Google Pixel 6 Android 13 Battery Drain FIX!

- So this was actually a suggestion from the comments section on my last video regarding the Google Pixel 6 battery drain on Android 13. A lot of people are still suffering with poor battery life even as the adaptive battery learns so if you are still having trouble, please try this and let me know!

This video drained my battery.
This guy...
Was just about to tag you lol
This is insane. Prior to this update, the Pixel 6 had the best battery and ran better than any other phone I'd had before. Now i can't go through half a day without needing to charge it, and it's a buggy mess whenever it's under 50%. In the time it's taken me to write this comment, it's drained by 2 percent.
You got any solution to this?
Battery replacement
@@joeyrodriguez993 i dont believe thats the solution because people with new phones still have battery problems
@@jimmiegomile8059 that just what I think but everything different
HUGE thanks for posting this fix! Battery life has suffered since I got the P6P 11 months ago. Its gotten "better" with the updates and with Android 13 (on beta also), but its always been very bad. I have way too much on the phone to do a full factory wipe, which I'm assuming would have resolved my issues as well. I work from home, so charging it is never an issue, so I've just been dealing with it. This fix was so fast, so simple, and did the trick! I only lost 3% in standby while I slept about 8 hours, which isn't something I'd thought possible before.
Another great battery fix is to go into settings> battery usage find System UI and restrict it's background usage, I'd also do this for any app you frequent, this doesn't effect performance when you're using the applications or using your phone just it's idle performance.
There is no system UI in battery usage
Had to delete all data, battery life was good for only one day.
The second time I was able to just clear cache.
Battery life is back to normal since then. (2 weeks)
Thank you so much!
Glad it worked!!
Can we get an update please?
Thanks Steve. Stumbled across your video trying to find a fix to this horrendous Android 13 battery drain on my Pixel 6 and it worked like a charm. Battery is back to normal. 2.5hrs SOT and still 70% battery left. Whereas before I would only get 4hrs SOT before hitting 15%.
Glad it worked!
@@StevealiciousTech is your suggestion about clearing the cache something u should do everyday? Every week? Once a month?
Found this from Reddit. I have tried this on my P6A and I can instantly see a noticeable difference. 10 minutes of heavy reddit + camera and only 1% has dropped. Let's see what happens in the long run. Will update you!
Yeah it turned it around almost instantly!
"Heavy Reddit" lmfao pathetic
Can you give an update?
Where's the update
update man!!
BRILLIANT - a fairly full charge of 80+ would drop down into the low 20's overnight. After following this fix it is now way up in the high 70's which is probably better than it was pre the Android 13 upgrade. Many thanks, Phil
How man, how??!!????!!??
My Pixel 6 battery has gone back to normal on its own - even if mobile network still claims to use approx 50% of battery. Now I checked Device Health Services. On my phone cache was darkened - because there was nothing in cache. You're right. These phones offer custom made headaches - no all-in-one messes in Googleland.
Different fixes for different phones. So weird. It's never one issue when something goes wrong.
My 3XL with android 10 was perfect. Not sure why the 6 is a damn nightmare.
Thank you Steve for making this video. I didn't hear about this fix, gave it a try and it's sad to say it didn't help in my case for P6 :( I just wish I didn't update from the beta 4 :(
Awww, yes like all pixel fixes it seems to be case by case. It didn't improve even temporarily after you tried?
Yo just wanted to say thanks for making this video. My pixel 6 was awful after a13 and after doing this, it made a huge difference. From 8am to 5pm with minimal use still 70% left.
Thanks for watching!
Did u start with a 100% charge at 8? I feel like my battery is draining like crazy. I use it pretty sparingly. I just charged it to 87% about 2 hours ago, and now it's 81%. Is that bad? I have been using it more than usual today for those 2 hours but that still seems bad. Thoughts?
@@excuse.me.sir. you have to fully charge your phone and use it according to your style, then when it reaches close to 5% see how much screen on time you have, then see how long your device was active since you fully charged it from 100% to lets say 5%.
