  • Just in case you needed a detailed assembly video, I also noted the size and location of the shims that were in mine! Thanks for watching!

    Great video. Thank you. I just took mine apart because it was making a noise. I found a broken c clip inside. I would have liked to see you put the grease in.

      I’m glad you found it helpful! Based on the couple of comments I’ve gotten on this video, I’ll include adding the grease in any future videos!

    To tighten the slipper clutch I use one of my old nylon dog collars. I wrap it around the gear and pinch the collar tight with some channel lock pliers. That allows me to hold the gear tight without any fear of damaging it.

    The Scx10 and 6 are just about the same in build wise. So I think the instructions are the same just scaled up. The shims were added after testing and not added to the manual.

    Great informative video. I'm gonna need it since I just got my SCX6 Jeep today. It is making a slight clicking noise in the transmission (maybe the drive shafts?) along with the gear whine. I'm not sure if it is normal. Gonna take a look using this video for reference and add marine grease from my RC Jetstream boat. My last RC car was 35 years ago or so.

      Glad it was helpful! I definitely recommend some marine grease in there! I haven’t had any clicking issues from this transmission but i filled it with marine grease before I even drove it. I’d also recommend some sealed bearings through out the whole truck, the stock ones seized up super quick running it in water. Fast Eddie makes a nice set for the 6. Best of luck!

      @@billetrc8576 It worked out great. It was easy to remove and take off the shift servo side of the tranny. Gears were fine. Not much of the OEM sticky grease in there so I filled it with marine grease. I added a sound effects module using the extra channels on my DX5r. Mixed aux2 channel with the throttle in the DX5r so it revs with the throttle or when I click the button.

    Great build vid but why did you build the whole thing with not a drop of grease unless you did it just to keep a clean build for the vid??

      Thanks! I left the grease out just to be able to see inside better. I mentioned in the video I was going to add it off camera. I didn’t figure anyone wanted to see that mess.🤣

    Watched the whole video just to see how you take apart and grease the tranny and got bummed as you said you’re going to do it “Off Camera” close to the end of the video. 😂

    it seems to me like the pins aren't a great tech approach if you want this trans to be bulllet proof? I mean great to step up to 6 or even 8mm shafts that the steel 32 pitch gears ride on but then drill a 2mm pin hole in the shaft? Effectively reduce the size and strength of the entire shaft down to that single weakended point where there is a theoretically large hole in it? Any concerns? Seems like alot of work to repair if there are failures etc. Use of a spline in place of the pin would have been higher-end tech if you ask me. I mean its a $1000+ rc car and even the 1980's CLODBUSTER upgrade gears use splines instead of pins when they released the 32 metal upgrade gear sets --- Axial didn't get the memo? It just takes 1 pin weak poin to constantly be the failure point --- 1 spline is all they have to come up with. Weird to me. Guess it must not be an issue just seems odd the pin system sheers and fails even when the shaft holds up in extreme duty situations. I guess something's gotta go. Everything elese looks super beefy!!

    • @billetrc8576
      @billetrc8576  5 місяців тому

      I’m not sure why they leave pins in these deigns other than controlling where the weak point is, I guess it’s cheaper to fix a pin than 6 gears. I haven’t had a single issue with this transmission so far so I can’t complain about it at all.

      @@billetrc8576 - cool - from what i've seen the trans is solid - 32p gears are beefy, especially in steel. Saw the weak point was ring and pinion in the axle - prolly alot easier to fix that, and cheaper. but annoying too though - saw someone strip theirs on basic rock crawling on 3s lipo of all power sources -- seems WEAK. Forget about 8s w/out big $ upgrades.

    • @billetrc8576
      @billetrc8576  5 місяців тому

      From my experience if the ring and pinion are shimmed correctly even those aren’t an issue, I’ve yet to break one. They should be shimmed from the factory though in my opinion. I have seen quite a few people break them online. Maybe I’m just too easy on mine 🤣

      NIce - so maybe its just a lashing/mesh issue @@billetrc8576
