Great video! One note, it won't take 195 images in a quarter of a second, it will take 50 (at a speed of 195FPS) you can't actually reach 195 in one burst. Wish it would.
Hi. I don’t believe that’s how to read it. Here’s an example… I can drive at 195 mph, but at the same time only drive for a few miles before I slow down. Did I drive at 195mph? Yes, but that’s different than driving for 195 actual miles. I would have had to drive for an hour to achieve that (miles per hour). So the camera does “‘drive at 195” (bursts at 195), but only for a few miles (50 pics) and not 195 pics. Hope that helps!
Super Helpful! This was a great peice of work. I just ordered a referb R3 from Canon and I Cant Wait to get it! I'll probably watch 20 R3 videos every night for the next three weeks lol. Seriously, this is the type of content (style of presentation, depth of presentation) that deserves a subscription at the very least... How do I financially support the channel? Thank you very much!
I have used a Canon 1 Dx Mark II for all of my Macaw family photos/videos since 2016. But after watching a video by Jan Wegener on the Canon R6 Mark II, I decided to rent one. Absolutely incredible focusing capabilities and produces amazing 4K video. I do not like the smaller body of the R5, R6, and others, but love the large body of the 1Dx series cameras. I ordered a Canon R3 a few days ago, and it will be delivered today! Thank you for this video and for reinforcing my decision to buy the R3! The new R1 will not have any improvements over the R3 for my photo/video use, so no need for me to buy the R1. The larger 1 Dx body size on the R1 would be better than the R3, but not enough to justify the larger price.
I was in a very similar boat - had used my 1DII for years (and LOVED it), transitioned to the R6 and was blown away but loved the larger body size of the classic 1D series. The R3 has been a fantastic hybrid - PERSONALLY I feel like the new R1 might feel a bit too big, would be interested to hear what your verdict is after using the R3!
None except something to break. I have a r3 sitting on the shelf because the mechanical shutter is throwing a err20 code. Camera is less than 9 months old. I use a Nikon Z9 now.
@@DavidWagelmans Sure... but a S5000 dollar camera shouldn't have a fault at such a tender young age. I'll have canon fix it, but I don't trust the camera any more. I travel deep into the African bush for weeks and I need reliability. I bought both the Z9 and the R3 at the same time. Shutter counts are the about the same. Maybe Nikon has a point when the say the Z9 is "unstoppable".
For me the primary issue has been banding on the electronic shutter. That's happened pretty frequently tbh so I've gravitated towards the mechanical. Plus, the mechanical shutter burst speed is 12fps which is exactly what I want for shooting animations...so it's been a win for me. But the major issue is the banding in certain environments.
With the release of the R1 causing the price drops of the R3, would this be a good time to upgraded to an R3 from an R6. I shoot my son’s youth hockey (14u) games with an R6 and a RF70-200 2.8 or RF24-105 2.8. I was planning to skip the R6mkII and wait for the R6mkIII but the R3 looks great. What’s your opinion?
Hi Josh , about color science between r3 and 6k blackmagic , do you consider R3 is a better option ? Already have fx3 and looking for a better option for photo and video
This is the second of your videos that I’ve come across and I love them, thank you! You’ve gained a sub!

Yeahh, I so wish that “number of shots” number would go higher than 50. Still useful though!
@@joshrexford I agree! Has been great for predictable wildlife for me.
Oh I can imagine! Wish it had pre-roll at that speed…that’d be insane. Maybe the R1 Mark II hahaha
Yet to try it out .. sounds mega for some situations 👍

Great material, thanks! There's always something to learn about R3 :). Good luck and don't stop uploading!
Appreciate you watching!! If there's ever specifics you'd like me to cover, please don't hesitate to ask!

Dear Josh, as usual, Great Video, ThankYou for sharing.
Many thanks!
Very enlightening
Great video 👍
Thanks so much for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
What advantages are there still with the mechanical shutter? Just curious ☺️

@@calebizsol cant they fix that under warranty? 😀
