- I attempted to take my electric car on a road trip and it did not do so well! Please be careful and make sure you have more than enough charming stations. Small towns aren’t as ready for electric cars but they are getting there! I Now drive a Renewed [spend $4000 tires-windshield-underside repairs] 2001 Chevy Silverado ext cab . It runs and drives like new. Plus its paid for/ parts are cheap & its doesnt cost a arm & leg to fix/Maint, gets 22mpg which is Cheaper than than a monthy payment and the cost of insurance/taxes to own and care for a new ride. My Infotainment Center is a 12.9 Ipad.
If U can find a Rust Free Pre built 2002 Truck GET it ! everything made/designed after 2001 attacks and covid bs ! has major metal defects / designed / over tec build issues like we never seen before. If they had wings LOL it would be worth the cost and pain. Take care !
Oh my family through i was crazy in doing this . until My friend, payed $8244 dollars in Taxes for a New Ford Truck $77,000 w/same options on my 2001 lol. Hes pissed w/$1300 monthly payments for 5yrs .
Kyoa gets access to Tesla charging network this year so at least that will be better. If you road trip right now today, Tesla is the only way to go. Im waiting for a smaller version of the EV9. Ev6 was just too small for me
You said exactly what I was trying to explain! Tesla is more advanced than the other brands at the moment when it come to charging stations. The EV6 was tight, but I hear the EV9 is a great size! I love 3rd rows!
My road trip through Death Valley says otherwise. Your review is half accurate. And yes I have an EV6 AND a Model 3 Tesla
How many miles was Death Valley? I feel like the south isn’t as prepared as other states like California.
If you are going to buy an EV, buy a Tesla. As she said, there are lots of Tesla chargers, so Tesla's are not going to have the charging issues of the other EVs. And, for road trips, Tesla's software/planner will guide you where you should charge (Tesla Supercharger locations) along the way. Simply put in the destination and your Tesla will automatically not only plan the route, it will pre-condition the battery just prior to the charging station to allow the vehicle to charge quickly. Remember, Tesla has been around over a decade and therefore Tesla is so far ahead of the other companies. Management knew that in order for their EVs to be feasible, they needed many Supercharger locations so they built out their charging network for years and are continually building more and more. The other EV companies are in their infancy compared to Tesla.

The challenge is you did not plan your trip. Or pre plan. I recommend getting a better route planner it will help you
You’re right! And maybe getting an adapter for the charging stations that aren’t EV Go
Perhaps a PHEV (plug-in hybrid), like a Niro or Sportage, is best for you? Electric for the around town stuff and gas for ease of those road trips that are into poor charging areas.
This is what I should’ve done. I never had a problem within Houston. There are many charging stations. Just an issue with the small towns in Louisiana and Mississippi. I may go Hybrid. I love Kia and the cars they have. I have a sorento.

That's what I tell everyone. No point buying a full EV if you're gonna use it around town. Bought a GEN 1 VOLT. Get 45 miles and on longer trips the generator goes on. No worries.
So buy Tesla. It's also an EV.
Tesla is definitely the way to go if you’re going Electric!

@@planetshauto true, as for me road tripping from Texas to Mississippi, the Kia EV6 was not ideal without an adapter. The south’s small towns still have a lot of catching up to do with charging stations.
