Oioiiii Squelch Squad! Really hope you enjoy this one, something a bit different - we certainly had fun exploring and learning about this tower! Remember to smash ye olde like button if you enjoyed the video and we will catch you in our more usual muddy habitat next week! J+A x
I really enjoyed this one guys. I also love watching videos of abandoned buildings and explore here in Australia 🇦🇺. Happy Easter to you and your family x
It was an amazing site… I was a little apprehensive when I saw two people walking out ahead of you. Did you meet up with them but not put it in the video? You got two strong finds. Can’t wait to see what you do next! The blanks between action shots got filled with commercials. Whatever you do will be an adventure for all of us.
Thank you for this very cool video. Fantastic views and so much history. You two are so brave while investigating this old building. I enjoyed this different type video. 👍👏🎉🥰🐕🇺🇸
Love this weeks video, more urban exploring, please, as well as the glorious mudlarking - have become addicted to Martin Zero, I keep expecting to see the Manchester Mudlarks pop up in his vids, lol. Gail and Alex said the clay pipes can put your teeth on edge - perhaps pusskin knows lol. Glad you're all well again, you've got lovely Spring & Summer ahead of you for adventures xxx ❤️❤️❤️
I really liked this adventure out. I would not have ever seen the tower but now I can say I’ve seen it. I could get used to adventures like this but I do miss HARVEST 🌾🍁time! Stay safe and a big hello to mudlark mum. 🌹
Hello 👋 from New York USA I absolutely loved exploring the Castle 🏰 and Learning the History with the both of you Thank you for bringing me along with you guy's I can't wait to see what you guy's find next 😀 😊
I was soo glad to see you arrive safely at the bottom of the Martello Tower.I’m not a great friend of heights at the best of times,so when you were both dancing and jumping about up at the top,my heart was in my mouth. Delighted to watch you get back to paddling in the mud.!!!!. As always, sent with love. xxxxxxx
OiOiii Mudlarks! Thanks for taking us on this lovely adventure - really interesting to see this old structure - very interesting to see that the oldest part is in better condition than the newest bits! Take care - see you next week I hope - and I didn't know you did wood crafts too!?
When they speak of smooth bore guns, they are speaking of the inside surface of the gun. In early guns that surface was smooth. Apparently when they replaced the guns, the new guns had was rifling. This is a surface that has a spiral grove running up the barrel. What this does is cause the ammunition to spin, so it's sin was more precise and accurate. Smooth bores were less accurate.
I have been watching you two for a while now and I have to say I am envious of the relationship you have with each other. In this video I think viewers can really feel the bond you all have. Love it. It's something very special.
Oioi muddies Fantastic explore would be great to do a camp out on the tower. Favourite item this week the mug of tea or coffee in front of you 😀 Catchall later
A massive thanks for the tour of the Grain tower. Was exciting and with beautiful scenery. Did miss you. I thought it might have been the stormy weather. Glad you all are better. Awesome vid.
Let's see..... shrapnel or Hero. I cannot choose a favorite! That was a very interesting episode. Kind of creepy as well, if I might say so but super interesting. As always, I wait on pins and needles for your every episode. Thanks so much for sharing your hobby with us ❤
Great urban explore. Thanks for taking us along. There are some old missile silos here in New Mexico dating from the Cold War-1960’s. Exciting to explore. Wonderful job of showing us around:)
Wonderful adventure...always a curious. Can't wait for the new videos...go team...I just love the kitty...thank you, loves for taking us with you...so much fun. Stay safe and healthy. I went out in a squall and had to be rescued about 20 feet from the entrance...I was the flying Wallendez who could only flop. Strange days for a 97 pound senior to find myself in...lol...have fun Waundering Mudpies!!!
Oh boy, the height did get to me, I must admit. Thinking about the soldiers running up and down those makes me shudder. Brave men all! Thanks for the history, and love your kitty.
Thank you Mary, higher than we thought!!! I cannot imagine how scary it would be to be in the tower with planes flying in over head during the blitz. 😀
Hi, the range of history is very interesting, I'm imagining the Martello was built with the use of horse drawn wagons and barges at high tide (all those granite blocks!) then I guess later construction would have used motorised transport. People and goods all up and down that walkway for a hundred years! Thank you for the interesting tour and view from the top, rather you then me. Glad you have all recovered and are bouncing back for more adventures, looking forward to what the next video brings. Take care and stay safe, cheers xx

Do you see it? An onion bottle protruding from the mud ... Green, from the looks of it ... Have it retrieved at once!”

