I'm so envy that listening the public safety channel is legal there! public safety channel is really useful for HAM to measure the signal and make sure that all of your devices are work without any instrument haha. Marry X'mas and Happy new year ! de BX2AIO form Taipei Taiwan. BTW if could send me the little hack about how to make the freq up to 572mhz.
You keep saying "this radio" and I can't tell which is which. You should say the model names through the video and put bullet points in the description.
6550 has four serial numbers for vhf & uhf models transmit range “J” for vhf 136-175mhz “Q” for uhf1 403-470mhz “T” for uhf2 450-512mhz “X” for uhf2 450-527mhz
Thanks for the video. I have the DP3600 (XPR 6550). I use the BNC adapter and the RH77CA antenna, works really well. You mentioned about a Motorola antenna adapter for XPR 7550, do you have the part number or the link to it? I am thinking about getting a XPR7550 (DP4800 in UK).
Thanks for sharing this video, very informative. PLEASE How or Where can I get the nesesary software to program those radios? I've bought a MOTOROLA XPR6550 and I haven't found a way to get the software... I'm a Ham Radio Operator and I want to be able to program it and use it.... but UNFORTUNATELY I can't...it's like I lost my money.... Any HELP would be appreciated 🙏. Thanks in advance! 73s from KJ4BGW
Hi. What is the range of the 7550? I found two of these for sale in classified recently. Can I use this to communicate within the range of a theme park such as Disney?
The 7550 comes in a VHF and UHF version so that would have an impact on range. But what really has an impact is line of sight. With a solid steel wall between the two radios they might only work half a mile or less. With pure line of sight from one mountain top to another you might get 30 or more miles. With a repeater, as they are usually used, the range is pretty much unlimited. I've talked to people around the world using radio over IP on DMR repeaters. Basically I can't say if they would cover Disneyland. I would use cell phones. Sorry I can't give you better answer.
I believe all of "2nd gen" mototrbo radios have Voice announcement. I have my Cp100d (XiR C2620) configured to have voice announcement for every channel. Just make sure the voice file is ".mva"
Hey josh, just bought a motorola XPR7550 and a XPR 6550 both used and i've never used a Motorola radio of this capacity, so how exactly do i go about to have these two radios transmit and receive to each other?
They need to be programmed on the same frequencies. Only program them on frequencies for which you are authorized. If you don't have the software someone from your local Ham club might or you could go to a local commercial radio dealer. They would probably program them for a fee. The software can also be purchased from Motorola.
Hi josh I have a 7550 and have some freq programmed into it but was trying to update -remove some old ones and add some more -but it wont sync -any ideas mike - KB6TVJ
What do you mean it won’t sync? Are you trying to program with a cable or Bluetooth? What error are you getting? Is your current CPS the same or newer than the CPS that was previously used to program the radio?
you must be in the bay area if your PD is on T-Band (480mhz). Be careful if you have it set to Rx only, LEOs can sometimes get paranoid if you pass them with your radio blasting their primary dispatch channel!

What’s the link on how to unlock all UHF on the 6550? You said you would post it and I don’t see it.
I’m looking for it too!

josh bloom thanks for the quick response and thorough answer. Good content as well. 👍🏼
the 7550 should have voice prompts. try that for zone and channels

This sounds kinda stupid, but can you use the XPR-6550 as a scanner? Or is it only for 2-way?
Well, Yes. You would have to make it a receive only channel when you program it in the Mototrbo software/CPS.
hola podria indicarme donde compro la antena latigo del DGP 6150