@@TheSnake0444 thanks man. I'll have to try that. Seems like since the 13 update my battery went to shit. I mean it wasn't the best on 12, but it seems like it was starting to stabilize somewhat especially when I disabled permission to the camera in the messages app. My battery wasn't draining nearly as fast. Once it updated to 13 it doesn't matter what I do, it's draining crazy.
@@TheSnake0444 no, don't charge all the way up to 100 ever. It damages the battery with time. Never do that. Keep your phone between 80 and 20 percent. Your battery will live a lot longer like that.
I adjusted the setting as u suggested and so far it has made quite a drastic change, much improvement in battery life, thanks so much for posting this,it worked!
Glad it worked! Some people have had more luck than others!
DUDE I LOVE YOU OMG MY BATTERY IS INCREDIBLE NOW!! 🎉🎉🎉
Glad you were someone who it worked for!
Big thanks to you for this tips. I was having same problem with my pixal 4a. It's works for Pixel 4a as well. 👍
I installed the September update with the supposed battery drain fix and it did absolutely nothing to resolve the problem. After three days since the update my phone was haemorrhaging battery. I had backed up my phone and was about to go through the dreaded process of a factory reset, when I came across this video in my Google feed!
God damn it worked instantly! My Pixel 6 instantly went from showing 9hrs remaining on 86% to over 17hrs. I've been using the phone today and it's 6.45pm and I'm still at 51% 👌🏼💪🏼
Thank you for this video. It saved me a lot of pain by avoiding a factory reset!
Thanks for watching! That was the hope, people who didn't want to go through a full reset!
I had 96% at 9 am. didn't use my phone much, just occasionally took photos and posted on the socials, had extreme battery saver mode on almost all the time. internet, location all turned off. Phone died at 11pm. My friends Vivo which is much cheaper and low battery capacity still had 51%. Battery situation is pretty horrible :/
Before I saw this video. My phone drained 8% from the 100 of full charge after the switch to android 13. Emptied cache and since then I've been at 92% for at least 10 minutes and wrote this review. Thank you!
Hopefully it holds. It's been VERY weird...some people it works right away for, some people it makes worse, some does nothing. It's been a weird ride on Android 13 so far here on the 6.
One year later and my Pixel 6 started to do a rapid drain from 20% to shutting down. It has done this to me about 4 times now. I caught it and plugged it in at 4% and followed these instructions and tried using it at 8%. I opened everything I could think of and ran multiple videos on apps and it only went down 1%!!! This totally worked! Thank you!
IT WORKED! My battery was draining like crazy after the update, googled a solution and found your video. Tried it. INSTANTLY FIXED IT! THANK YOU ✔️
Glad it was able to work for you! Hopefully the update fixes it properly!
This works for my Pixel 6 which I just found after a year. I thought it was lost for good. Thanks for this tip!
Pretty sure this resolved my issue, did it last night, now 6PM and my phone's still above 50%, like before the Android 13 update. Thank you! (Pixel 6Pro)
Glad it worked!
Looks like Google's patch yesterday addresses the battery drain and charging issues I was having!
I can't find that app in my pixel 6 pro. Could u please help me?
Using a Nokia g310, and I've noticed this issue with Motorola phones over the years.. trying this and I'll come back and update! Thanks!
Definitely works! My Pixel 6a idle overnight now losses ~3% instead of ~15% before since Android 13.
Good!!! Some people it works and some it doesn't so glad it works for some at least!
All you guys have pretty nice battery life compared to me. My first 6pro had to be switched out by Google because of battery issues. Now I have the other one. I charged up to 94% yesterday night at midnight. Then left the phone like that until 7. Played some music for 30mins. Left the house with around 82% and then didn't use it much besides some WhatsApp here and there and the clock to stop the time. That's that. I came back home at 3pm with 37% battery. Now I've been watching some UA-cam for half an hour and I'm at 29%. So my phone sure as hell does not last all day.
