    Took my 13 yr old grandson to the range today so that he could use his brand new Ruger 10/22 (black synthetic stock model) he got for Christmas. Once he got used to the sights, he was hitting the swinging steel target 65 yards away, using my range bag for support. The 70º weather on a Christmas day in Kentucky certainly made for an enjoyable time at the range.

      You, sir, are describing what NORMAL life is like and how great it is in the "REAL" world out here in what Left Coast and Right Coast elitists call "Fly-over country." It's sad that they not only miss out on these special experiences of life, like you and your grandson had this Christmas, but that they also want to extinguish our great way of life. We have to continually resist their Totalitarian desires for control.

I bought it in a Central California hardware store. “Paint, light bulbs, screwdrivers, and.....here we are GUNS!” Things have certainly changed on the left coast and across the country since then.

    Bought my 10-22 Sporter in 1971 for about $65.00.That same evening my buddy bought a beautiful Weathersby .22 for about $100.00 more than I paid. The next day we went to an outdoor range to have some cheap fun shooting our .22's. My Ruger 10-22 was shooting every type of ammo we had without a hitch. My friend was having a terrible time with his higher price gun jambing . Still a lot of fun to shoot fifty years later.

    I've had my Ruger 10/22 Target since I was 14, owned it for 14 years, probably shot 10,000 rounds through it. Such a great, accurate, CHEAP (ammo) gun to shoot for endless hours. Might be the smallest caliber on the rifle line, but I always have people checking it out at the range asking if they should get one.

For fun I shot 500 rounds through it without stopping. NO MALFUNCTIONS! Polishing does a lot for Any firearm, and for this one it was all it needed!

    There are many positive qualities for having your Ruger 10/22 with a larger capacity magazine for general home defense. Dependable high capacity close in hit power. Mine is ready over the fireplace.

    • @MeltWithU
      @MeltWithU 2 роки тому +7

      Glad I’m not the only one. I would rather fire 25 accurate 22 LR rounds than 10 9 mm rounds where only one or two connect. In a high stress, random situation, you generally don’t have time to aim too well. Which is where the 22s come in. You can hip fire a 22 and still hit somebody pretty squarely. So many people think that 22 LR is horrible for self-defense. I actually think it’s a great weapon to have for self defense. It may take a few bullets to stop somebody, but you pretty much know that those bullets are always going to hit. I’ll take accuracy over ammunition size any day.
      And, if the situation requires it… I have my Mosburg 224 Olympic AR not too far away.

    First rifle I ever shot was a 10/22 that had been my Grandpa's. Put a lot of rounds through it in my teens but it's long gone. So when I got back into shooting this year I had to have a 10/22. But I was disappointed that so much is now plastic. So I bought a vintage (1975) model that still had the metal butt plate, barrel band and trigger guard. Then customized the heck out of the new one. Red and black laminate stock, 20" fluted bull barrel, red anodized bits all over the place. Still ❤️ shooting them.

      Yes thats right they do work for us, yes there is a gun lobby here in Australia. The laws are passed by a few that effect many I think its about control and power, both of which in the wrong hands (those passing the laws) with the right motive protecting the public dont understand the public need the right and the ability to protect themselves and the freedom to flourish. My 10/22 was bought back in the mid 70's. It has only malfunctioned one time since I bought it new. That was back in 82. I remember the day well because I was checking it out before going squirrel hunting the following day after I had been released from the hospital due to a workplace injury. From that day on, I have used nothing but CCI Mini Mag hollow points and never had another malfunction. It's extremely dependable and accurate to this day. I bought another one about 6 yrs. ago. It's a take down and I added a Magpul X22 Backpacker stock. It's never had anything other than CCI stingers through it and never had a malfunction. My only complaint is with the magazine release on the newer take down. It's not hard to accidentally bump it and drop your magazine.

    I have a 10/22 I owned since a kid I bet I put 100.000 rounds thru it I used to mow grass just to buy bricks of ammo to plink with. Any jams was either clip related or misfired cheap ammo. It still drives tacks I have owned a few after but none hold a place like the one my dad gave me. 10/22 is legend....

    My first solo firearm purchase was a Ruger 10/22. I walked into the local Kmart, put down $66.00 in hard earned cash and left with gun and ammo in hand. I was 16 years old at the time, no parental authorization or supervision required. That same rifle hung in the rear window of my P/U truck for many years. Even while parked in my High School’s parking lot. This was a common scene in the 1970’s.

    My Remington 550-1autoloader will shoot shorts, longs, and long rifle all day long either individually or mixed up. Very accurate rifle and actually shot a bad man in the lung in 1976. He lived but he was cut open like a fish to get the fragments out of his chest.
