Just purchased the towers 807 today cost 280 Thank you for the great tutorial. I really feel comfortable that I made the right decision. Have a great day , Bronx NY
I've been researching these over the last couple days for a home theater system and now here you are going to review them. Awesome!
Just checked, z reviews community posts, the sixth one down had a link for the 807 towers. $169 and free shipping. Grab em
That's astounding
Goddamit Europe
I’m not a sound guy, but I just found your channel and I’m binge watching all your stuff 👌
You prolly dont give a shit but if you are stoned like me atm you can watch all the latest movies on InstaFlixxer. Been binge watching with my girlfriend for the last days xD
@Karter Ameer Yup, I've been watching on InstaFlixxer for years myself =)
@Karter Ameer yup, I've been watching on InstaFlixxer for since december myself =)
I got the 807s for a ridiculous deal from Adorama: $169 for the pair. They work exceptionally well in my apartment living room. The slight v signature is nice because I can't turn them up very loud in my space and they sound really full and detailed at low volume. I keep them 1.5 feet off the wall and about 6 feet apart. The soundstage is as good as you say.
When I listen more critically or louder, I reduce both bass and treble by 1db and I'm super satisfied. Crazy deal. Looking forward to the full review.
I just bought the Elac Debut 2.0s (7.1 system) and they are fantastic! This is coming from B&W in the past
With my current situation, speakers are not something I'm interested in getting, but it's still cool to see what's out there. Good vid!
I bought a pair of Jamo s807 with the Dolby Atmos angled top firing speaker for a grand total of 410. I have them connected to a nobsound stereo amp. For the space I have them in I don't have any complaints. They work with every genre of music I play and they have settled me down from the eventual hunger to upgrade. I still plan of settling on a Klipsch heresy 4 or forte 3 but before I throw down some serious cash I need to demo those
I grab myself the powered version of the 801’s. Paired it up with the Ifi Zen dac and cant agree with you more with regards to the sound stage. Truly impressive.
aha! was looking for powered speakers to match with my zen dac and was doubting if the jamo's would match. Question answered :)
I got the 5.0 speaker set with the 807 towers, 801 bookshelves, and the center with the 4" woofers...for $300. And it had a high WAF due to the pretty clean looks too.
After over a year of owning and listening to Jamo S807, I have to say that these speakers looks much better than what they sound. They produce sound, and can be sufficient for movies and games, but for music, they simply are not up to the task. Sound is muffled, bass is heavily compressed, and can be heavy to the ear after couple of hours of listening.
I'm curious did you try placing them of axis and flat against the wall. In his full review of the 807s he said that helped with harshness and the bass. Give it a try if you haven't already you might find a new love for them
@@daniwalmsley611 hi, thanks for the comment. Yes, I've tried that, and couple of other solutions, as much as my room allows it, and still not fully satisfied. Conclusion is that I'm going with bookshelf speakers, most probably something from Focal.
OH MY JOSHUA. PURE EXCELLENCE IN EVERY VIDEO. ALWAYS ENJOY YOUR MASTERPIECES EVEN THOUGH I KNOW THAT I WILL NOT PURCHASE THE PRODUCTS. BUT I CAN STILL OBSERVE AND DREAM...
I bought my 807s for $170 with free shipping
Yea Zeos put up an ad from adorama and i snatched the towers up immediately. Great purchase!
Absolutely. I consider these to be money well spent. I have them in a 12x15 room and they sound great.
Got a good deal on the atmos tops for $120 shipped! Love my jamo 5.1.2
$170 =where?
@@iggypopisgod9 This was months ago...... Adorama had them for this price
I have been getting ads from Adorama for these series speakers at basically half off for a whole month.. I caved on the 807 at $167 and they are great rear surrounds. That tweeter is CRISP.
The Jamo S801's are $109, $119 & $139 on Zon today July 19, 2022. They're $79.99 on Woot today.
Jamo used to be one of the best and largest speaker manufacturers in the world, located in Denmark. I still have a set of “old” Jamo speakers 🔊
The current Jamo is a “made in China” product, with their main office located in The Netherlands I believe. The products aren’t bad but a far cry from what they used to be.
