For those who don't know, Brad is an amazing musician and all the music in the videos is original. Love it
Is Brad on youtube with his music? It is really cool!
@@paulmeunier1574 I'm not sure. Maybe scroll through his videos as I seem to remember he did one from his home studio.
I was going to ask who produced the music...thanks for letting us know. I'd buy a CD.
😮😀
Does he make cds?
In a bizarre twist of fate, my boss now lives in the farmhouse where I grew up in the 60s and 70s and where my family farmed for generations. He keeps digging up all manner of things that take me back to my childhood and of which ive totally forgotten about. . Last thing was a painted pebble. The paint, probably lead based, was as fresh as it was 50 years ago. He's yet to find the old washer and cooker my grandpa buried in the field. And I'm not telling.
Has your boss offered to give you any of the items? It wouldn't it be great if he found something special to your family and gave it to you.
@@kayakbassman he's shown me several photos of stuff he's dug up. Not sure I want them back. There was a reason we buried them in the first instance. If he found anything valuable he for sure would.
Frankly, that would irritate me.
Steve's comment is correct, but it's usually possums, racoons, and ground hogs that chew on civil war bullets. The reason is the salt content. Most ground hogs die from eating too many small salted gravel left from winter road work than old age. Bite the bullet is actually from the Revolutionary War when muskets were first used. To load faster soldiers would bite the paper top tied with string, pour the powder, and ram the ball. There was chloroform and a stick wrapped in cloth used for pain during amputation. Another great video Brad, thanks for sharing.
Great fun Brad, might be worth looking anywhere in Vermont. Do Eddies home sight next. Just a thought. Petrified bananas!?
This episode was brought to you by the letter E... I only started detecting in the last few years, I can’t wait to go back to my family home and see what treasures I can find around my old stomping grounds! Great work Brad, cheers from Australia mate 🍻
Fantastic finds Brad! Sadly the woods where I played as a boy is a subdivision is now $350K and up homes. But worse the home i grew up in was smack in the middle of a Park that was started in the 1850's. I delivered newspapers seeing the remnants of paths, small bridges and other signs of playgrounds and gazebos! I wanted a metal detector in 1955!
That US seated Half Dime is in superb condition,it’s extra special being minted in the New Orleans mint.
Hello from the UK . Great finds , amazing little half dime I have found one of those just outside of Liverpool England from 1859 !!!
If anyone ever metal detects the property I grew up on until age 19 through the 60’s-70’s in N. Illinois, they’ll be confused by all of the Swedish coins they’ll find. I lost a big bag of them slowly all over the place. This is a great channel. The presentation and content very well done.
And what is the address of this location? Asking for a friend.
Ut is isn't it brad is humble man he kills it
Thanks Brad, I'm living the adventure through you... And what an adventure, who doesn't love a treasure hunt :)
Jajajaja!! Brad mi amigo now you have 20 centavos!! I'm from South Texas and I come across those every once in awhile in this brush country that surrounds Corpus Christi, Tx. It does look old and heavy when you are looking at it. Million dollar question is, what is it doing there?? Unbelievable! Good luck hunting and take care out there Brad
Brad. You're a big inspiration to me. Went out detecting for the first time recently relic hunting and found a 1941 silver dime!! Part of a small spill of it and some 1940s Wheaties. Anyways thanks for doing what you do and being an inspiration!
Oh yea what a feeling!
Now your hooked! Hobby of a lifetime
@@Ryan-zz2pj the really messed up part is I was only swinging my machine for maybe 10 mins. Just like you say.....addicted lol 😆
Guns, Gold, and Greenery, WELCOME to the hobby. Have fun and enjoy!!!
Is that flthunder fla cracker
I've been enjoying your channel for 5 yrs now. You never fail to disappoint with your finds. You're part of my Friday routine.
Edit: I find my oops to be too funny to change. Honestly I'm almost crying laughing so hard.
So it's supposed to be 'appreciate your finds'. 😂😂
That 1839 half dime is a great find. I found a 1876 seated dime last week , here in Kansas.
