  • Just my overall first impressions of the XPR7550. Just re housed it today(the other housing was destroyed) so far so good! Let me know if you have any questions or feedback in the comments below.

Do I need a license to use these? Planning to use it for WAVE.

That's a great question Peter! It depends on what your planning to use the radio for. If your planning just to use the radio to just scan channels and not have TX enabled or are planning to transmit on FRS/GMRS frequencies, I don't believe a license is required. If your planning to transmit on ham (amateur bands), or business frequencies, a license is required. I am not very familiar with WAVE. I would certainly consult your local Authorized Motorola Dealer or communications authority as I am not an expert (FCC in the US or IC in Canada).

Sorry for the late reply. The XPR 7550 has the same housing/body as the APX900. The XPR7550 only does analog conventional and MOTOTRBO Digital modes. Whereas the APX900 can do analog conventional, Motorola analog trunking and P25 phsse 1 and phase 2 digital trunking.

@@santinovirtuoso3451 no unfortunately you can't input a frequency manually. It must be programmed by computer
