the brickwork is superb, imagine the effort required to lay all those bricks, the planning and detail required to decide where the tunnels go, the hard work needed to get those bricks down there, the actual mortar mixing must have been a task on its own, i doubt there is any brickies around to day capable of doing this, i am in awe of the men who could do this.
My family live here I'm from Gravesend I love grain love exploring been on the fort all round it even to the top and the tunnels been in them to really interesting love it thanks folks brilliant
At 5.26 the hole in the wall is possible to climb thorough but is a very very tight gap I haven't been back there since 2016 so I dont know if it had collapsed more but there was a llot more of the tunnel accessible
is this weather like it now that warm?? here in hamburg it freezing still. tje isle of grain has the outline of a starfort on google earth. the place looks like a tipping ground to cover up what is underneath same mo as every ancient site all of over the world!!
So each caponier had its own drawbridge, in case the attackers gained entrance to them? Big fort, much bigger in area than say, coalhouse? Crying shame it was intensionally destroyed as late as the 60's, same was done to Shornmeade fort.