Love the new content! Some of that street art in the tower is pretty cool! y'all be careful, that place is a safety nightmare. Part of me would love to spend the night in a place like that, the other part of me is sure I wouldn't survive til the morning 😂. Thanks again from across that muddy pond.
This was beautifully put together! The photos, clips of scenery, the music, the history - everything was perfect! Thanks for taking us with you Mudpies ❤️
Hello Friends, so good to see you again. Glad you are healthy once more. The gun tower was amazing with a fantastic view. Congratulations on the shrapnel. Greetings from North Carolina U.S.A.
We watched this last nite on our TV. Thought I would pop on now on my IPad so I could comment. I love your videos and this one was no exception. I have seen other videos of this Tower of Grain but you really showed it in all its proud glory. Thank you for continuing to entertain with these wonderful adventures. It also warms my heart to see the beautiful father/ daughter relationship the two of you have. In my reality it is extremely rare. ❤️😘
Hello Tom, I read a few comments about the Endicott system and am going to google them next. The Martello tower at it's heart is a seriously solid structure. Take care and thankyou for your comment 😀
What an awesome adventure, and despite my vertigo I thoroughly enjoyed it.😁 My daughter lives on sheppey so I might get to see some of this first hand in the summer . You were both pretty brave climbing that tower I didn't like the look of that ladder as it barely reached the platform, yikes scary stuff , I would love to see more of this content. Thanks for another wonderful video, much love to you both and good luck in your future adventures 👍😘
Thanks for the historic tour. I could picture a military person looking out the window smoking a clay pipe. Maybe not if there was a lot of ordinance. 😊
I hope the family is feeling better. Missed you guys. But glad you put your health first! This latest video was epic. Exciting to follow you out and then lovely strolling around with you both. Thank you so much!
I'm always amazed that you guys in Britain have access to all these amazing abandoned places. Here in Australia they would have erected huge barbed wire fences around something like this tower. One thing we're great at in Australia is building fences. I loved your musical interlude sequence at 9:22. Fantastic little adventure Mudpies.
So glad you are feeling better! Great explore, its always fascinating to see old buildings. What a teriffic history behind this one also! Thank you for taking us along! Michigan fan 🐦🌷🇺🇸
A still frame of Andy at 9:41 & you Josie at 9:50 are Epic. I enjoyed y'alls enthusiasm to explore & tell the History. Too bad some of the shipwrecks you have no tale for. Yet, we get this Awesome exploration of time gone by. I must also say i found it pleasing that you did not basically pay attention to the mischevious willy's & other miscreant markings. Other than to utter the obvious of someone mindless pushing over the water tank. Bravo, Stay Safe & Ty for taking us along
Thanks Richard, we enjoyed doing something a bit different and trying to capture some more artistic content. Less said the better about some of the awful graffiti. Take care and see you next video 😀