All manufacturing of electronic components such as capacitors, resistors, wiring, etc., is done in Asia, now. Even the equipment that is assembled in the US or Europe is composed of parts made in Asia. You might find specific companies still pressing dynamic drivers in the US or Europe, but not many and not cheaply. In short, everything is made in China or thereabouts, now. And there's no diminution of product quality due to that fact. People forget how much crap used to be made in the USA and Europe. Quality control has always been a profit-driven concern, with a sweet spot. Too little QC hurts sales, too much hurts profits. It's no different in China than it was in the West.
But some people are racist against Asians, so, they get selective memory.
Curious InKilleen I agree with what you saying and I understand that eastern Asia is the place where most of the world’s production takes place.
The design is made to be mass produced for as low as a price as possible with the biggest margin as possible, not to create a good/the best product with a good/decent margin.
Basically what I am trying to say is the design has become “cheaper” and it was a premium brand back in the day, it no longer is.
Also I am part Asian and my wife is Asian. so you can stop playing the racism card. I have got nothing against the Chinese people.
@@cowboyflipflopped - my concern, and may be that of John (above) - is the huge loss of manufacturing capacity in both Europe and here in the U,S. It's an inevitable fact, but sad nonetheless.
Well, if you find good manufacturer in China you can make products that are Ultra Hi-end and extremely high quality, but be ready to pay for it - nothing comes for free. And even Chinese manufacturers are expecting to be well paid for true hi-end products. I know story of certain very well designed tweeter - say half of the batches was so bad, it should be in the garbage bin - why, because the person ordered wouldn't spend a dollar or two more per driver and he got what he payed for. I have a few SB Acoustics drivers and sorry to say that, but QC isn't there at all. Despite all my efforts trying to correct Freq. Resp with crossover parts, I just can't get left and right channel to sound identical, unless DIY parts suppliers receive products that don't meet loudspeaker manufacturer standard.
pliedtka Asia especially China is well known for their mass production, low(er) volume and high end are not their forte (exceptions are there I know.) The issue I have is that “premium” brand are changing their products to “good” for the sake of more quantity (and turnover.) Sometimes it looks like premium products are slowly disappearing because the companies making them get sold to investors/investment companies and they are in it for more profit and they are buying a premium brandname.
Off course truly high end is also possible in countries which mainly specialize in mass production.
For example my 4K LG tv is made in China and a really good product and readily available for the masses which is a good thing.
But my tube amplifier is hand build (with components from all over the world and also Asia) to be of a different standard which could not be easily achieved with mass production... and I like that, unfortunately I feel those products and brands are slowly disappearing.
Also I know there are plenty of products not made in Asia or more specifically China which are just bad or not very good for their price.
Basically it is Klipsch synergy bassdrivers but with a waveguide dometweeter instead of a klipsch hornloaded
really wish you would have talked about the subwoofer. I can't find any good reviews of it.
I was surprised that my new Klipsch speakers paper work show that Jamo is owned by the same company...
I have them all. I actually got the entire set for 299. Great deal.
I was lucky enough to get 803's for $125 a few months back. They are very good
I'm considering the 801's as an out-of-the-way, low profile 2-channel that would give a quality music experience. I hesitate to choose the 801PM because I need a workaround in case the in-speaker class D amp quits. Note that the warranty on most speakers themselves is generous, but the electronics on many powered systems are warranted only for one year. I'm thinking about the passive 801's, driving them with a higher line class D amp and supplementing their bass deficiency with a sub.
Cool first impressions. Your first impressions are pretty detailed. What I am looking forward to is the actual review... I believe you still have not fully reviewed the SVS Ultra towers.
I’ve had the s801 walnut speakers for well over a year and a half now and they have been awesome just as an ultra budget shelf speakers. Got them at a frys electronics daily sale for 69 bucks. Covers off all day every day lol it just looks so fancy
Are they too weak in the bass region?
