless you Dave Mason!!!

Dave Mason is one of the finest lyric writers of our time. As a musician/drummer starting out with Wicked Lester/KISS in the early 1970's at Electric Lady Studios, NYC, I've always been inspired by Dave's music from his beginning artistry. This track is so in the pocket, with great lyrics, feel & perfect bridge section. Love it! .....How Do I get To Heaven....Take Me back to Where the Road Begins....
The way to heaven is in front of us each time we listen to wanderfull music, we love, we breathe the breeze,we care about an animal, we protest about the voiceless, the weak, we contribute to the preservation of the wildlife, the planet, the wellfare of anything living and moving in this earth, then, we follow the way to heaven.

How do I get to Heaven ? John 3:16 :For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I believe the preformer intended the lyrics to be rhetorical while expressing emotions of the human experience, with all its wonders, love, doubts, faith, temporally misplacing his faith. The whole spectrum of human emotions, much like Jesus did, on earth, in human form.
