Another rollover! Big Flipper and Hulk to the rescue

  • Yet another rollover in one of the biggest hot spots for accidents, the Harry Bridges off-ramp on the 110 freeway. I responded with myself in Hulk and Joe in Big Flipper to handle the loaded container. The customer was able to bring a good chassis for us to put the container on, so I positioned both rotators to allow a clean upright that allowed the chassis to back up underneath the container once in the air.
    Big Flipper was positioned in the front to lift and catch off the side while Hulk backed up to the container to lift and catch from the rear. Joe is still in training for recoveries so this one was a bit slower than usual as I walked him through the process.
    Overall we got the job done quick and efficient as always! Be sure to follow us on Instagram and Facebook to see our daily recoveries and more pictures of The Hulk and Big Flipper where I post content regularly.

    that was a smooth roll aside from that little slide the container did. But when you said 'it wasn't perfect .....' I couldn't help thinking that even your 'not perfect' roll is a whole lot smoother and better than what other towing companies deliver as their standard

    • @PepesTowingService
      @PepesTowingService  4 роки тому +2

      I learned to be "smooth" from my father. Everything I do in my videos I learned from him, and still have many years to catch up. We are big on not letting anything slam over, that's why sometimes we use two trucks where most people complain that it could have been done with one. Yes, but a lot of those "one truck" guys slam everything over very messy with no catch. Regardless, thank you for the compliment!

    I worked safety at System-TWT Transport 12k front tractor axle weight, 20k each axle after that. Dude didn't have a clue on his weight for transport. Plus he probably didn't even grease his 5th wheel which caused the trailer to drive the tractor at that speed. Driver caused accident isn't going to go well on his MVR score. Great rescue, I enjoy watching these flips and great drone footage.

    I pull containers. Imports are notorious for weighing more than the BOL says.
    SOLAS helped but it's still a think to look for. And check the kingpin to see if it's still in spec. I had an empty chassis jump out of a locked 5th wheel once.

    Nice video!
    I knew right away that the driver misunderstood you when you asked for the weight. 72k was probably his total GCW. 72k of load in a 40' container alone is impossible, but even if that was the weight of the combined container, chassis and load, it would have required a 4 axle tractor and 3 axle chassis to legally comply with the bridge weight formula.

    • @PepesTowingService
      @PepesTowingService  4 роки тому +1

      You would be shocked at what I see. A lot of these runners grossly over pack these containers, then they wonder why they flip. Then they don't let you open the container for "legal" reasons and never have the right paperwork.

    I've seen too many that have come off or rolled over because they were too top heavy. The places they come from don't have the same load requirements as the U.S. and therefore containers are usually overloaded and if the driver does not understand or respect that this is what happens.

      Stan Patterson you would be surprised man. we used to hand stack cases of water in 40'. stuffed! not sure of weight but it's def heavier than most loads. if i could remember how many cases went into a 40' i could give you the weight, unfortunately i don't remember. oh and this was all done on 2 axle trailers

    • @stanpatterson5033
      @stanpatterson5033 4 роки тому

      I know that the can itself can handle that sort of weight, but people with reasonable intelligence don't send 70,000 lb loads up the road on a 2-axle trailer or chassis. Can 2 axles handle it? Maybe, but not for long. Sooner or later, the weakest link is going to let go, whether it's a tire or two, the suspension, the wheel bearings... and if you get going with that sort of weight and suddenly need brakes, that's just not enough braking to bring you to a stop quick enough or short enough. It's your business if you just want to use a 2-axle trailer for storage or cartage on your own property, but taking ridiculously overweight loads out on the public roads or highways is going to bite you one day. You just want to hope it doesn't involve death.

    This is what happens when you don't put a zip-tie on each of the four corner's locks! Locks keep pins where they're supposed to be! And when you hit potholes, bumps, etc...those locks can move & become unlocked! This is from driver being in a big hurry in at least two ways. Yeah driver will be fired for this and speeding! Or his boss is an idiot too! Maybe it's the driver, as in, owner operator? CSA will Assess this idiot's CDL with points and his Insurance company will probably cover this, then shit-can him. These guys get their CDL out of box of "Kracker Jacks" and then only have to watch a 30 min Safety video! Because these guys weren't Trained Properly, they are 4-wheelers still, trying to steer a truck! Hey good, steady business for you guys! At least you guys know what in the hell yur doin! Good vid! Thanks for vid!

      Everyone starts from somewhere, even the big heavy hitters in the game at the moment all were trained at one point.

      @@powderflint It's cool, I said in the video plus the description that Joe is still training for recoveries, but he is shaping up to be really good at it.

    you had the chain hooked in the bottom of the box so you couldnt set it on the trailer. you had to pull the trailer out. put the box on the ground and re rig it. pick it back off the ground. back the trailer under and set it. that video of that is missing!!!! Marty the rigger

      Are you high? Have you not seen my dozens of other similar videos? The locks are flush, you set it down, lock it, then pull the chain out. If you're going to speak out of your ass, at least try and sound like you know what you're talking about