@@aeiouuuoiea yeah, with most budget bookshelf speakers, especially smaller ones like these, the bass can be sort of lacking. They sound pretty and nice enough but if you were planning to use these as like main speakers you would want to look for a cheaper powered subwoofer to go along with them :) I currently have mine plugged into a cheap thrown together stereo setup in a small living room without a subwoofer for basically tv and Amazon Alexa dot playback, but I have used them with my smaller cheaper 8inch yamaha subwoofer and in my opinion a subwoofer will make a noticeable improvement.
I managed to get the S807 set as well as the 810 sub for 460 CAD. So much better than what i had and the price was too good to pass up.
I really like your videos. Good content and quality. Would love too see reviews of denon headphones
I bought a set of 801 for $119.00 on Amazon. A great deal. I bought the 809 for $399.00 / for the sub I bought the S910 for only $154.00.
I am thinking of the S807 and on Amazon they are listed at 2 @$239 in black and I have ordered the S803 at 2 speakers at $139.
In my experience with the s803 HCS 5.0 kit (which has been on sale for $200) with the s81c and s801 is that the s801 struggle to play below about 100hz and the s81c just can't keep up with the s803s. I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. My thoughts are they are alright at sale prices but eh at msrp.
me: subscribes and watches joshuas videos of proper audio devices reviews for over a year
also me: still uses 11$ xiaomi earphones
I really need to invest in some audio stuff after summer ahah
Hopefully you'll review the newer C93 II's soon
Would love to hear your thoughts on the JBL stage series, specifically the a170 and how it compares as a budget hifi'ish setup.
I have the Stage A180 and they are wiiiild and absurdly fun with a Crown amp
If you want to pay for shipping, I'm happy to send my S803 in walnut to your channel to aid in your review here! Might be nice to have the two bookshelves to compare to the towers. There is quite a difference between the S803 and 801. Can email me from the about section of my channel.
Got a pair of 809s for $299 the other day!
These speakers really do be throwing it back tho
Please reviews some Bowers & Wilkins speakers. Specifically the 600 and 700 series 👍
803s are $126 on adorama atm that's for the pair btw
If you wanna buy Danish speakers, go after Dynaudio and Dali. Then you dont have to look after loudspeakers anymore. Especially Dynaudio.
Hope you can give a few moments in the review to touch on the 808, I was looking for a sub to compliment my pb42x desk set up. I'm looking for a bit of punch for cheap since adorama has the 808 for 90$. And the look of the 808 is really nice.
Got this question I recently purchased the Jamo S 808 subwoofers. Which type of cable, subwoofer cables should I use...
thank you for the quality video, im also considering getting the jamo s801 passive speakers. Do those include the mounting bracket on the back?
Hi Joshua! Appreciate your detailed feedback on these speakers! I'm choosing now between an 803 surround and klipsch Reference surround (450 now at Costco). I have a small apartment but im planning to get my own house soon. Do you know if it's worth it to get the jamo more than the klipsch?
I got the 801 PM and they were terrible, I had to return them. I A/B compared them with Presonus 4.5 and they sounded hollow, like the sound is coming from a cardboard box. Very anemic and there was zero bass.
Joshua, Have you tried 801 for Atmos? And what do you think about 801? I would love to hear from other users who use them for Atmos? Thanks.
How are these near field? I’m actually looking at these for my gf’s desk (she actually likes this speaker) and it is one of the only ones that fit exactly in the limited space on the desk in both width and height.
I’ll be using them without a sub.
using them in my surround setup, these are almost a waste just as such. with music they sound really fun.
Do these come with a remote?
I got a full 5.0 s809 hcs set for $533.
That wooden finish alone are worth the wife acceptance factor 😍
These Jamo bookshelves or the Klipsch R-41s?
I have the same dilemma as I have the R-41M coming in tomorrow. Read a couple reddit posts saying Jamos are better. Not sure if I'm having buyers remorse
Yo Josh, what are your thoughts on the Audioengine A5+. They look nice but how is the sound?? Also one question, you know the Hi-Res audio rating? So headphones without it can't play Hi-Res audio? Why do some have it and others don't. I want to get the DT1990, can it play Hi-Res audio?
