Love these videos. Such a beautiful countryside, so nice to see it being enjoyed. What an amazing view to wake up to. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Perfect before bed viewing.
Hi Stripey, brilliant mate, what a spot, absolutely fantastic views. And you did well for it not to rain. Thanks as always for sharing your adventure with us, all the best Dave 😀🥾⛰🏴
Hi Stripey 👋. Something different with the bivvy, nice and simple. I tend to go wild camping in the mountains with a friend, but there’s always some commitment that gets in the way of going with company. I suppose going alone clears your mind and gets you away too. Thanks for sharing Stripey. Serk
Hi Serk 👋, thanks a lot. I think I know exactly what you mean, I had this years ago back in Germany...long story short:If you would like to go out go out and don't wait for others. Of course it is nice when a friend joins in but when not then not, you can still go out and enjoy yourself. The first few trips aren't easy - out of question, but there are also positive things about going alone out: walking in your pace/making breaks when you need one/much easier trip and tour planning...and you learn a lot about yourself. It will get easier with every time you go out to the point where you rather like to go out alone 😉
@@StripeyHatGuy Hi Stripey. So you had it too. I find that I always want to go out more than my friends, so I think your advice is encouraging, and some good advantages to going alone. It’s kind of exciting too hey. Thanks Stripey
Thank you very much Allan! Aye sleeping in a bivvy is just such a difference to a tarp/tent, so much closer to nature. For me the definitely worth the loss of comfort 👍
Was considering to use it in my duomid, same thought by the end of the day. Haven’t used it much yet but so far it is much better in regards to condensation than my military bag (ok that isn’t really difficult 😂). Cheers Stripey
Thank you! yeah I like the boots quite a lot as well and my experience with La Sportiva is really good, wasn't really sure if I should have gotten the leather version but the material looks tough enough to me and the official La Sportive description wasn't really helping either as I see only a little connection between backpack weight and small leather patches 😂
Hey Stripey, good to meet you on the staircase, great chat and wish I could have joined you at the top for a night. Just so you know after we left you the weather was sooo warm in Kinlochleven …. 😂 any way great video again mate 👍 if your ever over our way give us a shout and would join you 💪👍
Hi Gavin 👋, great to meet you guys! Hope your pub dinner was good. Will give you definitely a shout when I am your way - thanks a lot and hopefully see you soon 👍 Thanks Stripey
I feel in love with Scotland just by reading a lot about its history and some novels now i have your videos to watch and im so greatful see all these beautiful places that you shared with us....
Great wee vid again... Love how you go out in just about any weather. Amazing how you got that hill all to yourself in Glencoe.. What do you mean " nameless hill"... Its called Beinn Stripey 😘
Nice night away Stripey, I've seen a few vids of this ridge but still haven't been myself. Good option as really accessible and as you say you leave the crowds behind when you leave the WHW. As long as nobody accidentally follows you.
I love your videos. You have a great plan and just do it! What awesome views of Glencoe and across to the Mamores. I have been on that ridge three times and it never fails to appeal. I think it must be the views and the fact it is so ‘quiet’ re walkers along the way. I can see the appeal of using a bivi with regard to 360 degree views. Choosing a good spot does seem to be important. Really appreciate the effort you put in to making your fab videos. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! Yeah I think as well that it is the fantastic views from up there. A good spot is definitely important I was actually walking around like a headless chicken for ~40 min. until I found a sheltered flat spot with my ‘wished’ views 😂. Thanks for watching, ATB Stripey
Glen Coe🤩🤩🤩! Great video and a fantastic spot for an overnighter.👍 I was up the hill on the other side of the staircase a few weeks ago (Beinn a'Chrùlaiste). Not the most glamorous hill but a fantastic viewpoint of the area.
Hiya, Stripey, great upload as always. Having just done my very first bivvy camp in Snowdonia (see upload 😉), I really enjoyed this. Your Borah Ultralight bivvy has really piqued my interest. I've got a Mountain Equipment Ion Bivvy, but I believe it's only a lower end waterproof rating so I wouldn't want to push it too far! I could do with a bit more leg room too. Anyway, all the very best.
Thanks a lot mate! The borah gear ultralight bivvy isn’t waterproof on the top either but for that I have my duomid. So far I am highly impressed by its performance and space it offers 👍. Can’t wait to use it again!
Hi Stripey, great video as always..... I've had the la sportiva equilibrium for about a year, there great for scrabbling and the grip going downhill is brill, but they eventually leak a bit and I've found they don't fit as well as my other la sportiva boots the same size. It will be interesting to see how you get on.... Cheers Jim. 👌👍
Oh no! Really hope that mine won’t leak as well! My Scarpa Ribelle HD managed only 1 season (~500km) to be waterproof and I really hope/expect the La Sportiva to hold longer 😎🤞. Thanks a lot for sharing your experience - ATB Stripey
@@StripeyHatGuy hi Stripey, mine were a month old and gave out on a very wet boggy hill... But fingers crossed you've more luck. PS... Keep making great videos. 👌👍
Really enjoy watching your videos. And I absolutely share your passion for Scotland, just back from two weeks on Skye and in Assynt. And what a place Glencoe is! Looks like a perfect place for a camp. May I ask you one thing please? Can you tell me which mattress you had with you in this video? The yellow one. Greetings from Germany
👋🏻Stripey! Glad to see you back out, exploring another beautiful hike. I’ll trade the windy colder temperatures for the oven hot temperatures in the US; Colorado is 37 now🥵. That looked like a popular hike, but the overnight spot you selected looked stunning, even with all the wind. Glad it didn’t rain, though your new Bivy sack would have likely endured it well enough. What did you think of your new boots? I owned a pair of that brand, ages ago. Great quality adventure line. I hope to find a less strenuous hike, while I’m in Glencoe. Thanks for sharing your latest video; amazing views, as usual. Might see you there soon Stripey! 👍🏻✌🏻
Hi Rose 👋, yeah a read a lot about the current heat wave but usually our news are more focused on Europe 😏, hope that you don’t have it as bad 🤞. The new boots are great, I own the Nepal Top for 15? years, 3rd sole and they are still strong - but for most of my trips they are just overkill here in Scotland. Yeah we might see us, depending when you are coming over as my 2nd holiday is just waiting to start and I am going to visit my family and friends back in Germany 😊. Thanks a lot Stripey
Visiting the Scottish Border towns first, for two weeks and looking for low impact walks there. Won’t be up in Glencoe til beginning September Stripey. Enjoy your family vacay and rest your back.✌🏻
@@StripeyHatGuy normally a 4 season boot has a full shank in the sole which makes it extra robust. 3 season boots have usually a 3/4 shank and they're a bit more flexible in the sole. Just curious
No idea tbh, I would consider them B1 in classic terms so 3/4 season boots not as stiff as my Nepal Top which are for my tours here in Scotland overkill...You might find more information than me...the modell is: La Sportiva Aequilibrium ST GTX is the modell
You love your pasta 😂 is it quick cook? Or does it stay Al dent'e? I usually do noodles with dehydrated veg. I use the same method for a slow cook. Sometimes with cous cous too. Keep the awesome vids coming! 😎
