- Strong winds made for phenomenal conditions for our 2nd day our 2023 trip. 30-40mph steady winds reset the dunes over and over all day. The Raptor finally said no more and threw an engine code for the throttle position sensor so at least we had more of a diagnosis. After that we had an epic group ride with Duneman and some followers and fellow creators! This video features the best dune riding I've ever experienced at Little Sahara.

It's amazing to see how well OEM shocks respond in this era. They've come a long way from the early days. 😅
define early days. Back in the 70's suspension on motorcycles was pretty bad.
@Stan_in_Shelton_WA man, do you remember the stock suspension on the 250Rs, or the pogo sticks that came on the stock TRX450's? I rode alot of the Suzuki 230s that had no rear suspension. 😆

350 Banshee with mods at Imperial Sand Dunes (Glamis) 4 years with a few other locations, never made it to Little Saharah.
You can make a bypass plug for the throttle position sensor and it deletes the system

@@PeteHager the warrior was my first clutch wish i never traded it back when i was 17 im 30 now had aleast 8 different wheelers/dirtbikes sence than currently own a 2001 400ex and love it

There is a fan relay that is keeping your fan from coming on. The fuel is vapor locking. When the cut out happens take off the fuel cap and see if it has pressure? Mine bubbled the fuel at a listen.

Well, now that the raptors having some issues and your selling the 450 you outta start showing the 400 some love, especially with sabo getting that z400 it would be cool to see yall have a quad wars with it being just a 400 shoot out or something like that. Idk. I just want to see more of your 400 and what's going on with it, man. Have an early merry Christmas!

Great video Pete - question for you - if given the opportunity to ride a Banshee if it was built for all around performance like your Raptor would you ride one of those? Or do you prefer the 4 stroke power band?
I would definitely be interested! I want to have some experiences on a fairly stock banshee first and then see how big of a difference most modifications will make. Essentially a build for all around riding that wouldn’t require a ton of horsepower 😅
@@PeteHager I’m riding a Banshee now, mostly on public state trails, and it’s a blast for the first hour. Then I’m exhausted and it’s difficult to ride calmly. The engine just wants to be revved constantly. I’ve been considering trading it for a Raptor for that reason. I’ll be curious to hear your thoughts when you get that chance to get seat time on a stock Banshee!
@@PeteHager banshees are so fun in the dunes, even mostly stock get some good suspension and some toomeys, and they do great 👍
@eviltwinstephen8367 I can imagine the Banshee is quite a bit work over a days ride. I've always said if I could only have one machine it would be the Raptor because they're so easy to ride and very low maintenance. Maybe you can get some seat time on one before you sell your Banshee.👍
Pete your fuel filter!!! My 450 did the same thing when the filter clogged and the pump went out change pump motor and filter I guarantee your problem is there
You know for as many raptor 700 units they sell . Why is it the dealership never have parts ?
I was told there’s rarely issues with the TPS and that’s why they’re not stocked commonly. However I do agree with you that the best selling sport quad of all time should have more OEM stuff available at dealerships 😅

Mike Sabo lives in southeast PA so he has some NEPA riding on his channel although he doesn't upload a lot of riding vids.

Yep. They’re a great all around tire. It is nice to have taller clearance in the front at the dunes so I would recommend a 22inch front if you can source them 👍

@@PeteHageryou should do a full build banshee drag bike since you want 2 stroke.If you decide to invest back into the 450yfz it would be awsome to see the process of you turning it into a drag bike.
Pete I have a question for how long have you had the raptor 700 I mean I saw one of your videos and it was ten years ago and it said raptor so I am curious
Curious as to if the TPS was bad or just out of spec? Most of the time they just vibrate themselves out of spec. I find it rare that the tps breaks.
Thanks for the insight! That's what my mechanic said as well. Thankfully it ran great the next day after we unplugged it and plugged it back in😅
@@PeteHager yea that to me sounds like an out of spec TPS. It doesn't take much wiggle to move it out of spec. Easy to fix tho. Just make a test plug kit or buy one and check it. I always keep one in the box just in case.

I know I’m not Pete, but I am the one with the blue Raptor and I have been very happy with the work Kevin did on my Raptor shocks. If you give him a call he will let you know all the options and how much they are going to cost.
I've heard great things about Kevin and his customer service. I spoke with him once many years ago and he was very easy to talk to regarding set up. I want to say his packages are more affordable than most builders so I'm not sure if that reflects the caliber of the upgrades. I decided to work with Rocket Ron after being shown his work on Michael Sabo's channel. Ron builds the shocks for tons of riders that race XC and since I'm on the more aggressive side of free riding I figured he would be more than capable of dialing in my Raptor for my riding style. I've had a lot of positive comments from friends who've ridden my Raptor that have all been really impressed with the ride quality. Ron was super helpful with helping me during my install and ride height adjustments. I know Kevin also has a great rep for helping his customers through set up as well 👍

It was in the 60's the last two days of our trip. That was mid October. It was pretty epic aside from the sand in the air constantly but without the wind we wouldn't of had untracked dunes so it was more than worth it 😬

The head is built in preparation for a bigger bottom end someday. It makes about 60 at the tires. It’s fun in the sand and of course you can always use more power but for dirt riding it’s actually a bit overkill at times since it can struggle to hook up.
