I suffer with PHN from a recent bout (6 months ago). My shingles were located on my C5, and my PHN is associated with that nerve root, causing severe pain that mimics radiculopathy. I am 60 years old, in good health and good physical shape for my age. Im very active, and the comments about coping are the most helpful thing I have heard yet. I was on gabapentin for a bit, but took myself off, as I do not care for any drugs or foreign chemicals in my body. Keeping a good attitude and toughing it out is pretty much my standard regimen for self treatment. Heat (hot shower) works well to distract my confused nerves, and well as massage. It sucks, but I see others with worse health issues than my own, so i am thankful that my condition seems to be improving. Im leaning back into water skiing and harder physical activity as the pain is managed. It appears we are a big club folks. Pray for each other and stay tough through it.

The description beginning at 3:00 is EXACTLY the nightmare that I live EVERYDAY! I understand why the suicide rate is so high with this condition. It seems that the majority of the medical field dont understand the pain that comes with this condition as well as shingles. I am 44 and spend every night writing in pain as if I have RLS, covered in bruises from beating myself in the back with anything I can find to make the sensation go away. Scalding hot tub baths, a tens machine on a high level around the clock, lidocaine patches, muscle rub cream, a heating pad (without an auto turn off ) under a tight fitted shirt to keep it against my skin..... anything to MAKE IT GO AWAY..... friends and family feel seem mad and bitter to have to deal with it.... MAYBE an hour of sleep per night. It is unimaginable pain... to which my PCP acts as if it is a minor ailment. I get shingles every month and have had 3 patches develop in the last week and a half. I really wish there were relief for those life me who are struggling with suffering and on the brink of it being too much.

The pain is described as excruciating. They get that word from Crucifixion, and now I see why. It is like someone taking a blow torch to the back and sides of my neck.

I’m dealing with a bad case of PHN. So painful it drops me to the floor. Currently taking Gabapentin. Having very hot and painful eruptions in on my head where the shingles were and around my eye. Seems like it’s not getting better

Doesn't it what. It is like someone has a blow torch to my skin with the outbreaks of the attacks. They last for a bout 3 minutes when they hit. On the floor or walking around the house with my arms at the back of my head where in hits, in the neck region. People laugh at me. I wouldn't even wish it on them.

Over 8 years of PHN. I take Gabapentin (1800mg/day) but not sure how much it helps.

What’s all this about a very specific type of home remedy to make shingles go away within a week or less.? I don’t know but what made sense to me, was Kaena Ramingler’s guide which I mentioned a few weeks back, you can go’ogle her to see if you can also get rid of them in a week or so..

Being zoster free is the main goal isn’t it? That and doing it within a few days, NOT wasting months or even years on it. Even though we all know magical pills don’t exist, there are certain methods, like Kaena Ramingler’s approach that make a huge difference in just 3 days. (maybe 5 if you stretch it a bit though)

I am 26 years old and I had shingles about 3 months ago. I would have 1sec-10sec nerve pain episodes, but at that time it would come and go randomly.
However, fast forward about 3 months later; I am in terrifying nerve pain starting from my neck to my upper center back (I think it’s my spinal cord). Also, side note: I have been having a stiff neck so I visited the chiropractor 3x in one week. The following week after a good stretch I WAS NOT ABLE TO MOVE 😭 I felt paralyzed!! So as I’m writing this my neck and upper back is on horrible pain!! Like I’m soooo young I shouldn’t be going through this 😰😢🥺
