    I am going through the same thing! I lost one of my front teeth when I was 7. I hit the pavement face first riding a razor scooter and knocked it out. The dentists tried to shove it back in my mouth but in the end they couldn't save it. It rotted and got pulled back out of my mouth and was left with a gap. My mother was a single mother of 4 and couldn't afford to get it fixed. Jump ahead to me now at 30 and the gap has since closed and my teeth have shifted to wear my only front tooth is now front and center. I've been to multiple dentist that have never seen a case like mine and they don't know the proper way to fix it. I didn't know there were so many other people in the same position as me....this video gives me so much hope! Now I just need to find a dentist that has the same capabilities:) Thank you for sharing this story!!!

    Hello doctor, i had braces when i was 15yrs old for 2yrs at that time just let my mom and dentist do the work later on in my early mid 20's i notice that i don't have one latéral incisor which make my midline teeth is not good and show no missing teeth as the gap was filled by the next teeth but my smile is ackward. Even in my lower teeth i am missing a lot of teeth which gives them some space even i already had braces again to.fix the gap.still if i dont wear my retainers at night the tend to seperate with each other. I
    only got 28 teeth in all 14 in upper and 14 in the lower...i feel like i was been experimented

    Nice! My midline is off as one of my central incisor never grew. As a result my upper jaw is smaller and has a crossbite. However it doesn't interfere with eating and talking. An orthodontists said the only way to correct this was braces, jaw surgery and probably an implant. Would love to see if I could get veneers done to give the illusion of straighter teeth.

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  4 роки тому +1

      Kai - midline is part of a smile which can only be fully corrected with braces, surgery etc. What we often discuss is alternative options where the treatment is not so complex (no surgery and often no braces) that corrects all the other issues but not the midline. The results are usually excellent but NOT perfect given the biological limitations. This is we have completed for Cameron. There are always options and as long as you understand the pros and cons of each you can then choose the best for you.

      It depends on which tooth is missing and what the overall cosmetic result the patient is looking for. Braces can close any gap however may not give the ideal cosmetic result if one front tooth is missing - the space may go but the symmetry and harmony of the smile may not be ideal.

Back then in the Philippines I guess dentists weren’t too concerned with saving the tooth because I had only chipped half of it when I fell and hit my face into a tree 😢. So they pulled it out. So in time the other incisor tooth moved in the middle. Would it be advisable to do braces to move my teeth to open a space for an implant?

    Is it possible to make a gap in the front using braces and a tooth be implant there...

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  3 роки тому

      Yes it's possible to have braces and make space for a dental implant however when we do this generally there won't be enough bone for the implant - when the teeth are pulled apart this "stretches" the bone and therefore the best option then is bone grafting before the dental implant. Every case is very different and it's very important that you seek a few opinions before you have the treatment started. Wishing you all the best.

      @@advanceddentalartistryperthWill bone grafting be a major surgery???And after how many days of bone grafting , the implant will be done??

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  3 роки тому

      @@souradip_m bone grafting is a complex procedure because bone tissue is a very slow healing/growing tissue. Generally when we're doing bone grafting the time depends on the amount of bone that needs to be created and it will be at least 9 to 12 months before implant can be placed. There are many different types of bone grafting including using the patients own bone or artificial bone (e.g. Bioss, Ethoss, etc) . Each technique is different and it really depends on the volume of bone that is required to build the area to a level which can then have the implant treatment. We would generally say to a patient that it would take at least 12 to 15 months before the tooth can be finalised.

    this is the first and probably only video that I feel is an accurate description of what my teeth look like minus that severe staining. I had a failed root canal on my number 8 tooth when I was 12. i had a partial to take up the space. I quickly lost it and my parents couldn't afford to replace it. so over the years the matching front tooth has moved into a more central position as well but there still a small space. I am now 30 and currently have damon braces on for about 4 months now. I would like to know how to approach my orthodontist about this situation because it looks like he is trying to go the easy route and just give me the one central front tooth which I really do not want. are there any options that he may not know about that I can bring to his attention to recreate a gap for a dental implant???

