Tractor trailer left hanging off the freeway after heavy rain

- If you remember towards the end of my last rollover video, I had to take off to an emergency job; this is it! The description I got was a tractor trailer dangling over an overpass, but when I arrived I saw it was actually teetering over the embankment. Normally, the preferred method is "the way it went in, is the way it's coming out", but the dirt hill it was stuck on made that very difficult. I risked damaging both tractor, trailer, and property if I tried to pull it straight back.
The next method was to physically lift and swing it back to the freeway using both Hulk, my 50ton rotator, and "Old Yeller", my dad's 60ton rotator. The recovery fought us more than expected, but as always we were able to get it out and back onto the road so our tow unit, aka The Beast, can take the customer back to his yard.

Prior to bingeing on towing/recovery videos, I don't think I ever appreciated just how strong the kingpin/5th wheel connection is.
Easily one of the strongest parts!
Hi Josh, I am here because of the kind words spoken about this channel by @Ray H. Ray was saying that you were very respectful in a comment over on Ron Pratt's channel. I have been watching and I must agree with Ray. You have earned my sub and I look forward to your future content. Additionally, I'm going to recommend your channel to some friends. I am hopeful others will share the channel as well. Come on everybody! Lets see how fast we can get Josh to 50k and then 100k subs. Keep up the good work and thank you for the vids Josh. AND thank you Ray
Welcome Brandon! Really hope you get a chance to check out my cool play lists of big major jobs we are known for. Thanks for spreading the word!
As a retired cop who has worked lots of collisions with lots of towing companies, I am impressed with the professionalism I see when watching your videos.
Good to see what is involved from recovery side.
Glad you noticed, appreciate it!
Thank you for your service as a cop Mike.

Josh, I got to tell you, you are so respectful to your dad and I just don't see much of that anymore. I'm 78 and have not seem much respect to elders in about 20 years. Kudos to you.
Loma I agree I'm sad to say but your right ! I am 55 and all of of my life I have done my very best to help any elderly folks in any way possible, like walking them across busy streets or stopping if they were in a accident just to comfort them and show them some love ! Much love to you !
@@davoupnya3202 I doubt we will ever get to that respect and responsibility again, such a shame that todays kids will never know what it is once the old folks are gone.
It is rare and going away sadly the respect and admiration to our elders that teach and show the way but there are some of us I’m 21 on a 50 ton wrecker and I admire the seniors
My Dad was a rigger. I never got the chance to see him on the job. I am sure he would've loved to see your skills. Nice to see you and your Dad working together. GREAT JOB 🤩
Thanks 😁
Hey Pepe's towing service! You and your dad are an awesome recovery team! Hard core dudes like the two of you are the only thing keeping the freeways moving! Thanks! Ride ride ride!
JI agree. "Heavy on the hot sauce"!
Another smooth no fake drama recovery. Excellent job.
Love it when Dad shows up in the videos. The interchange between the two operating styles is fun to watch . Old school vs new school coming together in concert.
We get to see what your dad looks like but we never get to see you except sometimes your reflection in your side doors? It’s a pleasure watching you work. If you sound like a broken record sometimes it’s ok you and your company do a great job👍
Every guy needs a rotator!
You make this look like child's play!
Thanks for keeping it clean! I don't have to worry about my daughter listening!
That was pea size hail compare to the one that we get in Texas. It was baseball size here dude and bigger in other places. Nice work and great working with your Jefito. Great job.
I am 71 years old, but I see your work as a missed job for myself.
A healthy amount of jealousy.
Splendid.
Were you ever into towing? Or you mean you would have liked this industry? It's fun for me, but there are LOTS of risks and it can be very dangerous.
@@PepesTowingService No, I have grown old and wise as an international service engineer for CNC machines.
There was never 1 day the same, as in your work.
I enjoyed doing that with just as much pleasure as your do.
@@ariedekker7350 Mind if I ask... How many countries did you visit for work, and which is most memorable?
You two are some excellent operators. I can tell you have learned a lot from your Dad and he from you. That makes for a pair that is probably unequalled. You should both be very proud.
When it rains , it can hail too .