Apparently the A5+'s sound pretty flat and boring according to Zeos. But I personally have never heard them.
Adorama had all that stuff for sale through the Slickdeals app for a while now if anyone still wanted to check that out
Do you have any time with the JAMO, C 97 ISA speakers and how would you compare those to the 807‘s
How do the Jamo 801 stack up against the Edifier R1700BTs or R1850db? Which one to choose for the price to fill just 1 room.
I was also hoping for a comparison to Edifier r1700bt
I'm trying to decide between these, the 801 PM, and klipsch R-41M
What is the music you used in the beginning? I like it.
U shape is more appropriate
How do the 801 and 803 compare to the Micca mb42x?
I am thinking to buy the s 801 pm from Amazon for 275€ to use as front speakers and helping my tannoy mercury iv4 with the hi frequency. I miss a bit of treble. What do you think? Any opinion?
Jamo is owned by Klipsch.
I got a pair of 801 for $85 a pair
Did you mean B&W Nautilus 803 review?
Weird that lots of good speakers don't measure good
The 807s are over $500 atm
The walnut finish is at $399 but still a $100 over what they are supposed to be, check it out.
@@neelalohithmoudgalya8456 Yes, but $399 used. I don't count that you don't know what you are getting when it comes to amazon.
Look through z reviews community posts. A little before father's day he posted a link for $167 on Adorama. I think it still works
Where is the susvara video?
How do you do your foobar2000?
8:46 where did you get that head from?
I've seen a lot of heads over the years. I think Josh might be into some kinky shiz XD.
$170 for pair, hmm. I often look for pair of tweeters, midwoofers at this price. Good single driver cost that much. For 170 bucks you most likely get trow away quality, Far East mass production quality, mostly the enclosure and crossover. Still, awesome value, and if the drivers/crossovers are well designed even cheap spkrs can sound very satisfying despite low manufacturing cost.
My friend designs loudspeaker drivers - some are expensive ones, say $400-500 per driver. His 6.5" underhanged can do 1" p-p, with huge neodymium magnet and very low distortions. They're expensive because of costs associated with custom design and limited quantities during production. One thing about his drivers is the consistency from unit to unit, something that many companies can not match. I'm still struggling to find a pair of mid priced tweeters that sound perfectly alike.
They look like the IKEA of speakers
I think something I'd like to see regarding the little 801's is how well do you think they'd work for a desk setup? The small footprint and low cost makes them seem like a solid offering, but its always difficult to judge how something works near your head without someone trying it first.
Also, would love to see a tier list for headphones in 2020 like DMS just did, would love your take on some of the same options just to see how your tastes compare; I feel like that gives a good reference when listening to your guys' respective reviews as personal preferences and how they align with the viewers can be very impactful to determining which products to purchase since sound enjoyment can be so subjective.
Smedium
CHEAP?
So you think these speakers are VERY cheap? Lol
Spaghetti
Jamo was bought by Klipsch. Klipsch has taken this line and dressed up their components (Klipsch) with Jamo design. the "real" jamo speakers are real wood, true cabinets vs these mdf veneer/wraps. smart move on Klipsch's part and it is always nice to get decent gear into more people's space.
What is that purple cable with your HD6XX?
Looks like Periapt cables. I got one that looks the same but in red
spaghetti
Second to comment. Thank you Josh, great as always
Look nice, don't sound great. Have the S 809 towers, enh, polk could be better. Cheesy drivers, chaulky sounding unbraced MDF. Even on sale at $229 a pair, I don't feel like it's a value buy.
"V-Shape"
aight Im out
Oh man I see that Stax SRM-D50 amp in one of the shots! I'd love to see a review of it at some point, although I'm sure you're planning on it.
While I’m just recently stepping into the “audiophile world” I got the 801PMs to use as desktop speakers a couple months ago and have been very happy with their performance for the money. Though I can’t find any specs on what AMP/DAC they have internally, would be interesting to see how much better a modus/magnius stack is compared to something like what it has internally.
Same! I got the 801PMs with the S808 sub and its perfect for my desktop.
Hey how are you liking them now? Are you still happy you got them?