Thank you Mr. Martin, Brad.
God bless you and yours.
Excellent day out in your old natural playground 😃
Ten year old you would be thrilled at your finds. Loved todays video.
Perhaps the mystery item is off an old umbrella. That's what it reminds me of! Great day on old stomping grounds!❤
Without reading all the comments, that IS a civil war bullet. There were over 1000 varieties. Ive dug thousands in my career. And without seeing the E up close, it could be from the civil war as well. Great finds!
Love the live dig to find the 1939 silver coin!
Nice finds I’m here in Ct river detecting near my home and we absolutely killed it with 1899 barber half 1906 quarter two SLQs A v nickel a Buffalo silver dimes Washington just a bunch of old coins probably some gold also it was a 3 hour hunt like the old days finding silver in a untouched spot!!!
Are you related to the Kus family from Old Lyme. I used to love going to the river to metal detect.
Morning Brad, I had never heard of a half dime and I had to Google it. I learned some interesting history. How wonderful for you to find something special in your boyhood stomping grounds. Thanks for sharing your video. It was fun to learn something new. Many blessings!
Thank you for sharing this video I enjoyed it I liked all the awesome finds that you found in the beautiful deer walking in the woods 👍👍👍👍🗝️
Too much fun! Thanks for taking us along.
Brad that's a nice mixed bag of finds!! I hope you do a return trip. Half dime is a beautiful example!
Your channel is a inspiration to me and shows that you never really know what's going to Pop out of the ground. World's greatest hobby, I must go digging now!! Thanks for all you do!!!!
Woooow congrats to the Half Dime. Love it, beautiful Coin
Great vid, as usual, your camera work is amazing! Your "annoying" bird is a Broad wing hawk. The usually vocalize around their nesting area.
What a memorable trip! Wow!💯
So awesome u found your 1st half dime ! I also found one this year a 1833. Plus a Spanish Reale with it. The half dime is in great shape. The Reale no so much. Found them in Connecticut. That is what makes this hobby great u just don’t know what u will find ! 🐆
Brad, as I understand it, "biting the bullet" was what you did during medical proceedures without anesthesia. That half dime is awesome.
Amazing finds! Wonder about the story of that Mexican coin. Young you left all these treasures for adult you to find! Congratulations on the half dime! Who knew that was a thing? I had to look it up! Love that little horse toy.
Every Friday, love the intro tunes!
My brother-in-law found a gold coin while detecting under an old slave quarters house in south Louisiana near Baton Rouge. It was in mint condition and had Napoleon Bonaparte’s picture on it. It was beautiful.
That E was everything I ever expected you to find in your endeavors to metal detect enough ground to excavate that E. Everyone is extremely exited!
I see what you did there
The Half Dime is a New Orleans minted coin with the 'O' under the word 'Dime'. All the way from N'orleans to Vermont.
I noticed the New Orleans mint mark, too and was going to let Brad know, but you already did it! Good eye!
Nice relics & congrats on the half dime. 2 silver coins 100 years apart crazy. Mexico coin was strange to find.
Great video Brad, Congrats finding the silver quarter and that awesome 1839 half dime
That 1839 Half Dime is drop dead gorgeous. What a beautiful coin. Well done Brad.
That was an awesome find! I have an 1840 in excellent condition, but that one looks very nice as well.
Could the piece with a hole in it be an umbrella slide? Unbelievable find with the half dime. Also the E I dont think came from a John Deere tractor because most of them were painted and didn't have letters like that. Maybe long ago there was a small house near there and could possibly have more things to find! Happy you found some cool things today. Love your videos Brad.
Wow! remarkable! Just think how many times as a 10 yr old that you may have played on or walked right by those coins! Great finds! Enjoy your time home!!👍😘🏠
Nice finds.
