I noticed that too. It seemed like Lars was playing too fast and everyone else sped up to keep time, then Lars sped up some more.

Yeah I mean the past years but there prime was late 80s early 90s
Saw them in ‘94, saw them last Friday in Cleveland. Neither were ‘89, but last Friday was a MUCH better show. Part of that is arena vs. Ampitheater, but I’m telling you, they were ridiculous. The show was 2 straight hours of intensity. I was blown away.
Aside, if you don’t think James on Phantom Lord now isn’t better than ‘83-‘89 you might not be listening.
They must have read the comment sections on UA-cam lol. They sound way better than they have in about 10-15 years .

The performance's from the start of 2019 have sounded so good! James voice is on point right now.
mayhem we saw them Friday. I’m telling you...I saw them in 94 and they were 10x better Friday than they were in 94. I thought I was transported back in time. It was so intense, so tight, so vocally powerful, Kirk was stinking ON POINT. It was amazing.

For the verses at the very least, SOMEBODY, I'm not saying who, was off. the guitars/bass were all on time with each-other so I'm going to say Lars (most likely). There was syncopation that doesn't exist in the studio version. Lars started slow so it ended up being on, but off time.
I hope James is growing his hair back out, if he keeps the moustache we'll have classic Hetfield back!!
He's got a huge bald spot keeping it short makes it less obvious.

True he could do a comb over like Kirk or just wear a beanie like Lars. It's much simpler to just get a hair cut when time catches up to you.

I was at this show, it was awesome! I didn't look up the setlist before the show, so every song was a surprise to me, to hear these two songs and The Unforgiven live in person for the first time was a dream come true!

I was at this concert. Below 0 degree temperatures. I made the 2 hr trip from Columbus at the last second to watch them. Was so worth it since they pulled out this old gem!

I think Dave Mustaine wrote the middle part and thats why they don't play it.
It's just because slows down the song. Or just to short the setlist. They do It with several songs, nothing to do with mustaine.

Well they played the middle section in 2011 during the 30th anniversary with Dave Mustaine on stage.
@@redfirefox3568 On those shows, they played all the songs in the way they were recorded, i think. They played the middle section in Orion Festival 2013 too because of the 30 years of KEA. I don't know other shows where they did that.

Sean Hansberry the NFL caters to the fans that primarily listen to pop and hip hop. They wouldn’t even know how to appreciate a great Metallica show. Why is it so important to see them at the Super Bowl, so they can play a pre-recorded concert like the chili peppers?! Metallica has nothing left to prove, hence the NFL not being worthy of Metallica.
I'm Australian & from what I can see, the NFL only want mainstream performers to play at the Superbowl to cater to the masses. So no, no bands even remotely metal or hard rock will get a look in. Which is a shame.

This was my first time getting to see you guys. Been a fan for 25 years. And I'm happy to have gotten the chance to be right up against the rails on the floor. Amazing show. And I even caught the pick you throw out @3:40. Worth every penny and every minute standing in the cold for the doors to open.