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  6 років тому

      Hi Aero - thanks for your comments. We need to always consider the END result and final clinical result when starting treatment. So hence your treatment should be guided by a cosmetic dentist as the end result is to place a dental implant and new tooth in the right position. They can complete a Digital Smile Design to estimate the correct final position of the central tooth. Ideally, in the digital world, it's possible to complete a bone scan (CBCT), mouth scan (e.g. 3Shape Trios) and facial scan (e.g. Bellus 3d) and plan the FINAL teeth position first. From here the orthodontist could have a 3D printed guide to the final teeth position, the implant surgeon would know if there is enough bone in the implant position and the cosmetic dentist (and patient) would know the final outcome.

      Hi Dr Sunami, Thanks for your feedback. If you are referring to Cameron's trial smile image at 7.04, it is actually straight after the temporary/trial smile insert hence the reason why the gums look a little red and sore. If you see his final portrait at his review 8.15 Cameron's gums look great :-)In terms of a root canal, elective root canals are not something we do here at ADAP. The tooth goes dark and long term the prognosis is not great as it is more prone to go brittle and fracture in the future. With all our treatments we try and do the best for the patient long term. We hope this helps!

      Thank you for explanation. I had similar experience. I wanted to cover a gap that I was visible when I smiled. My dentist did root canal on a healthy tooth and made a crown with a false tooth to cover the gap. I was happy with it but it only lasted about 8 years before the tooth fractured. It couldn’t be saved so I am in the process of getting an implant now.

      Braces may not get you to where you want to be. If you have very consistent sizing and shape of teeth, then braces are great for realignment. The problem in this and other case is that even if we were to use braces the teeth would still not look too pleasing aesthetically. With veneers it ensures that we have total control on the out come and final smile. The best thing to do is to consult a professional as there are many factors that could make certain treatments available or unavailable to you.

    • @advanceddentalartistryperth
      @advanceddentalartistryperth  5 років тому +1

      As in Cameron's case there were no teeth removed and we use porcelain veneers to ensure very other aspect of his smile was correct so that the midline issue was hard to see. The only other way would have been braces (orthodontic) to move the teeth with either a dental implants and/or porcelain veneers to reshape a few teeth. It really depends on your end goal. There is always treatment options however they must be matched with what the patient wants.

      Hello again! I would consider going to a specialist cosmetic dental practice - not a general practice. Research a practice that deal with complex smile makeovers every day. They will be able to assess you properly and advise you on the best treatment options. I would suggest looking into porcelain veneers/cosmetics, that way there would be no need to remove the tooth. It may not give you a perfect midline, but it could certainly help to improve things e.g. like Cameron's case in the video :-)

    He would be too self-conscious with braces yet only has one central incisor?

      @@advanceddentalartistryperth im going through the same thing i have 1 central incisor and the orthodontist was trying to open the space as much as possible but its not enough for a dental implant because the space is to small he want to close the space and use my lateral incisor as a central insicor by making it larger should i let him or should i let him open it as much as possible and leave the space as its not to big or close the space leaving one front teeth because its pretty large idk what to do

      I totally agree, the midline is still way from perfect. However the overall smile is better. This is a case were we cannot promise a perfect smile. There are too many biological limitations that would mean either a compromised result using just porcelain treatment or a combination of braces, surgery/implants and porcelain to get it perfect. Time and costs considered he opted for porcelain cosmetics only. Thanks for watching and your direct comments - often just better to say it straight ;-) Take care

      Hi Momo - I agree this is a compromised result and this was mentioned in the video. With orthodontics and implant treatment, we could have completed a more ideal result and this was discussed with the patient at length. The patient declined this option (due to multiple reasons including having seen an orthodontist previously) and understood the compromised outcome. Thanks for your comments - its draws attention to biological limitations and ultimately the patients decision to have treatment completed.
