I think he can play the San Remo lottery with 10-15 others. He has a better chance than half of those riders BUT to win he either
a) wins like Nibali but is not a demon descender
b) a split on the Poggio descent with an attack from another with him winning a two up sprint (Styvun style).
c) even if he goes up to 69kg he’s highly unlikely to win a group sprint as there will be always be 1-3 people able to generate more total watts even after 6.5 hours on the villa roma.
Agree this year is a good opportunity if he can counter Van Der Poel.
Agree there, too much competition with the race being way too easy for the likes of Pogačar. If he wants to win San Remo&Roubaix. I strongly feel that he has to do that later on in his career. As I believe he needs to sacrifice grand tour ambitions for one or two seasons in order to be able to win it. Going up to the 75kg range with a focus on his sprint.