I tried this fix now. So far i set it up 15mins ago and I've started at 30%, watched this video, started writing this comment and am still at 29%. So far so good. Seems like it already improved something. Will see what will come out of it in the long run.
How's the battery today?
@@rafaelcosio266 dead because a car rolled over it 😭😅 but it managed to get a bit better after the fix but not immensely. I got the 7 pro after and it was immensely better in terms of battery right away
This did nothing for my battery drain on my pixel 6.
Android 13 is just terrible for battery life. People need to avoid it for now until they can fix it. IF they can fix it.
I'm not even close to being halfway through my day and I'm down in the 40+%. This problem came to light on my Pixel 6 Pro pretty quickly after the update. Ridiculous! My "Clear cache" was dark--as you suggested that it might be--and I followed through with "Clear all data". I'm going to charge her back up and turn off Battery Saver (I've not needed it before). Thank you in advance. Really! Based on the comments below, I'm sure I'll see a difference. But even if I'm one of the unlucky P6P guys, you're still a champ!!!
Hopefully it still works and there is another video I just put out for those who it doesn't work for!
@@StevealiciousTech GPS on Waze for an hour and 10 minutes (screen on) plus two voice call adding up to a little over an hour. Total consumption was 14%. You did it!
Thank you for information, I will give it a shot. I have never had to charge my battery so many times throughout the day with the 13 update. Have you had an experience with bluetooth issues? The Galaxy Watch 4 Classic is constantly in a state of reconnecting.
That I haven't had! How long have you been running 13 now?
@@StevealiciousTech I updated it over the weekend, so maybe a few days. The battery has been absolutely terrible and I have had several issues with bluetooth between my watch, car, and AirPods Pro.
Hopefully this helps, then! But it seems to be device to device what works!
@@StevealiciousTech I will keep the thread updated on any progress 👍🏻. Thanks for all that you do!
If it's bullshit I'll be back, but the first actionable piece of advice for Android 13 halving my battery on my Pixel 6 I've seen in all my search.
This actually does work! I was surprised but I tried it and it does actually fix it! Another setting I recommend turning on to save more Battery is Suspend Execution For Cached Apps you can find that setting in Developer Options.
Awesome !!! The battery endurance shows more than one day again.. Thnx a lot :)
Giving this a shot on my P6P. One thing that definitely helped was deleting the full Facebook and messenger app and downloading the Facebook/messenger Lite app.
Facebook always is one of the worst battery drainer on Android and iOS.
Yup I just did this couple days ago. Do u know if there's dark on messenger lite?
Yep deleted FB app and batter has improved immensely.
I get around 3 and a half hours screen on time and I'm not really using it that heavily. Mainly Facebook, Messenger, Snapchat and Email. I don't call or text as much. Pixel 6 on Android 13. 60% screen brightness, 90Hz adaptive battery on.
I've just done this, so I'll update you shortly.
Either way, THANK YOU for this video!!
*UPDATE*
IT ACTUALLY WORKED. Where as I'd be on 30% around now, I'm actually on 80% bang on.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Android 12 and the pixel 6 pro in my case was terrible. Couldn't go a day without charging it. Now I can use my phone all day and still come home with 30% with 8 hours screen time.
Battery drian on my p6p is brutal since Android 13, tried a lot of things but not this. Will try and update. Thanks
After June update my pixel 7 battery got insane piwers😂😂. If charged 100 now then next charge will be day after tomorrow.

I'm interested to know how people would rate the battery life of their P6 on Android 12 compared to Android 13 with your fix. I'm still sitting at Android 12 and afraight to upgrade as I fear for losing valuable battery life. Can anyone share their experience on this?
I had the battery drain while on airplane mode with android 12. My battery would go from 84% to 54% overnight while idle on airplane mode. Upgraded to 13 hoping for a fix, and no, it's just as bad. Trying these "fixes" now and will see if it helps.
@@williamgrimm1353 did it help??
