I would very much like to see this service performed on a complete wheel assembly. I read the response to the other comment, that the method shown here is intended for a complete wheel, but I’d still like to see it. There’s no way I’m unlacing my wheel to do this.
Hi and thank you for your message. As the service itself is absolutely not different if you have a single hub or a complete wheel. So thee is no need to lace out the hub. We decided to offer those videos with the focus on the hub only. It makes the filming itself as well easier, as we can get closer to the details. As well as it makes it more versatile as the different DT Swiss hubs can be used in many different wheel variations. But we will consider for future videos to have complete wheels in the video. Driving these bearings all the way in this way, in DT350 and probably here too, causes the preload to be too high and you need to lightly tap the inner bearing races with a hammer through the axle to unload them. Or else, you are shortening their lifetime. It's much better to use a press.

Most people would change bearings on a complete wheel, where it is hard to find a press with the space to fit a wheel into. As well as it should be clear that you should have some general knowledge about how to handle a bearing, before starting to change bearings on your Bicycle. As an example,I can do such a service with setting the second bearing without the need to unload them afterwards, doing it the way like we show in the video. At least athletes like Nino Schurter, Loic Bruni, .... never complained about the performance of my job. Friso "DT Swiss".
