2016 McLaren 675LT - One Take

  • The McLaren 675LT is insanity on wheels. Track focused, racing technology comes to the street in a package that is realistically the fastest road car money can buy for less than a million dollars. 666 twin-turbo HP, a curb weight under 3,000 LBS, and a lightning quick dual-clutch gearbox combine to form a car that is simply as fast as you can think. I'm convinced that even the million-dollar P1 is no faster on a public road than this rolling tribute to performance.

      Sure. But that may just be a dealership model. I don't think actual customer cars are in production yet. Well, at least no customer has taken delivery of their 765LT, to my knowledge. But still, that is a good sign that we will see it very soon. Can't wait for Brooks (Dragtimes) to take delivery of his, so I can see how much performance improvement it delievers over the 720s. How did it look, by the way?

    You can actually just press and hold the left control stalk up to quickly access the lift mode. You can put it up at any speed under 30, so it's not as much of a pain once you get used to timing it out (McLaren 675LT owner here).

    ive been lucky enough to drive a buddy's p1 a bit(really tempted to put up some videos of it on YT, but dont want to get anyone in trouble), and his 12c quite alot before he sold it. When Matt said it warps space and time, he wasnt kidding. Full throttle up a long on ramp is easily double the speed limit. Mclaren builds fantastic cars.

    • @kmuth2102
      @kmuth2102 8 років тому

      +stefndogg Agreed, though the incremental improvements are staggering. I recently test drove both the 12C and the 650 and as someone in the market who drives high-performance cars regularly, I was still astounded at the progress from the 12 to the 650, it's like night and day. It's also amazing how driveable and daily-able these cars are... I daily'd a 997 GT3 and a Gallardo ten years ago and that seemed extreme, these cars are MUCH faster and also more user-friendly, it's really amazing what they've achieved.

    • @Cloxxki
      @Cloxxki 8 років тому +1

      Miramar308 Good point. They could afford a 100 million fine for corporate espionage, why not a PU of their own? Or perhaps the espionage was how they kept up when they did?
      F1 PU's are so freakishly complex that the market is all but closed for newcomers. It's a miracle Honda even committed to joining. If F1 simply had a limited air intake and unlimited tech behind it, it would be much more open.
      Then again, fans are complaining now that it's a such a power dependent rulebook now, when it's just around 1 whole second of laptime between the Mercedes and the Honda, if not less already.

      +TheSmokingTire luckyyyyyy. When I lived in LA for a few years I would occasionally take my stock (aside from supersports and factory sport package) 2002 audi a4 1.8T for a little drive around the canyons. Usually little tujunga. Once got clocked at 60 in a 35 for "reckless driving" and quite a few other times for 45 in a 35. I even got stopped on mulholland for doing 50 in a 35 even though it was pretty obviously marked as 55. I love to drive and the canyons were beautiful but the 7 tickets in 3 years was insane when I never really got to push the car very hard. I just assume the cops just targeted me cause I lived in LA with out of state bright yellow/orange nebraska plates. Count your blessings Matt

    7.52... quick cut and hop! The cars in front of you have miraculously disappeared :)
    There are some cars in One Takes with which you definitely don't want to deal with bullshit like impossibility to pass slow cars on wide open roads with barely no traffic and tons of visibiltiy far ahead haha

    Nice Video, as always. I'm glad, that I can watch nearly watch a Video a day, it usually goes well with dinner. Thank you for your work. Greetings from Germany. This thing would be a Blast in the "Kassel Hills" with a well tarmacked, 3 Lane, Autobahn and huge slopes.

    • @magi1007
      @magi1007 8 років тому

      +magi1007 Speaking of this. I wonder which car would be best in the scenario? : 250 Miles, mostly unrestricted Autobahn, low traffic, go as fast, as you can.
      I guess my Choice would be a Porsche Turbo. Just Because of the 90 Liter Fuel Option. What can People , who actually are privileged to drive this cars can say about Fuel Consumption at high Speeds and other things which may matter at this scenrio?`Concentration for instance?
      My best 'Split' Was 135 km/h average speed, distance was 500km, so 85 mph avg at a distance of ~310 miles. Car was a Mitsubishi Space Star with 118 hp.
      The only compareable car, I drove a lot was a BMW E36 320i Touring with 145 hp and I feld that this would be slower, since I spent most of the Time managing the Fuel in the Mitsubishi, which has a way better mileage, then the BMW.
      So.. your expieriences in long way driving?

    • @j.r.g3548
      @j.r.g3548 8 років тому

      That isn't a good thing, that means its depreciating.

    • @phantom2k10
      @phantom2k10 8 років тому

      John Gruber i said appreciation mate not depreciation.appreciation is the increase of an asset over time smh

    • @j.r.g3548
      @j.r.g3548 8 років тому

      Lol I know what you said I can read, and I said DEpreciation...which is the decreasing value of an asset over time. If you are seeing these for 400k then they are indeed DEpreciating compared to what was expected of 500 unit, limited run vehicle such as the 458 Speciale which has been appreciating a little under 10% every 6 months. sMh

    • @phantom2k10
      @phantom2k10 8 років тому

      John Gruber you're trying to be a smart ass and it's not working smh.how the F are these depreciating when they're going for nearly 150k more than their starting price which is around a quarter of a million?
      if something goes up in value regardless of how small or how long it takes that is APPRECIATION and that's my point.i don't know why you even bothered responding to this comment

    • @j.r.g3548
      @j.r.g3548 8 років тому

      when someone naturally assumes i a. can't read and b. don't understand appreciation vs depreciation I reserve the right to respond however I like. I fully understand what you are saying I just absolutely do not believe that a 675lt has sold for even close to 400k in the UK market. Listings on autotrader don't count people ask WAY over what a reasonable sale price is on there. Find me one that's actually sold for that and not 3rd party internet listings.

  • @Addimotive
    @Addimotive 8 років тому +1

    The body styling of the 675LT is spot on, but personally, I'm more of a fan of the 650s, 12c deeper exhaust growl than the more high pitched sound on the 675 and 570s. Sweet video, looked like tons of fun!

    • @TheSmokingTire
      @TheSmokingTire  8 років тому +1

      Yes, because I described the air conditioner as broken at the end of the video. As it turns out I had the wrong Window sticker for the car and it wasn't equipped with air conditioning at all. I felt it wise to cut that part from the video so as not to complain about a broken feature that didn't exist

      The T-handle engine cover tool is included in the factory tool kit that comes with the car. The fasteners are a quarter turn fastener to unlock it. Very quick and easy.

    • @patrickpelletier6315
      @patrickpelletier6315 6 років тому +1

      tanner1ie to take off the whole clamshell you need a special tool which the dealers have. To just open up the engine bay window you have a carbon fiber tool to twist the fasteners and unlatch it
