When I was a kid, I had a Furby that wouldn't shut up, no matter what my family and I tried. My brother eventually grabbed a hammer, thinking that if he whacked it, it might shut off. It didn't. It only made horrifying, garbled noises reflective of the head injury it had just received. So my brother continued to strike it with the hammer until it eventually went silent. And all of its fur came off, revealing its terrifying robot skeleton. Truly traumatic.

this probably has to do with the time theory related to comedy, as in there's a certain amount of time that needs to pass before it's socially acceptable to joke about something (e.g. it wasn't okay to joke about AIDS at the height of the crisis; it's still frowned upon to joke about cancer today)
I- well… see it kinda depends on the context and wording as well as timing of said joke… because if you don’t perfect that, you’ll definitely cause more damage than good.

as someone who has furbies, and has HEAVILY considered long-ifying one or two, most people do gut their furbies, but you do get the odd one or two with the electricals still intact. Those people can do something as simple as extending the wires, though I do vaguely remember one guy who put in an entire sensory system, so the furby would respond to being pet anywhere instead of just between the ears.

Hey! As an active member of the furby community, I would like to advocate for the use of 3D printed faceplates you can buy on Etsy when building long bois!
The reason for this is that furbys are limited in supply overall, there are many, but if you make too many long boys, there will be a signficant storage. Not to mention, removing faceplates can be difficult and whatever furby you buy will be unsalvageable afterwards, and trying to match fabric is basically impossible. Be ethical when creating long furbys, try to buy spines from local craftstores, doll armature looks great. The benefit to all of this is that you can use whatever type of fabric you want and it's guaranteed to match.

As someone who has weighed heavily on making oddbody furbies, the faces can actually be 3D printed in a lot of instances and the mechanics if you want a mechanical one are actually pretty simple. It’s a pretty big subculture and people DO just replace other stuffed animal faces with furbie faces.
I’m still not convinced that I shouldn’t make them, SO if you or someone you know may be interested in wearing knee high socks with furbie face knees or furbie faces chokers and etc, motivate me so I will actually make them lol.

I made one. It's longer than any of the others I've seen, clocking in at around 15ft. I have it posed like a cobra in my living room and some people actually scream when they see it. It's cute, it's got horns. 😆
