- Hi everyone. In this video we visit the historical scenic town of Nelsonville Ohio! Come along with us as we explore the beautiful town square area!
Update: It was only after watching the video here myself just now that I noticed I videoed the town square from the opposite side. It was only after Stephen and Yhana's comment pinned below that I noticed it. You can clearly see the school which is no longer there in the plaque on the old school bell where the school was!

You know, I just noticed now after reading your comment, that I filmed the town square from the opposite side than the mural. When you look at the bell plaque it shows the old school which is no longer there on the square but is in the mural. I updated the description here. Thanks so much for watching Stephen and Yhana. What a lovely mural at the beginning 😍 and yes Kathy I agree, going to grab some lunch sounds like a great idea 😁 loved the school bell and it's the original too which was returned back, that's amazing. What a lovely town, also we loved the opera house building. It looked like the town from back to the future to us hehe. Shame the restaurant wasn't open 😕 another great video guys as always

What a beautiful, historical town. I loved the mural you were standing in front of. The star bricks were very unique, and so attractive. Wow, the Victorian Skeleton house looks incredible! This was such an enjoyable tour - thank you, both!

That was a lovely old historic town with buildings I think you said all from around 1839 like that place you had lunch in ? They all looked so well kept for them being that old. Beautiful . Thanks for showing us this historic place . See you on the next adventure 😃👍🏴
Many of them were Anna and Alf. Some however were newer as late as 1900. When you look at the mural and compare some of the buildings are newer. The school house where the bell was is no longer there and it's a park. Thanks so much for watching and your lovely comment!

What a beautiful downtown. I’ve driven through Nelsonville many times when I was young, but never really stopped to see the area.

@@cc9615 Kathy spent 4 days recovering (From her hamstring pull) in Parkersburg across the river. We got over to Marietta quite a bit and started two of our drives there. We loved the area!

Another lovely tour! I do love watching your journey and seeing all the wonderful pieces of history!! I've noticed a lot of the places aren't open or they only open on weekends etc. It must be a sign of the times as I've noticed it here as well, especially pubs and food places!! This is really nice! Looks like a great place to visit, the weather looks beautiful, a quiet nice town. I love the mural and how clean the town is. Lots of history that's for sure. The star brick is so incredible, the brick reminds me of Europe, even though it's cobble stone, it looks very similar. Another great video you and Kathy look great. Safe travels and Happy New Year!!!

We would have loved to explore more and we're trying to find an old historic hotel where we wanted to stay. We had seen it on the internet but I don't believe it was open anymore. The 19th century architecture in America is so different from architecture of the same period in England. Really interesting to see this old Town.
I think for the most part they were later 19th century, Alice. Some not quite that old. I noticed a few cornerstones that were early 20th century. I think most of yours were earlier. Thanks so much for watching and your wonderful comment. Love having you along!

Love the murals. This summer we went to Ashland Wisconsin and checked out all the murals that are in the downtown area. That was pretty fun. They have some pretty awesome murals. That's a very pretty town square. Those bricks are really pretty. Ah love old brick roads. Little bumpy to drive on, but so cool to see. Love all the old buildings. I'm a big fan of walking around old towns and checking out the historic buildings. Haha says lunch, but doesn't open until 4. That's kind of funny. Wow 1830s. That's very cool. I absolutely love that house! It does sort of look like it could be in a scary movie, but how gorgeous! Very cool tour. Looks like a real nice town.
Ashland is right near where I'm (Dave) from! Bayfield Wisconsin is only 19 miles away. Two women (believe they we're sisters or cousins) painted the murals your referring to. They also painted many murals through the entire area to help preserve the area's history. In about 4 more videos we're going to start our Fall road-trip videos which will include some more of them though not the ones in Ashland. If you ever get to Ashland again you should head up to Bayfield if you didn't. It's the Gateway to the Apostle Island National Lakeshore!