@@lucasaraniz6489 Honestly I don't know what helped. I used this method 5 months ago, and didn't see an immediate change. But maybe weeks to a month later my battery seemed to be fine again. I don't know what made the improvement.
This worked for me; it's the first time my phone has felt cool to the touch since installing 13.
Oh wow, glad it worked!
I tried this fix on my pixel 6a. Because I was getting noticeably better battery life on android 12 than android 13. Like 2 and a half or so more hours of screen on time. So I'm hoping to see if this solves the problem. Also glad you did it on 5g as I don't have home WiFi. Thanks for the video! Any troubleshooting is worth a shot.
Exactly...all the help we can get with these things sometimes!!
Yeah my 6a is performing way worse than my old 3a
i just got this phone and i swear it has been driving me crazy so far.. I updated it immediately after I got it and oof. I charge it before bed till around 11:10 usually to 90% (for battery health reasons) and when I wake up at 6it's at 65-70%. I listen to Spotify for 40 minutes and another 10% goes away. and God forbid if I want to use it as wifi router for my tablet when I'm at school I make it home with 30% left.
hopefully this fixes it

@@lucasaraniz6489 i ended up resetting it and doing all these tricks immediately after and now it's fine
Steve what's up watching your videos and my pixel 6a battery was dying not lasting full day so came across you video and now trying 5g see what it does 👍🏾💪🏿
Anyone who had a problem with the wireless charging on P6 or P6Pro notice that the update to A13 solved the issue?
You absolute hero, it's fixed my battery drain 😍
Glad it worked! Hope it holds...never know with these things!
It worked, but I originally had phone health disabled. I enabled & then cleared.
I also turned off 5G.
The phone has incredible battery life now.
I get good 5G but the phone has been lagging & also having calls dropped.
Since doing both my phone (6 pro android 13 beta) is snappy again, calls are connected without drops & battery life is unbelievable.
I think turning off the 5G has the biggest impact. My phone has 1 downloaded apps, a note pad, so app drain was not an issue.
5G absolutely is an issue with all devices right now. No one can seem to get a handle on it.
Just did this on my new P6A, gonna update in a couple of days, thanks!
I have Pixel 7 and I tried this, I will update my comment after a day or so
Even on new phone my battery is bad...
edit: 1 hour in, placebo effect or a MINOR improvement..
update: phone returned battery is dog shig
It's not just Pixel 6 that's impacted by this, but Pixel 5 as well. My phone used to last me all day but now it struggles to last half of it since Android 13 update. Giving this solution a try and hoping it's the holy grail my phone is in need of.
Turning off "Adaptive Battery" fixed my draining issue. Apparently the setting uses more energy trying to figure out which apps to throttle than just leaving the apps alone. How ironic.
Hey man, I have pixel 5 and my battery after updating lost his previous endurance. have you solved battery drain with turning off "adaptive battery" ?)
The ultimate battery hack is to turn your phone off and stop using it
Did this and my mobile network drain is 30% now instead of previous 15-18% 😀
Phone idle remains around 17%
Hi Steve, thank you for posting this as a potential fix. I'm just wondering how its going now several days later after your initial test.
I'm holding off from installing 13 on my P6 for now, its working just fine on 12, but I had major issues after the Dec 21 patch update that left it with low signal strength and severe battery drain. (Google pulled that update, then took almost 2 months to fix it for the affected phones...)
this feels a lot like Déjà Vu to me, it seems like Google might not haven't learned anything from that previous problem.
After updating from 12 to 13, I did a factory reset of the phone and clean installed all of my apps. I haven't had any battery drain since being on 13 on my Pixel 6.
Good! That worked for some but not for others...the results were all over the board.
@@StevealiciousTech Wouldn't a factory reset basically do the clear cache fix of that app and more?
You'd think. But this is a way for people to try something without the hassle of a full reset.
