  • Hey folks,
Today we will take a look at the Winchester Diamond Grade 410 Turkey ammo. We will break it down, pattern it against another 410 load and see how they stack up. I'll be using the Carlson Turkey TSS choke. You'll find a link to it below.
As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. Yep, you get the same components and the same price and I get a small commission if you buy. Every little bit helps when making these videos.

Thank you. It was a privilege to serve. I don't think folks realize the time it takes to put all this very amateur type video together. I couldn't imagine the time to do high end production stuff. Thanks for watching.

Nice job on the testing. Glad to see Bucksnort survived Bless this Mess the crazy tv show lol. I liked the comparison but with everything being said I would say overall with the little 410 your #6 Buffered load definitely would be a 1st choice for me. I have some Winchester rounds coming to play with on paper just like those you tested. 1 or 2 #6 pellets in the right place and the pary is over. Keep up the great videos , so anxious to do some patterning when weather permits and family time allows.

Wow! Thank you!! This was an amazing video. I bought some of these when 410 was out of stock everywhere. It’s just now, slowly coming back in stock. It was saddening to see that the “premium” shell from Winchester is missing 10% of its payload. The shot looked horrible. I would have expected a buffer to help patterning.
Any chance it was covered in resin like the long beard XR?
Your buffered 6s look very promising.
Again, this was a great side by side test of factory/handload and the bonus premium handload.

Thanks for watching. It is sad when you bust one of these "premium" shells open and find ..............well... ugly stuff. The crazy part is the stupid ugly stuff still works great. I swear they are charging us for propellent development...wad development...etc. Cause the shot is not all "shiny and new" as they make it out to be.

Yes sir. 410 3inch is great. I wonder sometimes if we are oversizing our shot sizes for turkey. The smaller pellets go through the feathers and the bigger ones bounce off. I also left a comment on one of your latest videos, which was 3 months ago, i bought 10 boxes of Aguila 28ga 2 3/4" 1oz and i took 5 apart and they all had exactly 1 oz or 1 pellet over 1 oz. The green Magnum wad . Pleasantly surprised.

I see that as well where folks are going bigger than necessary even handicapping themselves by doing so. For example patterning 25yards with #4 lead shot in 12ga and getting a reasonable pattern but that's about it. Where they could benefit from dropping to #6 to get more pattern density, where #6 still kills reliably to just over 40yds

Just curious to see what your experience is with buffering shot in the 410. Have you noticed that it makes all loads pattern tighter? Always appreciate the videos and information and look forward to the next one

Plastic table cover. You might find it at a local craft store... or here at Amazon. As a affiliate I would get a small commission if you purchase it from them. amzn.to/3T215cy

In the 410 choke world, the Carlsons TSS Turkey is a good choke- but not a premium choke. With more effort (and $$) a different choke could probably do a bit better, but you have a very good representation of that load/choke combo.

What would be some choke alternatives? They are pricey...but some do come up on ebay for good prices? I wouldn't mind doing some choke testing with home loaded and factory stuff.

@@bullet225ho The 410 and chokes can be very finicky. I’d try any of the factory Turkey chokes that people automatically bypass for aftermarket chokes. (Rossi/Mossberg SA 410) I purchased a Jebs XFull and it’s pretty good with TSS 9s.
Indian Creek, Jebs, Patternmaster are 3 Premium chokes that TSS shooters like.

@@bullet225ho eBay is a great place to score quality used chokes. I got my Jebs for $55 shipped- if I bought it new it would have been $100 + tax.
Now I can compare that Jebs at 30 yards to your results with those Win 7.5s

Shit there been plenty killed with 410 7.5 6s and 4s I have killed tons of turkey in the fall with 12 guage low brass 1 oz of 7.5s it would flatten em at 25 and 30 yards in the fall woods

    • @bullet225ho
      @bullet225ho  6 місяців тому

I'm sure there have been. I know there are folks that swear by 7.5 in 12ga for turkey.

@@bullet225hoI ran trap loads for 20 years now. If it's within 40yards it never escapes. Nice 20" pattern that's very densely populated with pellets. Not choked too tightn and not too open.
