Lol I thought you were just hating on the end photos, but when I got to the end all I could do was laugh. Did he put lotion on the lens when he took those? Geesh
The Sigma VF-41 just arrived and it works excellently with the Sigma 45 mm f 2.8 on my Panasonic S9. I think an 50 mm OVF would be even better for the 45 mm, since there the OVF shows a tiny bit narrower view, and the camera takes a bit larger image than what you see in the OVF.
@@TheGoodContent37 Sorry I don't remember the exact store, but I did have to search many domestic and international resellers since the product is already dead-stock.
This is awesome. Got a cheap OVF from AliExpress and wasn't sure how to mount it on my fp L. Does it line up well with the framing where you put yours?
Thanks! If you align the center-line with the lens, it will give you less horizontal parallax, but you will still get a vertical parallax. By nature, these rangefinders cannot line up perfectly with the actual framing, so it's really up to you where to put it. The reason I off-centered it a bit is because 1) I didn't want my nose to be touching the camera's back monitor when using the OVF, 2) the parallax is barely noticeable as soon as the subject is more than few meters away anyway, and 3) simply liked the way it looks lol
The good thing about fixing it to the side is that the monitor can rest on my cheek instead of my nose when using the OVF, which for me feels much better ergonomically. Parallax is pretty harsh in close-up scenarios, but I mainly shoot streets and sceneries, so I can live with it.
At last a UA-camr who has brain and sense of humor. I’ve just placed an order for a Sigma vf-41 for my Panasonic S9 and Sigma 45mm f2.8, that lens has no distance scale for zone focusing, so I’ll rely on AF giving a chance for creative randomness from the camera.
I am curious to try something like this to complement my Ricoh GR with something that has better video capability. I have M Mount glass from my film setup so it would look very similar to your setup here. Any drawbacks you find? How’s the battery life for a day of street shooting and occasional video?
I typically bring 2 backup batteries for a full day shoot but never really use the last one. Need to be a bit creative about how to wire the SSD, but as you said it's a great 2-way camera!
There is a very strange problem. When I press the shutter button on my fp with the same settings as in the video, the screen lights up instead of remaining black as shown in the video.
The display turns on when the shutter button is half-pressed. There is no way to turn this off which is annoying to me too. As in the video, I try to do a single full-press, then the display looks like it didn't turn on (well it does but blacks out quickly).
Thank you for your experience. And I glued the case with a protective film, glued a cold shoe to the surface of the film and already inserted a viewfinder from GR at 21 and 28 mm into it, the result was not satisfactory, I peeled everything off) I did not dare to glue the viewfinder directly to the body, tell me, do traces remain when peeling off?
The tape I used in the video is the 3M VHB 5952 double-sided foam tape, and it doesn't leave any traces when peeled off. But always better to test before using. Good luck!
2:24 Sigma really should have put a Smart-Hot-Shoe at the top.. and one more usbC on the right side so we can directly attach a NVME drive and double as a handler
i find the Leica M lenses has a lot of vignetting and color cast... it's cool, and compact, but just don't pan over a white car, or wall... the edges looks a lot bluer than the center
No, it's called a parallax error and there wouldn't be a perfect alignment anyway. It requires a bit of practice and patience (especially for closer-up shots) to compensate the misalignment. So, whenever I need accurate framing, I turn on the monitor preview.
Thanks for the vid ❤ but I need to make a hater comment. That pro mist filter has no place anywhere near a Leica, or an FP even. For me it is the stuff of that “nightmare” look.
Yeah, if not used with intention it gets corny really quick. Lately I'm playing around with film emulation styles so that's where I'm coming from. Thanks for the comment ❤
After the epic DIY, Shoichi pulls out some iphone2 quality photos to inspire us for the maximum effect. Love it.
Daaang 🤣

@@djacks247 It is kind of funny that he made high quality videos and lo-fi photos only. Fun contents nonetheless.
Holy shit, that wasn’t even a joke
Its a very elegant and stylish setup for the SIGMA fp - Love it.

That's a beautiful setup!
I’ve had an fp for 3 years and love it.
Been my go to camera for a while, loved it so much I bought a second one for when I do video projects... it is also my web cam lol
Why didn't you mount the VF on the optical axis of the lens? so you get way to much parallel errors by the composition of the pictures....
You can by all means. I just didn't like my nose touching the back screen.
You can get now 3d printed Cold shoe terminal bracket for SIGMA fp that aligns more accurately. Fyi
Thanks for the info! Would love to see how it looks and works 👀
Just wow, the setup and cleaning part was straight up ASMR.... Also really cool looking device with that lens!
Would you be so kind as to point out where did you buy the Gariz fringer strap? It looks so cool!

@@be_shoichi Going to try it out! Appreciate the response
Do you have a link for the OVF?
Very interesting. Why did you not fix the viewfinder centrally above the lens, rather than to one side?
The good thing about fixing it to the side is that the monitor can rest on my cheek instead of my nose when using the OVF, which for me feels much better ergonomically. Parallax is pretty harsh in close-up scenarios, but I mainly shoot streets and sceneries, so I can live with it.
Thank you. Very helpful
Thanks for posting! The setting discussion was especially helpful.
Woo-hoo, thanks!

I love walking the backstreets of Hannam 😋
FP is such a cool camera for all its flexibility…nice shots and processing too…but that finger strap looks like a good way to lose a finger.
Pretty cool set up. I am curious what your post processing is? Seems grainy for the ISO used. Intentional?
I think it's the cine filter in action

카메라 넘 예쁘요..
Is there an auto mode on this thing ? How friendly is the UI for the average consumer?
There is auto mode just like any other camera, and the UI shouldn't be that tricky either if you are familiar with basic digital cameras UIs.
How can you tell if your image is in focus with the image preview off?
Look up "zone focusing". If I use F8 for instance, I know without checking that everything within the distance of 2.5m to infinity will be in focus.

EXACTLY!!
Did u colorgrade them or was that sooc itself using the T&O button? I have the sigma fp and nice work doc
Thanks! Those shots were pretty heavily edited in Lightroom. Originally shot in color mode OFF.

True, I still keep few Canon lenses for when I miss the luxury of modern lenses.
you can look for a kind of attachable cold shoes that come with sticker. The setup will be more neat.💯
That's pretty clever!
Podrias decir como es el trabajo de enfocar, estoy a punto de venderla por eso

awesome setup. always nice to see a FP or FPL in action :)
The view finder actually aligns there ? Just curious is all.

Yeah, Sigma should've added a shoe mount on their fp/fp L cameras
I really hope they do in their next iteration.
Fire Love IT!!!
🔥🔥
Ι would place the finder more centrally but i guess having a nose is a problem...😁
Having the same problem here 😂
Love it. Next up a Nice POV street shoot ;)