Awesome job with the silvers!!! How exciting
When i was a kid, we moved to a new home and the first thing my brother and i did was go exploring in the woods. We explored the woods everyday and we found a cave next to a creek. It was really cool, it had a hole next to a tree that we could crawl thru and get inside. When you got inside it was wide open on one side and a creek ran along the edge. It was on the side of a huge hill and it was really hard to get to the big opening and much easier to just go thru the opening up top next to the tree. It was our spot until we moved a few years later amd my brother and i still talk about it now. I tried going back to that spot and i couldnt find it at all not even the creek. One day im gonna take my brother with me and find it again. We carved our names in the wall and probably left some camping gear behind. Super cool video, it just reminded me of somw of the cool spots my brother and i would find in the woods when we would walk all day ling exploring.
Awesome Finds! Thanks for making your videos!
Great video congratulations on your silver coins
The bird you're hearing around 6 minutes in was a hawk of some type
I grew up in a small town in Ct. on the sound and ct. river. I lived in the woods like you probably did. I love these finds in your old childhood haunts. I once buried a sack of coins in my yard under a slate walkway. Maybe someday, somebody might find it in the future
as always Brad. Another great vid.
Love this channel!!! So amazing!
Yet another great start to a Friday, my coffee and a video from GMMD. This was so inspiring I am going to break out my metal detector this weekend and just search the woods behind my house. Like you I expect to not find anything but trash but why not look anyway.
Let us know please!
That 1960’s coin is cool, the year I was born…..and yes it’s old lol
awesome find on the half dime ! great day in the woods !
Best way to unwind from the work week. Thanks Brad!
How very cool that you've uncovered things from your old boyhood stomping grounds. You know you gotta go back again, amiright? Thanks for the vids.
Brad thanks for doing the videos I really enjoy them and look forward to each Friday to see a new one. You inspire me to metal detect.
Buy one yourself!
Congrats on your first half dime, it's hard to believe that it's your first. I have found 9 in 2 years. Capped bust and seated. Great video, always look forward to them.
You must be in the NE also them ☺️
I'm in Texas and haven't found one yet 😕
@@kayesdigginit1519 I'm in the Midwest. Illinois and Missouri.
What do "capped bust" and "seated" mean?
@@beckyschmidt4025 capped bust half dime or dime, etc. It's easier to Google a seated liberty half dime or seated liberty dime, capped bust half dime or capped bust dime. There are all denominations, half dime, dime, quarter, half dollar and dollar silver coins.
I've only found one seated HD myself out of decades of detecting. Grats on that.
Congrats on the seated half dime!
39s 100 years apart. That is amazing. I think I might go buy a lottery ticket. Fun hunt. Thanks for sharing!!!
Wow! What treasures you found. Pretty cool you were on your old stomping grounds. I was able to salvage items in my childhood home getting ready for burning. We incorporated the treasure into part of my last home a half dozen decades later. Very sentimental things combined in our old home renovation. It’s such a blessing!
Congrats on the half dime. Unbelievable condition, glad to see it found and saved. You’re the best man!
You're not your.
@@sandgrownun66 thanks for correcting me.
Congratulations Brad very fun hunt and many nice finds . Ty for sharing
Wow, that half dime is fantastic. And yes, some things wind up in the woods and you can't imagine how. So fun to find things so close to home.
Thanks, that was fun. ✌🏻👊
Cool finds. Tells a story about a family. The buttons for the lady who haf at least one child and a husband with a horse. Nice.
That bullet is a Minnie ball for civil war rifle. Amunition came in premade paper cartridges with the bullet and the powder in the cartridge. The rifleman would bite off the bullet end of the cartridge, hold the bullet in his mouth, dump the powder down the barrel, shove the paper down the barrel to seal the c powder in, and ram the bullet down the barrel with the slightly hollow end down. When the rifle was fired the gas would cause the base of the bullet to expand just enough to seat in the rifle groves. Bite the bullet comes from when someone had to have surgery is the days before anesthesia. They needed to bite down on something soft to keep from breaking their teeth because of the pain.
Brad, your videos are most enjoyable to watch!! No hype at the dig sites, just even voiced commentary. And I also like the forest cut always between segments. Please keep up the great work!!!
Great finds Brad, you’ll definitely have to make a return trip to that spot 👍👍🍻
Brad Congratulations on all your great finds. Hope your next adventure is as good…..I really enjoyed this video….
