    Damn. I was hoping to see Mike Ross in this vid so we could see him remotely be in training mode for once.

    Very cool stuff. I think this is the kind of tutorial most people around here need nowadays considering "casual" players mostly left the game and we are left as mostly hardcore players. As far as I can see, lots of people have crazy execution, but they have no idea how to do setups or defense. I can say I'm one of them too, I know combos, I know safe jumps, but I don't know when to do what. I mostly attack blindly without considering anything. So thanks for this.

    I don't even play this game cuz im such a heavy 3rd strike player , but this has been very helpful. Brad you break it down so easily! If I were to purchase this , I would definitely be putting those frame advantages and punishes to use for different characters.

    duuuddde that FA Tool is such a godlike app! Thankyou KBrad for mentioning it! Also some really great advice in here on practicing against the most common tactics/moves first! I made the mistake as a newbie (well I'm still a newb.. but less of a newb) of practicing the same one or two combos in training mode for hours on end. Then going into a real match, trying to land that combo, which made my gameplay linear and punishable, which led to losses, frustration and developing bad habits and mentality about how the play the game, about my character etc.
    Hmm never thought of anti-airs as "punishes", but it makes sense to get used to punishing different characters jump arcs and timings in the same way that you punish any other special or normal moves. coooool =3="

    • @ishotbytim
      @ishotbytim 10 років тому +1

      I'm in that same newb category, my friend. One thing iDid learn is try not to punish everything with DP. Depending on the opponent's jump arch could you dp it. If you're using a shoto(ryu,ken etc.) try low fierce.

    I'm super glad I watched this, I've been using FA tool for a few weeks now because I kept getting pressured online by moves I know are unsafe and not having the right punishes, but I didn't know or even think to check for FADC foward dash. Thats one of the nerfs I was really happy to see that I haven't had a chance to capitalize on.

  • @nO_d3N1AL
    @nO_d3N1AL 10 років тому

    I agree. I spent so much time coming up with combos yet in a real match I never get the opportunity to use them. Training mode should definitely be used more for scenarios

    Question: Confused on one thing, at 8:10 in the video you say one of his EX grabs is one frame. I see his running bear grab EX is one frame, but that isn't the one that hits in the example. In the example you use Double German Suplex EX which is 2 frames according to FA Tools. Am I reading that right? My main reason to point this out is I want to know, do regular throws really beat EX special grabs if they are tied on frames? What about supers and Ultras that grab, I assume they beat special grabs and regular throws.

    • @Splurgendii
      @Splurgendii 10 років тому +1

      Ya, kbrad doesn't really know what he's talking about.
      You're right to point out what you did.
      You're reading the chart right, the suplex and Spd's are both two frame start up, not one.
      So Gief being -2 and then doing a 2 frame move leaves him busy for 4 frames while a normal throw being only 3 frames will always win
      It's got nothing to do with imaginary priority of this over that.
      It's best to learn data yourself so you don't take on other people's mistakes.

    • @Splurgendii
      @Splurgendii 10 років тому

      Oh, as as to the other question regarding priority!
      No!
      There is no real priority between command grabs and regular throws
      If they were tied on frames the game randomly selects a winner.
      Ultra throws and throw immune grabs are exceptions

    • @KxanTheMonkey
      @KxanTheMonkey 10 років тому

      Splurgendii C You can throw gief out of Ultra 1

      dogeatbear ......Ok? I don't even know what frame data is so that doesn't really help.....

    • @lYakuzal
      @lYakuzal 10 років тому

      Voltage Vocaloid Frame data is basically data of how fast your moves are and how long they stay active. It'll take a moment to understand the whole concept, but all you need to know is that it's just helpful information to see what moves are fast, how to beat certain moves, and what move should be best used in certain situations. It's fine not to know frame data, in fact some well known players rarely read up frame data to help them improve. But, if you want to fully understand how fighting gamers approach this game, it's best to learn the significance of frames (which only takes a few minutes to learn), so you can get the gist of how these gamers analyze and explain moves. Though, it's perfectly fine to play without reading up frame data.

    • @JoshT4life
      @JoshT4life 10 років тому

      I mean I know moves counter each other with different characters. But when it comes to frame its another level. I know pro players can react to your characters moves before it even comes out. I am guessing thats how it works.
