Hi Josh this is soooo helpful Ive been a wedding/commercial photographer for years and have dabbled in video first multi shoot photo and video this weekend epic tips thank you from New Zealand
Wonderful tutorial, thank you so much for imparting your knowledge with us. I am inclined to think this info is akin to trade-secrets but your sharing helps to "lift all boats" in the photography community. Thanks again!
One main concern is stabalization. I'm shooting events, photos, and video, but I noticed some of my footage is shaky. The obvious solution is using a gimbal for video, but then that takes away my handling of the camera for photos.
Okey, but what about the ceremony and sound? Or you main video product is a highlight film and you can use vows as a background sound? And why just not using 6k-8k video and take screenshots?
Great Video Josh. I’m new to your channel. I own the R5 and the original R6. With the announcement of the new R1 and R5II I was trying to figure out what to replace my R6 with. I was once asked to shoot a swim meet once and I was shooting in high speed mode and came to realization of the limitations of my cameras buffer for these kinds of shoots. I do mostly shoot weddings and events but definitely would love to dabble in shooting more sporting events. And you mentioning the buffer of the pro sport camera is a great reason on making my final decision on what camera to upgrade to. It’s going to hurt my wallet a little more than I wanted to but hey what can you do. Thank you.
Great tips Josh! Love the workflow. Can I ask how you manage to switch between video/photo-mode? I assume you are using a ND-filter for video? I feel like I dont have time going back and forth during a wedding.
I alternate between burst image shooting (that I can use to create animations to use for video) and straight video capture - between the two, it's plenty of footage to get the full exit!
Thank you Josh - this is great introduction to someone looking to do both.
So glad it was helpful!
Very good tutorial. Thank you for sharing this special approach of event recording.

Are you still using the R3 for a process like this?
@joshrexford this is great work, cant imagine how easy the process is. Thank you.
What presets do you use for ur photos
Hiya! How do you capture videos and photos during the couple exiting the aisle after ceremony? :) with just you? Thanks
