I have been to Hocking Hills several times, both in summer and winter... it is fantastic and I love going back when we can. It's a pretty well kept secret in my opinion. The Hocking Hills zipline tours are pretty fun too. Love it!

Such a beautiful place, pictures and video don't do it justice! Spent a few days down there a couple years ago with the family, would highly recommend it!
Imagine being the first people to see this place. Probably camps were made at the time by native peoples. I would love to visit, and also what are the ideas about ashes? Looks like the no swimming and wading sign was just for looks. Lovely family.,
I always think about the first people to run across these kinds of places too. Can you imagine the frustration of early Europeans heading west and running into the Great Lakes? Those are pretty big obstacles. Then to run across spots like these that are so beautiful. Here's a really short article about Ash Cave that lists some of the theories: www.hockinghills.com/ash_cave.html
At our first stop, a couple of young women yelled "Go Blue" at me. I wore my Michigan Rocks shirt the second day where there were a lot more people. No comments on that.

my older brother was in the boy scouts in the early 70's and had some sort of event at that park. can remember thinking years later "was that really in Ohio?
My son was posting pictures to Instagram or something while we were there and when people asked where he was and he responded, "Ohio", everyone was surprised. That's how I came up with the idea for the thumbnail.
I was only familiar with the farm land parts before. Actually, that's not true. I've drive through the southeastern part of the state and remember that being more hilly and interesting. Hocking Hills was just awesome though.
WOWOWOW~! That place is stunning....thank you for the trip~ AND...you sure got your future rock picking partner right there~ He is into rocks~ BIG TIME!
Karst topography is limestone as far as I know. One of the webpages I read said that Rock House was the only true cave. The other things that were called caves were more like overhanging cliffs.
Well dang you’re about 15 minutes away from me down in my neck of the woods literally. Lol. We chatted a bit about puddingstone and brook trout fishing last year in comments on one of your videos. I was the one mentioning our supply (a few hundred pounds) of puddingstone boulders and rocks brought back from north of Sault Ste. Marie Ontario from a “source” in the backwoods near Thessalon Ontario.