Another great job Papa and Josh 😊
Nice Job Guys…! Buried is right… That sure was weird to see the hail… It just came out of nowhere… Looks like that spreader bar is a sweet tool to have and comes in real handy… That the 1st time I’ve seen your Dad’s truck off the ground too… Thank God for those outriggers…! Wow…!
Did NOT expect hail lol, good thing for helmets. And he's a pro at floating haha
I Like How You & Your Dad Work Togeather & it's Not Just His or Your Way it Makes For A Great Quick & Safe Job,Can't Wait Till The Next Video 👍👍👍
Gentlemen you made this look easy. As a former wrecker operator for 15 years i know how hard it is. What i miss most about recovery is learning new things all the time. Great job i would be proud to work for or with you guys. 👍
I must say I respect this truck driver!
You guys are awesome service for helping drivers out of bad situations want to be your friend bryant from lake Elsinore ca I was going to be a tow truck driver after seeing your videos but iam 51 yrs old and probably wouldn't hire me plus have my cdl from Arizona still anyway keep up the good work write back soon.
And now for something completely different................ I LOVE watching you work with your dad!! You have all the new tools, he has all the old tricks!!
It's literally the perfect combo haha
Sir Josh !!! Another great recovery on your part & ""DAD "" !!! NO further damage to the Customer's unit !!! ""Heard that CA.. Had tornado That day on ""TWC"" !! ""KEEP IT SAFE ""!!!
Amazing work gentlemen, Josh and Dad and crew. Super use of your equipment AND YOUR SKILLS.
Super job...nice and quick...you made it look easy...I like the dialog between you and your father...I sense a lot of respect...more later...
Thank you!
Your Dad really gave you the fire for this job....you take it to the NEXT level. Thank you for taking us along and educating us♥️🖖🏻😎
Nice job sir Joshua, always thrill to watch your videos
You da best 💪🙏
Nice team work dad and son. Complete respect.
Josh great video, another job with the big boss. Like he said he is always ready. Nail biting with old yeller floating. Be safe out there.
The experience from your old man it worth more than any new gadget he's really good 👍
100% agreed. My new gadgets are worthless without a base knowledge of rigging
111
It was a great rescue. Thank you.👍👍
Awesome work guys. truly a sight to behold all the experience and knowledge you guys have shows and pays off every time.
Also, I always find it comical when we see your reflection and I am reminded you are a skinny little "kid"(lack of a better term) and it is SO in contrast to what people would think a heavy wrecker/'tator driver would or should be. I bet you show up sometimes and people are like "all right there Doogie Houser, go get the real driver" ....then you just go, "haha rotator go brrrrr" and the job is done and they are surprised and impressed. LMFAO, seriously now though keep up the amazing work. you guys are awesome!
Haha very true, when I first started driving the rotator I did get that a lot. I carry myself well and inspire a lot of confidence so I don't get that as much, especially when I show up in a huge rotator
@@PepesTowingService that you do, and very well. Always respectful and serious about the job, but still having a little bit of fun at the same time. A healthy mix can ease the tension and aggravation of the call. You do it very well. Keep up the great work.
You guys never cease to amaze me...and hail in LA to boot!! The tractor looks like it came through in fairly decent shape from what we saw aside from the area below the air tanks that got shoved up. always glad to see nobody got hurt. Keep up the great work guys !
There was significant damage to the air tanks and one of the brake chambers was busted, but we got it out without any further damage
@@PepesTowingService ahhh...i thought I had heard the air tanks got by without major damage
@@donw3912 I thought so too until we tried to shoot air to it lol
@@PepesTowingService trailer looked like it came through okay...assuming the landing gear mounts werent tweaked. That was not an easy job...your dad has taught you well Josh :-)
You guys are awesome 👏 I love your work , I myself wish I was a tow truck driver . You make me feel like I’m on the scene with you working the call
Being a tow truck driver includes seeing some gruesome things. You gotta have a strong stomach in this industry.
Great Job Josh you and your Dad are The "A" Team I like your videos cause you guys get right into the action, I have seen one other towing company on you tube that's also good but
Too much driving to the scene. Keep up the good work!
One of these days folks will saying: that Josh, he knows a thing or two because he's seen a thing or two! Great job again!!
