Hello hello!! Are we surprised that I've actually held myself to posting once per week for the first time in... months?? I legit bought a planner just to stay organized with all my ideas for the future of the channel; hopefully it'll keep me more accountable :~)
Work has been kinda slow recently, and I feel a teeny bit of burnout, especially since I haven't taken a real long vacation this year. BUT, I'm lucky to work in a lab, so I shouldn't complain! I just wish I could up and go travel around and boulder cool places :~)
ALSO OMG if you comment something nasty on this video (there's ample opportunity for that in this one for sure) I'm going to send your comment to the Instagram account @ chossydms2.0 and shadow block you!! Which means that no matter what you comment on this channel, no one will be able to read your gross, objectifying, disrespectful comments !!
ALSO AHHHH thanks for 8k, everybody!! :-) Very auspicious number, I am very grateful

Until she does, here are the absolute basics in order of importance from my perspective:
      1) Look for moves you're familiar with. This is the most critical because you're not just using your imagination and spatial reasoning, but your memories. Most experienced climbers are just doing this for most of each problem. Obviously you can't do this if you're brand new, and it can also lead you to miss a move you have no experience with, but it should be your go to for figuring out a route.
      2) Go from the bottom and identify all the holds for each hand. If at all unsure, do the same from the top. Sometimes it is a lot easier to read a problem from the top, it can be like doing a tracing maze by starting at the finish.
      3) For the hand holds you've just figured out, picture where your body/mass is going to want to be, then look for footholds to support that position. It is important to look at where you body will be as you transition between holds, as that is where you're going to be the least stable. Things like positioning your shoulders towards the next handhold, getting your hips under a sloper.
      4) For any angled holds, look for how to build pressure against the angle of the hold. This is where body tension and your feet come in. If your right arm is pulling you to the right, some other part of you needs to be pulling to the left.
Honestly you can go a long way with just putting a conscious effort into 1): read a route, then reflect on what worked and what didn't. Try to get a feel of how long your span is, and what that looks like from the ground.

@@JenniferLangen For the record, I would love to hear your perspective. I find that the women crushers at my gym have really thoughtful beta in general, where the guys are more like "pull hard, don't come off". I don't know why, it could be down to power, size, communication, mindset or maybe something completely different.

how they can call that green a v6 i do not understand. gyms which up-grade climbs to simulate 'progress' just raise the expectations of people who aim to climb outdoors and eventually get shut down on a v3.