That was wonderful! What a great place. Beautiful family. Thank you. Suzy
Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed the video, Suzy!
We are heading to Hocking Hills for the first time. Thank you for the preview. Tell Nancy, I now know to bring an umbrella.
I told her. She laughed. That drippy spot was right after a downpour, so you probably won't need an umbrella unless you go right after a rain too.
Beautiful place x🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
I always recommend a basic pair of hiking sticks when hiking Hocking Hills. I bought mine at Walmart and they have been serving me well for over 8 years.
I used to downhill ski. I don't think I could use those without zigzagging down the hills.
It's beautiful here. I live about 3 miles from Cantwell Cliffs and Rock House, halfway between. I absolutely love it here!
Wow, what a great place to live. It's really nice there.
See what I get for being on the road for most of May..... I miss great geology!
Beautiful place; we'll have to visit this location someday.
If you don't love this place, there's something wrong with you.
Such a beautiful place, pictures and video don't do it justice! Spent a few days down there a couple years ago with the family, would highly recommend it!
Video doesn't do it justice either, at least not this one. Definitely the kind of place people should visit if they can.
Well Joe was tring to tell us about it😉. Start him young👍. Nice walk about, thanks for taking us along.
He was pretty talkative at times, but never cried the whole day.
How much trouble did you all find yourselves in with the Michigan gear? You know we don't stand for that here 🤣🤣
At our first stop, a couple of young women yelled "Go Blue" at me. I wore my Michigan Rocks shirt the second day where there were a lot more people. No comments on that.
Beautiful! I wonder if any movies have been shot there? Adorable baby…great family…blessed times.
I don't know, but it sure looked like a good set for a movie.
amazing vibes going on here xoxo
I live about 20 min from there - never take it for granted. It's an amazing place. My son is related to the Conkles.
I really enjoyed Hocking Hills.
Beautiful spot!! I'd not known about this place before.
Me either. It’s so beautiful that I can’t believe I hadn’t heard of it until now.
Awesome man! I’m from Ohio.. love your channel!
You can be proud of this Ohio treasure!
Watched twice...want to go there. Gorgeous...trying to get reservations!
That was a very fun trip.
funny we have been wanting to go the last two years but the UP always wins out. this changed my mind for next year or a quick trip this year if I can get two days off in a row. thanks for the video!
There's nothing wrong with the U.P. but this spot is worth a trip too.
* The Tree roots really held part of the stacked stones together. WOW. ~ ~ Are Ferns Native there or were they brought in by Settlers??
I don't know for sure, but I thought ferns were native. We sure have ferns everywhere up here in Michigan.
my older brother was in the boy scouts in the early 70's and had some sort of event at that park. can remember thinking years later "was that really in Ohio?
My son was posting pictures to Instagram or something while we were there and when people asked where he was and he responded, "Ohio", everyone was surprised. That's how I came up with the idea for the thumbnail.
I really enjoyed watching your family outings.
Thanks. We had a really nice time there.
Great video! Did you have any subscribers recognize you when you were there in Ohio?
I don't think so. I get recognized on Michigan beaches, but not so much in other places.
Go to Flint Ridge knapper event if in Ohio Memorial Day weekend!
That's right now and I'm back home in Michigan.
Great family adventure.
Whoah, I see ancient Tartaria... thank you for showing us..
I had to look that term up. This sure is a beautiful spot, looked like something from a movie.
Ohio is beautiful if you look in the right places
Other wise it’s just farm land
I was only familiar with the farm land parts before. Actually, that's not true. I've drive through the southeastern part of the state and remember that being more hilly and interesting. Hocking Hills was just awesome though.
I grew up in Ohio and sadly I never ventured there. Definitely on my to do list next time I visit family.
Yes, being from Ohio, this is a must see destination.
really nice, thanks :)
I saw the thumbnail and thought it was a Titanfall 2 video lol looks like the tunnel on the Exoplanet map
I'm not a gamer, so I'll have to take your word for that.
What a wonderful place. Cool history.
It was a really fun place to visit.
Very impressive... I'll definitely have to add this to our list of things to do next time we're in Ohio! Thanks for sharing!
Great video! I wonder what largish mammals wander there when there are fewer people about.
I'm not sure, but I suspect all the same sorts of things we have in northern Michigan: Deer, bear, rabbits, raccoons, porcupines, skunks, etc.
Although i support that other Michigan school i was proud to see you "rocking" the M in that other state.
I couldn't help myself. That and I don't own a lot of other T-shirts.
Dude you need an OHIO shirt when you’re in the Ohio-lands!!!!
Uh, no. I don't ever need one of those.
WOWOWOW~! That place is stunning....thank you for the trip~ AND...you sure got your future rock picking partner right there~ He is into rocks~ BIG TIME!
David and I can't wait to take him out rock hunting. I think it's going to be a year or two though.
@@MichiganRocks Definitely...but look out. That boy is gonna take over the family business! :D
Are there any caverns or sinkholes in that area? I believe I heard you say the rock is sandstone so not karst topography, correct?
Karst topography is limestone as far as I know. One of the webpages I read said that Rock House was the only true cave. The other things that were called caves were more like overhanging cliffs.
😂 very underatted , i wonder why its not nationally or internationally recognized
I can't believe I had never heard of it until my wife suggested that we go there.
What a cute adorable baby he going to be very smart like his grandpop.
We sure do love him.
Just truly beautiful %100 approved by sam
Who is Sam?
great family trip looked like everybody had fun
We did have fun!
At 4:16 it looks like your son is standing under the starship enterprise at 10:50 looks like a sleeping t-rex
I felt like we were in Jurassic Park sometimes, so a T-Rex would fit right in.
Well you sure do live in a beautiful area. I have to admit that when I think of Ohio, I picture northern Ohio which looks a lot like southern Michigan, kind of flat. I now have a whole new appreciation for Ohio.
@@MichiganRocks thank you and yep southeastern Ohio is quite a bit different than northern Ohio. I grew up down here but have a lot of family also up in the Toledo and Cleveland areas.
