I love the 22-250 , pity we don't have prarie dog here in the UK. What we do have is alot of foxes and crows and it is a great tool for those. Crow at 473 meters is my record but the conditions were perfect with 0 wind. But it just makes you smile when you pull it off.
I’ve noticed a big difference in terminal performance when I shoot them in my 1:8 twist barrel vs my 1:12. Much more explosive in the 1:8. I’ve been using the Hornady SP w/cannelure in .223 for years. I think the construction is very similar.
That bullet has been a go too for me for ten to twelve years now on coyotes beavers raccoons, the 55gr sp with cannelure is a damn effective whitetail deer bullet as well. That cannelure works like a interlock ring. My longest whitetail kill was made with my 220swift ruger m77 at 398yrds and that 55gr sp cannelure!
Been shooting those 55 gr soft point bullets in 22-250 For many years. I bought a ton of them back when the were 8 cent each. They are accurate in al my 22-250 And make a fantastic coyote load in 223. It Anchors them not As elplosive as a BT but gets the job done
Sierra 52 grain match will splatter hogs all day. I love the 22-250, I just hate how they burn barrels out. Next barrel for me is a shilen barrel in SS.
Currently working on 53 Nosler Varmagedon for my 22-250... very impressed with performance out of 22" 1 in 12 spoter barrel. Yet to test whether they lives up to the advertised BC of .303 and their terminal performance on game.
Been using a 22-250 for years with 55gr Hornady SP. No problems up to 450-500 yards on performance. A real killer on prairie dogs. I usually run them .025 off the lands.
Yep. I use Hornady 55gr. SPs for all of my .22 centerfires. But those are not boat tails. I have some cheapo bulk bag Hornady 55gr. SPs with cannelure but the weights are inconsistent and I sort them. They also don't perform as well accurately as the standard Hornady 55gr. SPs. About a 1000 bullets of each though. My best bullet is a Nosler 55gr. Ballistic Tip boat tail but those are more expensive. There is big difference in cost shooting the .22-250 than the .222 and .223. The .22-250 uses double the powder charge but if you need the extra distance then its worth it. Thanks for sharing.
Hi CD hey could you give us an estimate of the cost per round for this particular combination for the 250? And thanks for sharing another great video with us.
Current prices are all over the board, but $33.00 a LB powder, $35.00 per brick primers and this bullet at 12 cents bulk, adds up to 32-33 cents per shot. Add about 13 cents if you want to use the V-Max.

I used the Sierra 55-grain SPBTs in my .223, and they were devastating on rock chucks and ground squirrels in eastern WA.
Them and the hpbt in my 22-250 devastating. Shot in the same hole in my gun.
The Sierra 55-grain SPBT is my favorite bullet for the 22-250, followed by a 55 grain Blitzking.

22 250 the funnest gun there is if you like to see prairie dogs explode before you hear the report, 4000 ft per second is awesome

I use 50gr Ballistic Tips and JHPs for that "pink mist floating away in the wind" effect.

When you connected, those did a great job!! What powder are you typically using for .223?

I go through Precision Reloading for a lot of my supplies.

Love to have 22-250 one day
😎🇺🇸🍺
You hit more when you shot off a table out in the field at the back of the pickup 🤣
It's that much more stable of a platform. The Deathgrip Tripod, Zero wind, on a good day, 350-400 Max. On a good day!
👍🏾😀❤️🇺🇸
