You’re really hard core mate! Love that bivvy camping! Another important tip is to empty your bladder before going to bed. It will make you a lot warmer and you’ll sleep better too. Thanks for sharing your adventure!
Yeh brilliant 👍, definitely a brilliant tip that one . Hey thanks for watching, it's much appreciated and the comment too. Always good to hear from ya. Atb Rick n Billydog 👍
Absolutely brilliant Rick, thankyou! Would you be able to do a kit load out for what you generally take when up in the mountains? Always inspiring, thanks so much Rick 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Cheers Scott, thanks mate 🙂👍. Yeh I reckon I can do that 🙂. Just sat around a fire in the forest with Billy. Quiet night chilling and a Night under the tarp 🙂👍🔥
Magnificent. I will get up there soon. I have been map reading for Ayrshire and Argyll, planning on getting up there soon. Atb Rick. Look at those skies! Deary me. Epic.
Yeh Si, would be a fantastic backdrop for the pics 👍. Remember that Raven that visited us on the Fairfield horse shoe that proper wild trip where we could hardly stand up on the top.
Cheers Martin 👍, yeh it was a good spot that. Bit uneven n rocky but a cracking sheltered spot with great views and an ace little cubby hole for the stove 🙂👍
Great video Rick. I'm looking into bivvying this season having used tents and hammocks, and was wondering about sleeping bags. You're the only one who has mentioned which type of sleeping bag to get. Thanks for that mate. Really good tips.
Cheers fella 🙂👍. Bivvying is a fantastic way to sleep.in the mountains. Looking forward to plenty of trips myself this spring 🙂. Enjoy your adventures Atb Rick 👍
Thank you for the tips, friends.... these are very useful for beginners like me, I will apply and use the tips you have given. By the way.... the view that you present from the top is very good, like a very beautiful painting 👍🏻👍🏻😍 greetings from me, new friend 🙏🏻😁
Cheers Moonbeam 🙂👍. That stove is a little vango one that stands independently on the floor. I use them with all my Duke of Edinburgh groups because they're stable and safer to use than the ones with the burner attaching to the top of the gas canister. Good little inexpensive stove 🙂👍.
Really enjoyed that Rick - for me, one of your best videos mate. You set a brutal pace up that mountain pal. A top night and look forward to getting out to share a single malt round a fire soon - ATB pal.
Hardcore that Rick. I couldn't agree more about protecting those carotid arteries in the neck, I get a sore throat that can lead to other problems just from the air-conditioning in the car unless I have a lightweight silk/nylon scarf around my neck. In extreme heat, making that scarf damp cools me down too. I also find that closing my n=mouth with a scarf or snood helps me, but others might complain about condensation - you know when you wake up with a white frozen mouth cover. Billy is a good hot water bottle though.
Cheers Robert he sure is a good little hot water bottle. Always miss him when I'm out without him 🙂. Yeh , the neck covering is very important ain't it. Makes a massive difference. Looking forward to digging a bit more of my cold weather gear out 🙂. Love the winter months. Hope alls well over there in Bulgaria 👍 Cheers Robert, atb mate Rick n Billydog
Haha, can't blame ya really lol 😆. Handy when you're moving fast n far n as light as possible. Better for relaxing n chilling with the views when the weather is beautiful 🙂 Cheers Alexandra 👍
Nice one Rick mate some good tips I would definitely use a synthetic sleeping bag I had a down sleeping bag on a similar camp and it was a bit wet and cold so bag got wet no good at all nice yomp at the end catch up soon mate atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍

Great video and tips for people looking to bivvy camp. I have yet to do one not bought one yet but looking at doing a camp with one in the peak district. Just bought a pair of bootys as well there the mutts nuts, make a big diffrence and boost morale after a long hike. I would use a tarp with it in some places as it gives you cover and somewhere to change out of your wet gear. Im back off up to Fort William on Thursday night got a meeting with Mr Nevis.👍
Hey, cheers Stu, have a great trip up Scotland, look forward to seeing a few pics from the Ben 👍. Nearly always use a tarp with it in the woods but depends how light I want to travel in the mountains 🙂. Love the simplicity of it but their designed more for moving fast n just fir sleep not really a mountain group camp lol where you're sat round chilling out 😀 Cheers Stu, have a great trip mate 👍
Great tips Rick, gotta love a bivi. I bivi camped for 6 months in Oman, it never rained! I did however wake up to find a Gordon's wild Cat making its bed on me one night, bit of a "moment" that one!
Hi Rick, I always learn something from your tips, thanks for sharing. I have just got back from the spey River trip, it was the best adventure I have ever had bloody brilliant. I was looking for some videos on packing a canoe, there are very few and no UK ones I can see. Would be good to see your thoughts. Cheers Rick always enjoy your vids.
Cheers Neal, the Spey is a fantastic trip isn't it. Absolutely beautiful river everything you could want in a multi day trip. Amazing scenery from mountains to coast, great camp spots n some great rapids for the canoe. I'm not surprised it's you're favourite adventure, I love it every time. Superb trip 🙂🙂. Might be a good idea for a film 🙂🙂 Cheers Neal, atb mate Rick n Billydog
Hey cheers Tony, thanks for checking in mate 👍. I've just been spending time outdoors without the camera, having a bit of a reset tha knows 🙂. Gotta do it every now n then 😀😀. Funny though because I did some filming a few days ago and the film is due out in about 6 minutes lol 😆 😅. Cheers Tony, like I say thanks for checking in mate 👍 Atb Rick n Billydog

Excellent mate! Top tips for the colder months of bivi camping. Looks like you had a comfy night's kip matey. Was a top camp wasn't it. I was hoping to get to see the priest hole, did you not head that way then? Great to have you out with us buddy
Yeh man, set off over there n knocked a couple of peaks off but the old Sciatica was giving me a bit of Sh*t so didn't drop over to the Priest hole. Good little trip though Ants, enjoyed it mate. Love a good little trip in thd beautiful Lake District 🙂👍 Cheers Ants, atb mate
Love your points although I’m unsure on tip one. I take both a bivvi and tent and I go for the bivvi over the tent myself if shelter from the wind is not all I want it to be. Less surface area to catch the wind and therefore I’m thinking less chance of damage to your tent/bivvi. Please do let me know what I’m missing so I can understand better. Many thanks.
Hey cheers, yeh my point was just to choose a sheltered spot as opposed to an open mountain top where you can get out of the elements. Like you say the lower profile makes it easier to find that sheltered spot and the lack of needing pegs etc means the ground isn't as important. A pile of rocks or a small ledge, a boulder etc all might over some shelter/ protection. Definitely makes a massive difference when just in a Bivvy bag 🙂👍 even if just for cooking, relaxing, setting up etc Cheers 🙂👍
Cheers Steven 👍, it's the Montane Prism the blue one. Really great lightweight insulated jacket. I had one before this one for about 10 years. Good kit 👍. I've a film somewhere with a little review on it but can safely say, I like it 👌
I just get in it when it's time to get some shut eye Benny 🙂. Enjoy the views as the night draws in and the stars in the sky until I'm ready hit the sack 🙂. Cheers Benny 👍

Great video Rick and some great tips. Especially the hat and buff/scarf, that brew stop spot would be a good sheltered spot for bivi-ing.