Great video and great work you all did. Loved the Hal storm
Thank you for all you do I'm putting this on UA-cam I used to live in California planning to move back keep up the good work God bless you and your family
What I really, really like about your work is that while taking advantage of the latest equipment (your dad didn't much like that shackle that weighs the load on the cable), every job is planned out by a human with a human brain and experience. I hope there is never "smart" software that tells you how to rig and lift. Love to see your experience in action!
I hope there is that one day. Tools are good things. Humans aren't perfect.
Wowers that's a crazy ride. Very nice job on this recovery. Turned out very well and safe. Nice work there. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my Tow On. God Bless.
So much easier and safer when you have the right tool for the job. 👍
You guys and Ron Pratt are amazing..
Thanks!
Ron pratt sucks it would take him 2 days to do this and still mess it up
you guys risk your lives doing this kind of work. bless you always
Appreciate it!
Another awesome recovery , you and your Dad work very well together
Thank you, he did teach me everything
Another Father/Son performance, great video! Thanks for sharing. Kevin
Thanks for watching!
Excellent job getting that out without doing more damage than it took going in. I feel for that poor driver. Dragging an empty 53' van around with a 2-axle class 7 seven tractor in the rain is a recipe for disaster. It wasn't a lack of skill or negligence on his part at all. He must have had to come to a sudden slow down or stop, tapped the brake pedal then the truck went where it wanted to. At the end of the day, no blood, the tractor is repairable, and a dime says that the trailer has had the mud washed off and has been reloaded and back out on the road. The company will have a tow bill to submit to their insurance provider that should include a large tip. The major damage was to the driver's pride. I sure hope that he went to an ER to get checked out and that they gave him some good drugs for the next few days because he's going to be one sore trucker inside and out. Great scenic video of sunny four-season So Cal. Peace!
Man just found your channel. You and your Dad are an awesome team
ONE WORD...... THE A TEAM.....GOOD JOB GUYS
💪💪💪💪
Awesome job guys!!!!
Hi Sir Josh, thank you for another moment of truth. Your Dad is a true soldier showing us all how hard readable, honest owner's built their business one job ATFER the next job with no excuse. Thank God nobody got hurt Your Dad is a universal gentleman giving the tractor trailer driver a ride in a real man machine. Only if the walls can talk, TWO old timers shooting the breezes 😁😀😊💪👍👊🤙Dad, got more energy than Hulk Lol. Pepe's Towing Service Is Number One, One Call Does It All. Thanks Josh, Stay Safe And Healthy. 🛣🚥💪🚔🚧🚁

Awesome job fellow's. Pleasure watching you work. You guys make me tired because you work so hard.
Good deal. Another flying tractor/trailer show. Keep up the great work and those freeways moving.
It looks like "walking the dog backwards" works too! Great job. 👍
You are lucky the hail was small and short lived. We get it all sizes and volumes out here in South Africa. That looked like a very delicate balancing act. Another truck saved by Josh.
Good job fella's, You work well with your dad.
Ya'll work together beautifully, nice job guys !
Thank you!
Great timing, just had dinner so it's time to relax on the couch with a nice video
What country are you in that it's dinner? Right now it's about noon here
@@PepesTowingService .. It's 8 pm in the Netherland
That's awesome, I might go visit over there this summer for vacation
Another great recovery. Thanks for the videos
That was very interesting.great work guys.
You guys really worked as a team you did good that was a hard one !
Great job by you and your dad. Always work safe
Watching in 4k on my 55inch smart TV. Downunder here in Straya..love ol yella.
4k is the way to go!! Happy watching mate 👌
The jobs with your dad are great.
Another great job by the Rotator Whisper (Josh). Thanks for the great content you provide
The rotator whisperer 😂😂 I like that!
dang that was a lift and a half! nice aerial recovery there!
Son u are good but it's still the old man's wisdom that wins the day & nothing wrong with that, u still can learn a lot from Daddy 😁 but your all a Great team
You Gus have all the good gear from Australia 😊
Fantastic! Good job. By the way, I was born and raised in SoCal, and yes it does hail there occasionally.
Your dad really saved the day here
Wow another exciting tow. Love the peanut butter one.
Always fun with lightning ⚡ and all that metal huh ...you guys are saints !!!!
15:20 and 16:56 ---- this is crazy how much stress these truck frames can take. That front wheel was what, 3 feet up in the air and even the back tires were off by more than a foot, with the two outriggers keeping this rig from rolling over.
