- Beer battered Fish done on the Coleman Camp Stove
Here’s an easy beer batter recipe that will make anything taste fantastic.
Ingredients
1.5 cups white flour
1 egg
1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper
1/2 tablespoon Old Bay seasoning
Cracked black pepper to taste
1 good full-bodied beer
10-inch cast iron skillet
Enough vegetable oil to cover the bottom by 1 1/2 inches.
Directions
Mix the egg, flour, cayenne pepper, Old Bay, and black pepper in a good sized mixing bowl
Now add about 3/4 of the beer and mix well.
You may need to add more beer, you are looking for a pancake mix consistency.
Heat the oil in the skillet to about 350 degrees F
Dredge your fish through the batter getting a light coating on the fish
Slowly add the fish to the skillet making sure to put it in away from you.
Let it cook for about 3 to 5 minutes depending on the thickness of the fish.
Flip the fish and cook another 3 to five minutes or until the batter is golden brown.
Remove from the oil and let drain on a drying rack with paper towels under it.
Add just a pinch of salt to taste. I never do I don’t think it needs any.
Serve hot.
