What are you talking about? I was just asking him to show me around a few different places if I traveled to the UK. If he wanted some money for gas or just the time spent travelling, I would gladly pay. Not sure what you are implying
+Josh Amner I'm glad they help you out :) always check the description for more information on my locations :) many thanks for watching and your support :)
Hi there, thank you for yet another entertaining and informative video. I have been following on UA-cam for some time, you really have been to some amazing places! One of the things I really admire about your channel, is that you are always professional, and in particular there is never any bad language. Some of the company you keep with other explorers make frequent use of expletives which to me detracts from what would otherwise have been a good presentation. At 76 years old, and in the latter stages of prostate cancer, I must say a very big thank you to you all for the pleasure you have given me, and I hope will continue to give me over the years. Regretfully I'm not in a position to make a material contribution towards the costs of your productions, all I can offer is a sincere appreciation of your excellent work, thank you. Kindest of regards, Peter
I don't blame you for sketching out on that thing man, the height is bad enough, let alone the poor condition of the structure. I climbed the old Pilot Station in Folkestone the summer before last, shortly before it's demolition, a very similar experience.
dam that footage looking crispy! very nice. The image stabilization on the 5d is superb. You got me salivating for more that looks like so much fun. Other than those stairs the structure looks sound enough. Noway in hell id go up with more than 3 or 4 people though.
Excellent vid we stayed on the south coast in the summer I live in Teesside in the North East and hadn't seen the napoleonic forts in Portsmouth before but find them so fascinating so being able to walk up to one at low tide is great I may have to take a look next year when we're down that way again thanks for filming it for us all.
Nice Video, great to see it again! I visited this site back in 2007 with some fellow explorers, one of which you probably know! Excellent drone/camera shots, keep up the good work :D
A good enjoyable series of videos of Grain Tower recommended by my brother. They brought back memories from the 1950's and 60's. No ladder for access in those days but a scramble up onto the first level of the accommodation block then easy climb up the stairs, across to the original part of the tower and up the stairs of the observation tower to the top. I don't recall that there was any access then into the body of the Martello Tower. No graffiti to speak of and the general condition was pretty good then with stairs, walkways and railings all OK. I also don't recall the metal tank wedged between the accommodation block and the Martello Tower but it may have been there then. The stone causeway was in better condition but now appears to be settling into the mud. There was a series of quite large, possibly wooden, structures running out to the tower to the north of the stone causeway and parallel to it from a small concrete jetty on the shoreline. I think I can see the jetty on Google Earth. The structures may have supported electricity and water supplies and possibly a roadway. If such features existed then they were removed before mid 1953. An additional feature on the shoreline just a bit further north was a tall, gaunt, dark grey concrete observation tower perhaps 40-50 foot high to which I never gained access but my brother recalls seeing people accessing it. I don't think that I have any photographs dating from then, hardly anyone had a camera, so I have drawn some rough sketches from memory of this area and of Grain Fort just out of interest.
i worked on church towers 330ft high and walked where not everyone dared to, but if heights ain't your thing then it is brave to gone as far as you went.
Don't blame you with the heights, the height is bad enough...let alone with the lack of balustrades and buckling stairs.....I'd be the exact same!! Good video as always, looking forward to Part 2 next week!!
Hi guys. Great video. Does anyone have any idea of exactly how low the tide needs to be relative to sea level to get across the causeway? I'm looking at the tide tables and just trying to work out the timings. Thanks.
The window company who were particularly active in the 1930s when art deco was the up and coming style were/are Crittal. They had a massive site in the east of England and built a whole town for their workers to live in. Can`t see that happening these days.
The Victorians truly built things to last. The battery tower still looks impregnable. Even the 1855 marking shows they took pride in what they did. The 19th century WW2 addition is almost a hundred years younger yet is crumbling away.
That metal box as you called it ,is actually the WW2 water tank that was blown off its mounts in 1987 by the infamous "It's not a Hurricane" Mr Fish take note. We examined this whole fort in 1978 for the perpose of recording it's state of decay and with a request by a third party Into using it for habitation.
places like this should be rebuilt and turned into a historical monument and allow people to visit it and learn history about what happened there and what it would have looked like
Went night-fishing there, around about 1974 as a kid. A little unnerving to say the least, cut off by the tide and in the dark. The huge chain around the tower was supposedly used to support a anti-sub boom or something. The ladder is handy. Bit of a climb to one of the lower level openings all those years ago.
you my sir definitely need to be on HBO or discovery Channel making videos exploring all the battle ground,Forts, historical military points of interests everywhere anywhere dude my God I've been binge watching your videos and let me tell you your gifted and God bless on showing and giving a lil history into the places you visit you give us a different outlook into somtheing that's going back to nature and many won't ever get to see in person I thank you sir and look forward to more vids to come
These sea forts are so freaking cool. If I come to the UK, you will have to give me a tour of some of these places IKS. :)
What are you talking about? I was just asking him to show me around a few different places if I traveled to the UK. If he wanted some money for gas or just the time spent travelling, I would gladly pay. Not sure what you are implying