Boy, had it been full, it would have been a mess to get out! Enjoyed watching
Y’all do some clean work! Hoping to do the same in the near future
After this job .....you need to head over to the Suez Canal ......bring everything you got.
Josh says watch in 4K...so I oblige, love anyone that does 4K video, makes it worth my while to keep my PC hooked up to a massive 4K TV!
Likewise, I love 4k content and people that take time to really make their videos pop
Great job. Where I live we have hail snow everything. You just got blessed by cooling off and moisture. I had friends riding motorcycles when that hail hit. There. Thanks for sharing. Stay healthy and safe... Oh yes stop playing in the mud. 🤣🤣🤣 Just teasing.
This man is respectal to every one good job fella from aus
All Hail Pepe's Towing Service
What the hail??? (growing up in Woodland Hills, I know how variable March can be). Good work, Josh!
I'm def not used to it in East LA! Was a weird surprise
I'm viewing from Minnesota, our hail storms ice (sometimes golf balls) fall from a higher altitude & dent metal. I'm hoping the out riggers get planted onto the roadway surface before you lift.
THE H U L K AT IT AGAIN NICE JOB FATHER AND SON THE DINAMIC DO O !!
We get hale multiple times in a summer time here in Finland (Northern Europe). Usually the weather is fine around 15...20C and the hale shower doesn't last long. Biggest hale I've seen were baseball sized and they broke windshields of parked cars. I know that even small hale hurts. A couple times a hale shower surprised me while I was bicycling. :D
Even with a motorcycle helmet on, hail of any size is loud, perhaps to the point of deafening. Of course, there is never a bridge overpass nearby, to offer shelter.
9:03 Ok, I'll bite (after a fashion), and comment from the east cost (Melbourne Australia 🙄) and suggest that while Ron Pratt at Midwest Trucks has been putting up footage of weather that makes your hail a minor trifle, you have Ron beaten (and probably shuddering at the thought of) your videos of run ins with his "Arc Nemesis" in this video (lightning in the area), and your container lift at the power plant. Both of your companies do fantastic work.
About what does it cost to do a job like this?
You guys are such PROS!
I like your professional courtesy while talking to the driver, by not saying "what did you do?"
Hail is usually a good sign the thunderstorm is of sufficient intensity you really don't want big metal things sticking up in the air ...
(you were well, well, past the "everybody out of the pool" point even before the hail)
Very cool thanks 👍😊
Good evening from Southeast South Dakota amd as always be safe.....
Thank you, likewise!
Man with the plan 🔥
That gets _____ done
Another amazing recovery, you sound like a kid in a candy shop and you got to play in the mud too 😂. Love your work !!
I look like one too 😂😂😂
I have done a lot of work driving for the company that owns that truck and trailer. That driver is a very good driver, been working there for quite some time. Just an unfortunate situation he got into this time.
Poor guy, he was very nice and professional. Unfortunately, these freeways after the first rain are pretty bad, and he was empty on a single rear axle tractor, which is a recipe for disaster. He rode with my dad back to the shop and was treated very very friendly. Glad he's OK!
@@PepesTowingService I have driven many of their trucks, all in good condition. Ca roads ae hell after a rain. I jack knifed a cabover myself on the 10 many years back. Happens so fast. Glad he is OK.
Definitely first person I ever seen keep spreader bar assembled great time saver for sure
I love it, saves so much time and energy especially during the heat
Happy to see you not climb on top of trailer! Rigged bar on the ground.
Wow!! Lol Josh that was Awesome 👍 You have the coolest Job man love the videos. Hello from Central Valley
I agree, my job is insane cool haha
@@PepesTowingService Yes Sir it was like nothing to You and Your Dad. Good stuff

With hulk all things possible, can I use that hey make that a merch.bumper sticker for your fans.im in..
I always wonder how these accidents happened-especially the ones that landed in weird configurations!
I wonder if the driver aquaplaned off the road.
Hello Josh,
You're just like me, always thinking.
Good recovery
Wreckers with some serious muscle. Tossing a big rig around with ease.
ur dad was making the 60 sing out there! Nice job as always
Old yeller was hitting all the high notes lol