I tried this, twice, and I'm still getting the massive idle battery drain
I have a Pixel 6 and the battery life was really shocking. But Link to Windows and Samsung health were just killing it. Removed both and it's much better but i'm still down to like 50% after an 8 hour work day which involves like 30 mins of calling and a few email/websites (no videos or games either)
For me tensor chip is the reason why this battery drain fast . I have google 4xl with snapdragon processor had no problem with battery specially with standby mode. Performance also is great. Maybe this 2nd gen tensor chip will fix this battery issue in the google pixel 7 on wards.
Wonderful, it fixed the batterie drain, even better than before with Android 12, thanks...
Glad it worked!
My phone was in 99% when I went to sleep, woke up 7 hours later and now i have 77% wtf
It worked. The battery isn't fantastic, but it's better.
with my techniques i was able to drain just 2% of battery overnight :) the key is to restrict background activities on all apps u don't use. also, disable wifi throttling, wifi and Bluetooth scanning, turn off printing services, turn off background data
Pixel 6 had 44% drain on Mobile Network with wifi and 16% drain on phone idle. I had this phone plugged in to a slow charger while watching this video and the battery was still draining. Followed the instructions on this video and now the phone is charging. Ill see how it goes from here on out, but this kind of makes my phone a burden with this bug.
I just tried this fix and my battery drained 8% while watching UA-cam for 30 mins!!!
Holy shit... It's worse than before now :(
Google really needs to fix this shit!
I tried this fix and even after rebooting, my battery drains 10% every 40-60 minutes. It looks like my phone has the September update too.
Just tried it. Will let you know if it works. Thank you.
Hopefully it does! Let me know! Was yours still bad?
@@StevealiciousTech Will do. Have been losing 30% battery each night on my Pixel 6, since the update to Android 13, to "Phone Idle."

Since the September update, my Pixel 6 battery experience on Android 13 has been excellent.
Problem fixed AND better battery life than before. Legit
Glad it helped!!
Well, this helped but didn't completely solved the drain. I've lost 7% in 7h when I was sleeping with no apps running, WiFi enabled and BT enabled. It's possible it's because one of the carriers I have on eSIM has a bad reception so I'll try to disable it and check again.
I've been staring at the "get Android 13 now" notification for 3 days now because I'm worried about this lol. My battery is stellar right now.
If your battery is good, I would hang on at this point and see how the September update goes!
@@StevealiciousTech that's kinda what I'm thinking. I currently charge it when I get home at 6pm, take it off the charger at 100% and it's usually good until the next day at 6pm. Can't really ask for much more.

THANKS! I did this two days ago and it seems to have worked.
I have a pixel 8 pro and i dont have this device health services option in the settings....what do i do?
Another thing I've observed was that turning off AOD gave me additional 30mins of SOT. While AOD and the lockscreen itself doesn't drain the battery..I'm guessing having AOD on turns on other background services that rely on AOD. I don't know if anyone would benefit from this but you can give it a try.
Highly doubt that it wakes up other processes. It should only have just one process running and plus your display will scaled down the refresh rate so you should have like zero change in battery, standby or very very little
What's aod
Update to 13 and it's five days later.
The battery is going fast so I'm here trying to learn if I can do something about it.

Hey man, do you have any idea if this would work on other Android phones? I just got the 13 update on my Zenfone 8 and don't seem to have any issues personally, but my mother has after the update with a Samsung Galaxy M32 (huge battery) and after fully charging last night until about 8pm, she woke up and it was down to around 30%. I checked her battery usage and it showed a huge drop of around 50% from midnight until 6am and the only usage was One UI for a couple of minutes between 12-2am and 4-6am 🧐
What else resets this procedure plus from automatic brightness and battery stats?
After doing this, do we keep Adaptive Battery enabled or disabled?
Giving your fix a shot, I had to put my SIM back in my s21 ultra for awhile, so I didn't lose control of my arm throwing the phone out the window. Lol

@@StevealiciousTech 6a seems to have no issues at all. Mine never ever had any of the 6/pro issues. They might iron out the issues of the older 6 phones.
