Bc rabbits could possibly eat their babies when stressed.
To everyone that doesn't know, the placenta is the sac where the babies are inside the doe(adult female rabbit). She eventually eats the placenta and cleans up the baby rabbit. This behavior comes from really old times, when the rabbits weren't domesticated yet. The mothers do this so no blood or scents are left and a predator would eat her and the babies

You're thinking of the amniotic sac. Babies aren't inside the placenta., They're attached to it via the umbilical cord and the placenta is attached to the wall of the uterus to transfer blood and nutrients

@@MegaSusana1979 actually, if she is stressed, malnourished or a predator is coming for the babies the mother will eat them.
It is to give her the nutrients.
Especially with a predator, when U comes down to natural instincts it's best for the mom to get the nutrients to get away other then the predator getting the nutrients and going after her.

One of my mom's friends just came to our house and left 2 rabbits at our front door. We were so shocked because we have never had rabbits so we were so confused. Then, they texted us saying it was a male and female that are going to have bunnies. My mom was upset that one of her friends would just drop off rabbits. I would love to rescue a bunny someday! I'm not allowed to have pets that walk around the house (like a cat or dog) and I've heard its body for bunnies to free roam so I wont get one right now, but I do rescue small cage animals (rats, guinea pigs, and hamsters)

It is actually the case that if the mom Rabbit has disabled or sickly babies that will not survive- she will re-Ingest( eat) them as they would not be able to survive in the wild. I don’t know all the information about that but it is true. It sounds terrible but there are reasons for it we don’t always understand because no one does research on bunnies because there is no $$$ in Rabbit research! 😩😭.toobad!!!

I’ve worked at an animal shelter for 2 years and I once came across a mom rabbit have babies in her litter box. She made a nest with her fur and there were maybe 5-6 buns. They jump around even being newborns. It’s super cute. I’ve also seen a few days old wild rabbits that were dropped off at the shelter. They had all of their fur but their eyes weren’t opened yet and he jumped around too. I agree, it is super beautiful to witness these new lives.

Who else think Lorelai should make a rabbit forum so people can talk about their rabbits, ask questions, share pictures, and help share info and advocate for rabbits. There are a few sites for this but they're old, not active, and slow.

i just adopted my second rabbit three days ago. Your videos were so helpful in helping me learn how to take care of rabbits the best way I could, thank you so much!
Our little girl had to wait to be spayed, because her heart was too slow and they didn't want to risk her heart slowing down too far under anesthetic. While waiting, she had a phantom pregnancy. She started tearing her fur out and making a nest on our bed. It scared us something shocking. We thought there was something wrong. Luckily she was fine and she's all good now.
I can relate to this. Even my buns start preparing nests for nothing. They keep freaked out for a day, and calm down automatically the next day 😃
My female bunny did the same thing a week before we got her spayed. It was scary to watch her pull her fur out and she wouldn’t eat for about a day and a half because she was busy putting her hay in the nest.
I am so glad the owners did not dump Narnia and made sure she was looked after ❤️ you can tell they wanted the best for her XX

I’m so glad this happened to occur while you were there so we can all learn the process of rabbit birth and also the importance of spaying/neutering bc now all these bunnies need homes. I feel like God waited to start Narnias birth to put you guys together (you, Vicki, and Narnia) to share this exact moment with the world.
I'm adopting a loinhead rabbit on Friday, she is three years old and was used to breed and they don't want her now, so I am getting her so she doesn't have to breed again x

As an owner who was uneducated and believed the rescue that I had 2 females that ended up with 8 babies it makes me mad they didn’t take responsibility. Once I figured out my girl was pregnant I did so much research, I watched so many videos, I found the homes myself and made sure the babies were not only sexed but then separated. I’m glad you made this video, I hope it educated more bunny mom and dads so they can avoid these situations !

I just wanted to say that a bunny gets extremely stressed being watched while giving birth and they purposefully make their nest in a dark spot because it makes them less stressed . Btw lorelei I love your channel and have learnt all the perfect bunny care for my bunnies from your channel :)
Absolutely beautiful to watch! Through our rescue work we've had a number of does that were pregnant and gave birth, but have never had the opportunity to watch.. Vicky is absolutely correct in her assessment of this situation.. "Time & money!" - Each of these beautiful creatures will need to be sterilised before being re-homed, so both my wife and I are dead against breeders.. Lorelei is my favorite bunny youtuber. I myself love rabbits and actually have a rabbit named Molly. Her mother was a lionhead who sadly passed away of old age. This video reminds of the day Molly's mother, Ebony gave birth to her. :)
In our country we celebrate a festival called diwali. In this festival people burst a lots of crackers. Some of those crackers are so loud that sometimes I too get scared. I am about to adopt a bunny after a few days. So I want to take care that nothing makes my rabbit panic. So it's my sincere request to you that please make a video of how to calm your rabbit during fireworks. Plzzz.....plzzz....do it for me.
We had a lot of fireworks going on around our house recently as well. To calm our bunny, we turned on a fan so that there was a constant noise to drown out the sound of the fireworks. We also put a few blankets on our bed for him to burrow in and that helped him to feel safer. The best thing you can do is stroke them and make them feel secure. I hope this helped 😁
Give them a hidey spot they feel safe in. You can also hold the bunny like a baby (on its back) if it likes that, and cover its eyes! Bunnies relax when they can't see
we often fear that our bunnies will panic and have heart attacks ; but you can avoid those by free-roaming your bun. That way they are energetic and healthy, and as they can chose their hiding place, they feel much more safer :)
Brooke John Just want to clarify, this almost sounds like trancing, which is really dangerous for buns. There are a lot of articles that have come out pretty recently about how trancing is basically putting a rabbit into “play-dead” mode, and while they appear calm they are essentially preparing for death. It can cause rabbits to have heart attacks. Not against holding a rabbit if they accept that (mine is a diva and refuses to be held!) just want to make sure it’s done in a trauma-free way!

Some years ago, I took in a rescue bunny who was pregnant, but you wouldn't have known it if she wasn't nesting. They tend to carry light. They're super great at building nests in awkward places, and will even go to great lengths to plug up the nest with bedding or whatever soft materials they can find in order to protect it while they're away.
Lorelei, you should make an update on the baby bunnies in a couple months! If you want😄

If she was a first-time mommy (and it seemed likely she was), that’s likely why. In the animal world, the mothers kind of learn by practice and seem to get better at it as they have more and more pregnancies. Fortunately, though, Narnia won’t be having any more babies, so we’ll never know with her.

I have a lion head bunny named Whinny. She came to me by happenstance. I was only going to foster her until her owners, whose house sold before they had a new place, could move into a permanent new home and take her back. Turns out, it took a little over a year so they gave me the option of keeping her since we had bonded so well. Of course, I was so in love with her by then, I kept her. Her journey started when she was found abandoned in a park. She has had nothing but love since then. I wish every single bunny could be that fortunate. ❣️🐇

My albino rabbit that was barely 1 month old
She got injured badly and died 2 or 1 day after she got injured , it was my fault to pull her out of where she was sitting , after i tried to pull her out , she got injured and screamed 2 times , she couldnt walk anymore and eventually died , RIP Snowflake , I'll miss your little mouth baby , Sleep well 😭 and now i have 1 rabbit left , What is wrong with me
