AGREE the Ruger SR22 in my opinion is the BEST 22 Cal.
Will feed all 22 LR Ammo EXCEPT the Remington Thunderbolt 22 LR ammo..... I found there was always a miss feed...to the point I gave the ammo away.

Brooks 777 Federal Champion is just as crappy. I have 3 bricks 🧱 to sell next time I go to my rimfire range and a dad with son shooting a bolt action. Not enough recoil to cycle my 10/22 1/2 the time. I gave my SR22 to my daughter and it was flawless with any decent Ammo.

Never heard of anyone complaining about the power of a .22 lr round after getting shot with one. This is more than enough firepower to stop an assailant and if you can manage a headshot, it's a kill every day of the week.

I bought a Walther P22,after what I thought was careful research from evaluations on You Tube. When first seen,it was not given good reviews due to feeding problems and being very picky with brands of ammo. So, I waited a year or more and then read reviews of current testers. No problems.Took and functioned every type of ammo the testers said.Good recommendations. So, I waited a few months and bought one.I was a little disappointed with the threaded, skinny barrel and barrel tube, but figured if it lived up to its hype,I could stand it.Guess what? The only ammo it would cycle somewhat reliably was of course,CCI which are more expensive than most other .22 ammo. Also, about every few magazines,it refused to extract the fired cartridge.I think I am going to trade this piece of junk off for a Taurus.Walther arms should be ashamed of themselves.Supposedly one of the quality arms manufacturers in the world? They should have offered to repair all of their poorly functioning P22s for free. All I can sayis you may be rolling the dice with this pistol.Use it for self defense? You gotta be kidding me….

Exactly. My first test with any .22 is a manual cycle test. If it can't cycle them manually, that is usually not a good sign. I managed to pick one up without even researching them because I got it for a good deal... $200. I manually cycled a few mags through it and almost every round would not be picked out of the chamber or thrown from the port. I didn't even shoot the thing because I knew it was going to have issues. Turned around and sold it, didn't even try to make anything off of it. It's a shame too because the ppks and 1911 walther .22s work flawlessly.

How old is this video? Have you not heard of, or seen, the Browning 1911 22 Compact? Very light, extremely accurate, extremely reliable. Holds 11 rds of ammo (I carry 40gr Velocitor HP's in mine) I know that expansion is not consistent, but who cares? The 40 gr Velocitor hits hard and penetrates deep! You practically have to try to miss to miss with a Browning 1911 22! You can pump 11 rds into a target at close range very quickly. You can easily make head shots. I have fired many hundreds of rounds of CCI ammo through mine and have yet to have a hang up or misfire. I quit carrying the great Glock 43 9mm and now carry the Browning 1911 22 compact cocked and locked. It is the exact same size as the G43 (only thinner, for small hands like mine, and much lighter) I have complete confidence in it as a self defense pistol. Don't let anyone tell you that a 22 is not a lethal round! A double tap to the chest or face, or a fast burst of 5 or 6 rounds will put an attacker out of his misery quickly! Browning quality, and the best pistol I have ever owned.

I guess the real question is why do people purchase pistols chambered in .22 LR when for the same price or perhaps a few more bucks they can buy a .380 acp at least! Someone buys a .22 for cheap target practice and that is about it! Now a rifle chambered in .22 LR is a different thing because of a much increased velocity coming out of a long gun!

Where’s the Ruger slab sided mk-IV’s? It’s best .22 and most accurate off-the-the shelf.22 pistol I’ve ever owned. We have a a small rifle range down the road from our house with a 5 trap pits for the shot gunners. My sons and I go out the after the trap shooters are done and gather up as many unbroken clay birds as we can carry and lay them out on the 100 yard hillside/back stop. Then for the next hour or two- we just keep making making smaller targets from the broken big clay targets; after that we start disintegrating the big pieces into smaller pieces at a quarter for each miss. And, we’re not shooting from the benches - our rules are we can lean against the 4x4 awning supports but the pistols are hand held. It’s a riot and a healthy competition. For self-defense, I have a beretta mod.71 .22lr and a snub nose stainless Charter Arms .22magnum with .6 more .22 magnums in speed loader at the ready. Between a father and sons at the range - it doesn’t get any better than that!!!

    *CAUTION*
In respect to the video maker, here are the facts of todays handgun bullets/magazine capacity:
    1. All hand gun calibers are weak at "stopping" power & killing power.
    2. The power of your hand gun is your *shot placement.*
    3. In almost all real life CCW & self defense shootings 4 to 5 shots are fired on average.
    4. The most effective by far man stoppers/killers are the *_shotgun shell & the rifle bullet._*
The three (3) best ways in CCW & self defense to be more effective in stopping/killing power is to:
    1. practice
    2. practice
    3. practice
This has very little to do with the type of handgun or caliber you use.
    *The Facts of Use*
What caliber is used on the street & war:
    *9mm Caliber*
    - 70% of Americans use the 9mm for CCW
    - 65% of US LEO use 9mm Glocks
    - The US Military uses 9mm for personal sidearms (SIGs & Glocks)
    - ALL US Government Agency's (FBI,CIA, Homeland, ATF, etc.) use 9mm, usually Glocks
    *.22LR*
    - Less than 3% use the .22 LR for self-defense (IMO these are probably elderly & weaker adults)
    - The .22 LR kills a lot of people compared to all other calibers BUT *_it kills slowly with little to no_*
*_"stopping power" giving the "bad" guy/gal plenty of time to kill you too._*
Some things to think about if you pick the .22 LR to save your life.