Brad, great video and how fun for you to get back to the "playground" of your youth! I often detect in the woods I played in as a child as well and often wonder how many treasures were underfoot back then. Almost feels like traveling back in time when detecting there now. Jim Parry
My son Max, found a small lead toy car. It is a 1918 Pierce Arrow limousine ; BUT it has a tank turret at the back . So it's a re purposed lead toy for WWI .
I've been watching your channel for several years now. I find it very relaxing and stress free. Can you do a video or two on what you do with all the stuff you find?
I wonder how many times 10 year old Brad walked by that US coin.
Fantastic hunt! Love that toy!
Will Brad it's great to go back to your roots great awesome history and fines 👍🛐stay blessed
He said "consider subscribing" instead of begging for it and got an instant subscription, take notes people!!
Nice finds and another top quality video. Great job! Makes me sad to see the places where I grew up 50 years and more ago. Woods cut or cleared. Things change unfortunately.
Reminded me of growing up playing "in the hills" behind our house and neighborhood. Our big "box canyon" is now a Cul du Sac.
Great find on that half dime! Judging from the coin's condition it was dropped not long after 1839!
The draw pull is a good guess , we have very similar on our 19c Welsh dresser that is passed from owner to owner of our 18c farmhouse in west Wales. Just bought my first detector for finding metal in my sawmill timber butfinding more uses than I imagined.
That ring object looks like a retainer cap for the pommel of an ornate serving fork, carving knife, or something of the sort. Perhaps with a wooden or antler handle. The tang of the blade would go through the handle, the cap would adorn the bottom of the handle, and there would be a small threaded or cross pinned end cap to hold it all together.
The round silver-plated item you found looks to me like an umbrella slide. But Brad, I would love to find a half dime! Omg! Congrats on the silver too!
Hey Brad! Love your channel. Watch all the time you taught me so much. Went for my first search yesturday. Found a bunch of bottle caps 2018 quarter 1969 dime and nickle 2 Lincolns a BB and a little Fox pin. I thought of you every step. Thank you! Keep um coming!
Very nice and right in your back yard !!!
We didn’t find our “carvings” on a tree outside like you did , but we returned (my sister and I) to a home we lived in in the late 50s and were invited in by the current owner. Oddly enough, the basement had not been finished and our family “growing post” was still there, exposed and undisturbed showing the heights and names of 5 of the 6 of us kids. It was so cool. I had flashbacks of running around the poles supporting the floor above.
The toy is a mounted knight, there is armour on the horses head.
I love the way you keep the item in the spot where you found it.. makes even more interesting.
Seems to always be when you least expect it. Congrats on the half dime! Ive only found one.
Great finds Brad!
Always great to watch you … I learn a lot. 💕👵🌺
Hey Brad, Awesome finds! Love your videos! TFS Stay safe & ✌
How brilliant that you would find all these things at your childhood home! Congratulations. ❤
Brad,
Ooo,OOOO,OOOOO , Right in your own backyard!!!
Cheers,
Rik Spector
Hi Brad, congratulations on finding your first Half Dime, what an awesome find.
I'm thinking that the filigree ring is probably a woman's Scarf Ring ??.
Thank you for sharing, much love. xx 💖
I think you need to come back here at least 2 more times, Mr. Brad. My favs: the horse, the 100 yrs apart coins, and the white drawer pull. Pretty cool.
I think the silver plated circle was a broach or some jewelry. Middle could be missing.
Fun day and wonderful finds. I was hoping you would find a toy you remember.
Beautiful half dime. Gorgeous. Have found 2 - ‘53 and ‘60 and wish they were as beautiful as yours.
Great job 2 silvers ,Congrats and Thank you for sharing 👍
The horse looks to me to be part of an old merry-go-round toy.
As always I've enjoyed this video! I look forward to seeing your next adventure in hopes you find your best Relics, coin, artifact all the above would be Great! Good luck...
Congratulations Brad on the silver coins especially the 1839 half dime. It was in pristine condition!