It would be fun to take camping gear for a day or two in the tower. Nicola White did that in one of her past videos and she loved it! Glad you both are well! 🥰
Really enjoyed the walk through the tower, history is amazing. That tower looks like it could last forever another testament to the fine work they did in those days.Thankyou so much for the walk through the mud.Be safe!!!
Loved this exploration video! 'ello, Jaffs! She was like, what is this dry old bone you're passing orf as treats 'ere? I dunno why she's Cornish in my head... that's just the way it came out 😆 🤣 Cheers, guys
It is always grand to have a CAT SCAN done! I had to put my little feral kitty down that I had adopted in October, she finally had a winter in a warm home and a warm lap always waitting for her. I took her in because she was suffering from Pneumonia, whe was healthy for a couple of months until she got it again but the underlying issues of the pneumonia was Feline Autoimmune disease. I miss her warm silky little warm body on my lap.... oh gosh I brought myself to tears because of your precious baby. Nicola had taken us to the Tower of Grain a few years ago, I think it is so amazing but the graffitti always sets me off, people who destroy history just makes me want to give them a toothbrush and tell them to clean it all off! LOL Yes I was that kind of Mum lol. It is so sad how it has deteroated when up cloase but far away it is so amazing standing against the blue sky. I greatly loved the tour of the "facilities". Thank you for a grand time. God Bless and much love
Great explore of Grain tower, thanks very much, wonder if the piece of shrapnel came from the towers guns !! Great news is l have both a 6 & 8oz complete Hero Codd bottles. Looking forward to the next one. Happy hunting 😀
Wow...what an unusual space...so full of a very mysterious but peaceful atmosphere. I love to roam places like that. Here in NJ we have old gun turrets and places that were guarding our harbors. I used to ride my bike out there and just try to imagine war and the extreme military mind set. Yours is a labyrinthine place...stupendous video!
Josie and Andy, What an enormously well built emplacement, let's turn it into a Nature building, fix it up, have hovercraft tours and history plaques like Tower Bridge Cheers, Rik .
Hey mudpies, the video was really interesting but I had to keep turning away as I get vertigo. My stomach was lurching every time the camera pointed over the edge of the stairs!😂😂😂😂 You know I love your adventures! Keep up the good work.🍻
Very nice combination of larking and exploring, really interesting video with such a beautiful area. Shame a lot of the treasure was broken this time... Well done anyway and catch you on the next one!
That was great to see the bunker . Thanks for sharing your video with us all. Your friend Shirley from new Bern, north Carolina USA. Stay safe and well 🙏❤️🩹❤🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😊
Love the explore today very interesting. I can’t get out and about any more so was fun exploring with the Mudpies! Would love if you would do more exploring!❤️
Same here Sherry Crane. Got too many health problems. When I was younger I did enjoy larking about. Took my son and he always found more than I did. He passed away on August 15 2020. I still have his favorite finds. Take care of yourself.
@@peggyreid6836 So sorry for your loss. I watch a lot of the mudlarking channels. It’s so much fun to see everyone get excited over a pipe or a fragment of pottery. I watch different ones every day. They are my way of exploring and never leaving the house! 💞God Bless you!❤️
It is great to see you guys are well. Thank you for all your hardwork and each new video you upload. I look forward to the next. God bless you all 🙏🏻 Lee 49 years East London.
I’m not feeling well the past couple weeks either so I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. Your video today was great. I like visiting the historical sites. You can do more visits but I love the mudlarking the best! Please be safe and be careful! ❤️❤️
little bit of trivia... winding staircases are usually turning clockwise up and anti-clockwise down, so possible defenders can use their right hand to fight of attackers, while attackers can't get full reach of their right arm fighting upwards the staircase.
Thanks vic! Super happy with the Codd bottle, shame there wasn’t much else in the mud, but we had an epic explore! You manage any adventures recently? 😀
Where I grew up there were 2 civil war forts built to protect the Bay of Mobile from the Union. Ft. Morgan and Ft. Gaines. Ft Gains is on an Island. There was an natural freshwater spring that produced fresh water and at night you could light it and burn the natural gas. But alas, the drilling of oil has stopped the spring and the natural flame. This tower as well as Hoo and Darnell remind me of home. Where I live now, we have numerous forts from the Revolutionary War , the French and Indian wars as well as Civil war Batteries that protected the coast much like the tower. I do love the old history. Josie, can you imagine having to run along that staircase and those walkways to man the guns?? At night?? Not me.

The shot of Josie poking her head over the top edge, looked like the land had disappeared. It sure added to the height. Thanks for the adventure.🇨🇦

Think you're right Cate, the granite blocks are enormous and must be so heavy 😀
What a fun change of pace for y’all! And far less mud to clean up after!!
Thanks William! Was great fun to mix things up a bit ☺️

A fascinating tour of the tower! Love hearing about the history of the building! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it
Imagine the exciting scene, a century and a half ago: The tower commander trains his brass telescope seaward, from the highest level:
“Sargent Major ... There ... East south east, 350 yards. Do you see it? An onion bottle protruding from the mud ... Green, from the looks of it ... Have it retrieved at once!”
Loving the urbex. Such a fantastic virtual experience with you guys. The brilliant evocative shots too.

💞God Bless you!❤️
@@sherrycrane7568 again same here. I am subscribed to more Mudlarking channels than all the other channels together. Thank you for your sympathy.
@@sherrycrane7568 Same here in Oz, my way of doing 'armchair travel' as it was called back in the day.
It is great to see you guys are well. Thank you for all your hardwork and each new video you upload. I look forward to the next.
God bless you all 🙏🏻

Hello Lee, thanks for your support! 👍😀
@@Mudpies you're very welcome ☺
I’m not feeling well the past couple weeks either so I am so glad to hear you are feeling better. Your video today was great. I like visiting the historical sites. You can do more visits but I love the mudlarking the best! Please be safe and be careful! ❤️❤️
Hope you feel better soon Mary. Lots of mudlarking and explores to come. Sending positive vibes, 😀❤️
little bit of trivia... winding staircases are usually turning clockwise up and anti-clockwise down, so possible defenders can use their right hand to fight of attackers, while attackers can't get full reach of their right arm fighting upwards the staircase.
That was a really neat tour. I can't climb anymore, I'll live vicariously through you guys. The views were amazing!!!
Please d you enjoyed it Debbie😃👍
I've got some sweaty palms here 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@Mudpies Yes some fossil hunting..
It was a fun video to watch. I am curious about next week. Till then👋
So glad to see you back yaaay!!!
At night?? Not me.
